I really enjoyed not only the characters, but the worldbuilding in this book! I found the writing style to be great, along with easily readable!
This is the second book I read from this collection and so far, I liked this one more.
This time the story is about an incubus and an art historian. I feel like they had really good chemistry and the love story was not as abrupt.
While she likes her quite life she can't help but wander what I would be like to have a special someone in her life, to spend evenings together and talk about art or history, and soon she starts placing a face on this fantasy. However, the path is as usual not smooth.
Will they work their problems? Will she be scared of his true nature or accept him and the consequences of loving him? Only one way to find out.
The Art Collector by Katelyn Brehm is a paranormal romance novella that blends intrigue, mystery, and romance into a concise, engaging read in a wonderfully gothic setting. Set against the backdrop of Milwaukee, the story revolves around Madelyn Frye, an art historian, and Thomas von Dreiss, a mysterious millionaire with a dark secret. As Madelyn is brought in to appraise his paintings, she finds herself drawn into a world where passion and the supernatural intertwine.
Will they ever have to be alone, again?

A quick paranormal romance with mature characters. I appreciated seeing a new take on a fairly classic trope and plot as well as mature characters that act and think their age. This novella is short, but packs a lot in without overloading. The resolution is a bit too pat, but the character work and unique plot more than make up for it. Generally, I just think this reads a bit more like a debut (which it is), but still a solid addition for any paranormal romance reader who is looking for a short read.
Such a sweet romance! A slightly gothic feel with a little bit of spice. For a novella, this really felt like a complete story. Thomas has recently returned to Milwaukee after the loss of his mother and he’s determined to restore the estate and erase the reminders of her awful nature. Madelyn has always found the estate creepy but can’t turn down the opportunity to appraise the art collection there. As the two grow closer, loneliness fades, but Madelyn has no idea what Thomas is hiding.
I loved the romance that sparks between Thomas and Madelyn over their shared interests. Thomas is an absolute sweetheart who has been yearning for a true companion who can accept all of him. They handled their conflict as mature adults and showed the vulnerability of entering into a new relationship.
Thank you to NetGalley, Victory Editing, and the author for the advanced copy.

This was a fun ,quick and atmospheric read full of mystery and love. As a art lover I loved the spotlight that the writef gave to the story, even if I had to use a lot the translator!
This is a quick and fun read with a sprinkle of mystery. The tension between the two main characters is captivating. So I would’ve liked to see more of the emotional connection between them on page, instead of just being told. The first half was going strong and then everything felt brisk.
As an artist I loved the art side of the story and how the female main character knew so much about it. And while I enjoyed this aspect in the first half. It felt lacking in the second part.
The decidedly different aspect of this story is the age of the female main character. I don’t tend to see older women as the main character in romantasy and I'm still not sure how I feel about this. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing or a deal breaker but definitely weird.
I don’t speak German so I had to use the translator a couple of times to fully understand what he said to her, it was two words but I wanted to know. This adds depth to the character. So for me, it was fun.
At the core, this is a story about giving yourself the chance to live outside of your comfort bubble and to realize that while it can be scary it also has its rewards that make it worth taking the leap.
Oh this is a fun and easy read really, is really short and it was way to romanticize an incubus why shouldn't they have feeling and feel the need of love and care? The idea was there and it was well accomplish
Demons are all bad, right? Well maybe not - maybe some are and some aren't and some just might be looking for a soulmate. A woman finds more than she bargained for, and maybe exactly what she has been looking for, and maybe the demon does too! A quick, sizzling, and very fun read.
