I LOVE Ally’s books!! One of my favorite sport romance writers at the moment. Loved this baseball romance so much!!

The book had potential, it had the makings of a great book - however it fell flat for me,

I personally DNF'd this book, maybe its because I couldn't find their chemistry. However, while it was lacking in chemistry I fell so much for the secondary characters. It just seemed the main characters didn't have the energy I wish they did.

I love a good football romance and this one doesn't disappoint. Both of our main characters, Lottie and Nolan are compelling and interesting in their own ways. This one was a little slow to start but once I kept going it had me kicking my feet and laughing. I loved this light hearted read.

I think I liked Going for Two better than the original one in this series. This was very cute, just like the first book.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publishing team for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Move a good sports romance, and this wasn’t an exception! It was the perfect book to pick up during the post-season, and I feel like even non sports girlies will like this one.

This was a quick, easy football romance! Women in sports!!! I loved Lottie! She’s hard working, fierce & determined. Nolan’s a softie under the minor grump you get near the beginning. I loved the bucket list & them working through it. Overall fun read if you’re into sports romance

Thank you NetGalley & publisher for an arc! Opinions are honest & my own!

A wonderful blend of humor and passion may be found in the cute football romance Going for Two. Lottie, the main character, is extraordinarily resilient, strong, and hardworking. Although her background is heartbreaking, it's amazing to watch how she changes and grows over the course of the story. I couldn't wait to read this book because I enjoyed the first one in the series so much. Both Nolan and Lottie were interesting characters, and I liked how they connected and managed a romantic relationship at work. They are complete opposites, but they balance each other out well.

Going for Two is book two in the Chicago Heartbreakers series where we follow Lottie and Nolan. Lottie is a doctor for the Chicago Bobcats' players. Nolan is the team's quarterback who got injured and is currently playing his last season. Lottie feels she's missing out on life because she has been career-driven all her life, and Nolan can't process the fact that he's about to retire because the sport was everything he knew. I really liked the plot, but I just didn’t really vibe with the characters.

I really enjoyed the first book in the series, First Base. I wanted to like this more than I did, but everything felt so rushed. I wanted to know the individual characters more but I also wanted to know why the characters were so great. Why did Nolan like Lottie? And vice-versa. I felt like the characters weren’t fleshed out nearly enough.

In First Base, I don’t remember feeling this way, so I’m disappointed that this one did make me feel this way. Unfortunately, I don’t think I will continue with this series as they release.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an early copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lotti Thompson just landed the job of her dreams as a physical therapist to the Chicago Bobcats. She is amazing at her job and has a proven track record of helping stars recover from potentially season-ending injuries. And she has been around football her whole life, so she also has some good pointers. Nolan Hill is the Bobcat’s star quarterback but he is getting older and after surgery, though he knows he needs Lottie’s help, he is so wrapped up in the possibility of losing his starting position, he is being a bit of an ass. But eventually he realizes life without Lottie is worse than life without football.

I love a sports romance and I am more of a football girlie than a hockey person. Maybe because it all has to do with my deep love of Kristen Callihan’s Game On series, but anytime there is a quarterback in the story, I am all over it. Ally Wiegand’s Going For Two had some of my favorite troupes: sports romance, grumpy hero, workplace drama. It also fits the bills in other ways: two wounded people, trying to overcome past traumas and learning to let themselves be open to love. Plus some excellent secondary characters who I hope will get their own stories.

As the football season comes to an end and you want to hang on to the drama that plays out on Sundays, pick this one up and enjoy.

This was such a fun read! I love sports romances and I think this might be my new fav! I absolutely adored our main characters and their chemistry was palpable. All of the side characters were so fun and really added to the story!

*3.5

I'm so sad because I loved the first book and I wanted to love this one but I just don't. I didn't really feel a connection to the characters. Even though it ended pretty soon I don't think they should've gotten together so quickly.

Aww, this was really cute! Sport romances are always just the cutest. I enjoyed getting to know Lottie and Nolan. I'm glad Lottie was able to grow and move on past the trauma of her childhood. Nolan getting to be the one to heal that was even better. His need to show her she was worthy of love and being a priority made my heart happy. I hope the next book covers Olivia and Derek because honestly, those two would be great together.

Going for Two by Ally Wiegand
Release Date : October 1st, 2024
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5

Going for Two is such a cute football romance that strikes a great balance between heart and humor. The main character, Lottie, is incredibly strong, hardworking, and resilient. Her backstory is emotional, but seeing her growth and transformation throughout the book is amazing.

Y’all the audacity of Henry had my jaw on the floor. Thankfully he didn’t come back in the story 🤣 The found family dynamic in this book is one of its sweetest aspects, offering warmth and depth to the story.

The banter between characters was another highlight. There were moments that genuinely had me laughing out loud, especially Derek. I hope we get to see more from him.

Overall, if you're a fan of football romances Going for Two is definitely worth a read.

I absolutely loved the first book in the series and couldnt wait to read this book. Nolan and Lottie were both strong characters and I enjoyed their dynamic and navigating a workplace romance. They are complete opposite but balance each other out in the best way. I also loved how it can be a standalone but the books are connected together, but not in an overly obvious way.

Going forward two was absolutely amazing I have loved everything that Ally writes so far. I find her characters to be very relatable

The first chapter is Lottie being sad about the fact that she's single and successful. Which she tells us many times. Then Nolon walks into an empty stadium and turns on a light switch to turn on all the lights. That's not how any of that works. The timeline is bizarre.

Solid 3.5 star read for me

I did not like this nearly as much as the first book but still found it cute and enjoyable.

I feel like everything happened very fast and I think that's why I did not like this as much as the first.

Love Nolan and Lottie though. One of my favorite parts about this book is how much Lottie knows about football and truly loves the game.

I enjoyed this book. I thought the chemistry between Nolan and Lottie was very well written. Their dynamic of being a football player and the team's physical therapist was interesting. It brought a forbidden romance to the plot but I don't think the build up of them not being allowed to date paid off. There was no real consequences and it never felt like they were going to get in trouble. The topic of abandonment issues and being forced to grow up too fast was handled very gently. Overall, I liked the romance and enjoyed the story. I look forward to reading other stories in this series.

I absolutely loved the first book in the series so I couldn’t wait to read the second book! Needless to say I loved this one just as much as the first one and cannot wait for the next book in the series. This book can be read as a standalone even though Tommy and Maggie from the first book make an appearance.

🏈 Physical Therapist X Quarterback
🏈 Grumpy x Sunshine
🏈 Closed door romance

Some of my favorite quotes:

“What I didn’t expect was for you to still see through all my different pretenses and accept me for it all while working with me to figure out how you could best help me achieve everything I want.”

“I’m tired of watching you play second fiddle to everyone else around you in your life. When are you going to go after what you want instead of always playing it cautious solely because that’s what is expected of you?”
