This book is outside my usual genre—historical fiction and thriller—but it was a fantastic read about a true event I had never heard of before. The level of secrecy surrounding the event is both overwhelming and deeply unsettling. This was my fourth book I have read written by this author and they do keep getting better and better!

None Left to Tell is a gripping historical thriller based on the true events of the Mountain Meadows Massacre. The story is told from the perspectives of three women: Lucy, Katrina, and Sally, each facing their own harrowing challenges. Lucy is determined to seek justice against the anti-Mormon mob that drove her family from their home. Katrina, a young mother, struggles to protect her family during the perilous journey west. Sally, trapped in a polygamous marriage, must navigate her loyalties when her husband joins a group of religious zealots.
Ihli's vivid storytelling brins this dark chaper of history to life. the characters are well-developed, and their emotional journeys are both heartbreaking and inspiring. The book's pacing keeps readers on edge, blending suspense with historical detail. While the subject matter is intense, Ihli handles it with sensitivity and depth.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.
Noelle West Ihli's "None Left to Tell" is a gripping descent into the suffocating world of isolation, where paranoia and suspicion erode all sense of trust.
This novel follows a group of friends who retreat to a remote cabin for a weekend getaway. Their idyllic escape quickly descends into chaos when a blizzard cuts them off from the outside world, trapping them inside with a terrifying secret. As the storm intensifies, so too does the tension, as old resentments and hidden agendas come to the surface.
Ihli masterfully builds suspense, relying on subtle psychological cues and a claustrophobic sense of atmosphere. The isolation of the cabin becomes a character in itself, amplifying the characters' growing paranoia and fear. This story explores the fragility of human connection and the destructive power of secrets, leaving the reader questioning the motives of every character.
"None Left to Tell" is a chilling reminder that the most terrifying threats are likely to come from those closest to you.

This was an amazing book had me shocked and totally didn’t expect the outcome but had a great ending

Having read one of Noelle West Ihli's previous novels, I was under the impression, as some others were, that this was purely a *thriller" novel. But I was delighted to actually learn about a forgotten and relatively unknown piece of history.

I initially started this book but set it down, thinking it wasn't interesting enough and that I couldn’t relate to it. How wrong I was! This book tells the true story of the Mountain Meadow Massacre, and it is heart-wrenching and deeply sad. I have personally visited Nauvoo, Illinois, where I learned about the anti-Mormon mob that drove the settlers from Illinois, but I had never heard the story of what the Utah militiamen from the Nauvoo region did. The narrative is presented from multiple perspectives, focusing on the harrowing experiences of the women who lived through this event. This is exactly why I love historical fiction; it reveals aspects of history that often aren't taught.
Thank you NetGalley, Dynamite Publishers and Noelle for such an amazing read.

The fact that this was based on a true story makes it so much creepier. I absolutely love Noelle Ihli. I’m so glad I got to read this book.

If you are familiar with Noelle W. Ihli's previous work, let me tell you that this is completely different. It's unlike any book I've ever read and I was completely captivated from page one.
None Left to Tell is a fictional retelling of a true story. It is the story of 3 women who experienced the Mountain Meadows Massacre. The massacre really happened in Utah in 1857. This is something that I had never heard about, until I read this book and was saddened to read the circumstances.
You will meet Lucy who is Mormon and was, at one time driven, from her home from in Illinois, by anti-Mormons, and is now living in Utah with here family. You will also meet Katrina is traveling with her family and fellow Christians, by horse and covered wagon, across the country to California by way of Utah. Finally, you will meet Sally who was "gifted" to a man to become his fourth wife. Each woman is strong in their own right and their stories their different perspectives of the massacre.
None Left to Tell is a dark and very sad read, but it's also one I recommend. The fiction mixed with the true facts of the Mountain Meadows Massacre will not only tug at your heart, but you'll learn about a massacre that is not talked about, for the most part. Ihli has a note at the end talking about how she went about writing the book and her own connection to the story. I think she did an amazing job blending fact with fiction and give her kudos for tackling such a hard subject.

Oh my goodness. This book was not at all what I was expecting but it was so much more! I have recently become a big fan of Noelle Ihli and after reading this I'm an even bigger fan! It is not always easy to tell a story of something so horrific and not only make it educational but also entertaining but that is exactly what she did. This book opened my eyes to an event in history that I had no idea even occurred. Although some characters were fictional, it was so easy to connect with them and their emotions. I honestly think we need more books like this that bring important, even tragic events to light. These people and what happened to them should not have been forgotten and what a beautiful way to have their story brought back to life.

This book was not what I was expecting from Noelle but I still enjoyed it and very harrowing to learn it's based on a true story. Definitely worth a read!

If you’re looking for a book that once you pick it up; you just can’t put it back down. Then this is it. A heart wrenching story that is so well done. Highly recommend.

Wow! This book was something I did not expect. I had never heard of the Meadow Massacres before. This story was a little slower paced, but it worked for delivering the information. This is a heartbreaking story based on a true event. There seems to be so little known about this incident, but this should be more widely known.

This was my first Noelle Ihli book and it will certainly not be my last!! This book was heart-wrenching and the story being retold was abhorrent. It’s so important for us, as Americans, to be familiar with, though.
There were plenty of twists throughout this that I didn’t see coming and to know that this is BASED OFF SOMETHING THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED is wild!! This novel is narrated by three different women and that allows us to see so many different sides of this story and the various aspects that could only be told by someone who existed in the roles each of them did. I can’t believe it took me so long to finish this. I think the three different narrators was also the downfall of this book for me. For the first 40% or so, I couldn’t really keep the different narrators straight and it caused me to never pick the book up. Once I got past that, I couldn’t put it down!!! I FLEW through the last half of None Left to Tell.
Highly recommend for anyone who likes historical fiction and/or horror. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC of this book!

None Left to Tell is one of those books I recommend to nearly everyone I can, regardless of their preferred book genre. Going into it, all I could initially recall was that it was categorized as historical thriller and the visual of the cover. I had absolutely no concept of how deeply I would fall into the depths of the importance and significance of this novel until I got several pages in and decided to reread the book information and then do a quick background study on The Mountain Meadows Massacre.
None Left to Tell is historical fiction, but based very heavily on the historic and tragic events from 1857.. For readers who are not familiar with these events, as I was not, The Mountain Meadows Massacre was the horrific slaying of men, women, and even children by a group of men made up largely of settlers from the Church of Latter-Day Saints, Nauvoo Legion militia, and some Paiute Native Americans. The men, women, and children massacred on September 11, 1857 were part of a large wagon train traveling through Utah territory as part of their journey from Arkansas to California.
Now to the novel: What is unique about None Left to Tell is that the story of this awful tragedy is told from three different female voices: Lucy is a Mormon convert who, along with her family and some friends, was driven from her hometown by an anti-Mormon mob. Sally is a Native American who was "gifted" to another tribe as a fourth wife to him. Her husband is part of a group of Native American Mormons converted by the Church of LDS. Finally, there is Katrina, a young mother of four and devoted wife, braving the wilderness and harsh conditions as they travel west in hopes of a better life.
Noelle West Ihli manages to tell the individual stories of these fictional characters while using their voices to tell of what transpired between September 7 - September 11, 1857. She tells, in the most talented and eloquent manner, of how a massacre which can be seen as so horrific and unforgivable, could have happened. Because you see, this was not, in the eyes of the perpetrators, an unjustified attack. One can see how a slow fire burned long enough to ignite the tinder of this attack. While certainly not forgivable by any means, lies, manipulation, fear, along with religious, territorial, and political differences overpowered reason and morality. There are powerful lessons within the pages of these painfully emotional and horrifying accounts of the events of that time and are truly only a snapshot of a long struggle between such different groups of people during that time in history.
Yes, this book absolutely gutted me. The cruelty, the horror, the coldness of those responsible for the deaths of so many who were unarmed and deceived so heartlessly is tough to get through. But the importance of the story is undeniable, especially because it is narrated by all sides.
My most sincere thanks to NetGalley, Dynamite Books, and the AMAZING Noelle West Ihli for the incredible opportunity to read an eARC of this powerful novel.

Noelle West Ihli has done it again with another brilliant, and expertly written book! While this book feels more like historical fiction than a thriller, her writing pulls you in and keeps you hooked wanting to read one more chapter. Chapter after chapter you are captivated by the way Noelle describes these events, and connects you intimately with each character.
Set against the backdrop of the Mountain Meadows Massacre in 1857, we meet three incredibly strong and powerful women who endure the most unimaginable hardships. First is Lucy, who's tired of running away from life time and time again. Ten years ago, an anti-Mormon mob drove her family from their homes in Illinois. Now, with those same men rumored to be heading through Utah, she's ready to stand her ground.
Next is Katrina, a young mother of four. She knows the journey west will be tough, but she's walking straight into the dangerous unknown. Determined to protect her family at all costs, Katrina faces challenges that will test her strength like never before.
Lastly, we meet Sally, who's been given as a fourth wife to a man she hardly knows. Feeling trapped and lonely, she tries to make the best of her situation. But when her husband gets involved with a group planning revenge, Sally is forced to rethink everything-loyalties and her own safety included.
Ihli clearly poured her heart into this story, and the attention to detail is impressive. It's a beautiful yet heartbreaking tale that shines a light on a tragic part of American history that deserves more recognition.
This book will bring you from tears to anger and back all within the same chapter.
Thank you to NetGalley, Dynamite books and Noelle West Ilhi
For the ARC of None Left to Tell, this books was fantastic!

This one was a bit hard to get into for me. It took me a bit but was very interested to learn of some of its history.

It pains me to mark this one as a DNF (at 30% through) and I want to emphasize that it has absolutely nothing to do with the writing itself (or even the plot!). As is typical of Noelle W. Ihli, the writing is top notch and the reader can easily tell it’s backed up by thorough research. The plot is intriguing—three women in different life situations in the 1850s who are connected by the Mountain Meadows Massacre—but it just didn’t have the pull that Ihli’s more thriller-based books have for me. Those who are looking for a blend of thriller and historical fiction should absolutely read this one! It just wasn’t the right book for me.
Thank you to Noelle W. Ihli, Dynamite Books, & NetGalley for the ARC! All opinions are my own.

Noelle Ihli always has a knack for creating gruesome thrillers that are somehow soft and unexpected. Even when rooted in history or based on true stories, I find myself surprised. This book had a slow start, which is the main reason for the four stars. I understand that it was important to set up the rest of the story and show how tough life was for people in the west. I thought she was very respectful dealing with these true stories and putting on some fictional spin. I recommend this book to lovers of thrillers and historical fiction.

This book wasn’t for me. I love Noelle and usually love historical fiction but I just couldn’t get into this one 😭😭😭
