Ally Wiegand books, you are everything to me <3 I have probably an equal love for both books in this series. Wiegands books are so raw and real that they cut deep. They make you really think about the deepest parts of your life, and if anything in her books ring true for you, it's going to be a very emotional read. I think books like these that are dramatical but romantic, a more.. slice of life romance, you could say, are some of the best types of romance books. Some people say they read romance to get away from real life, and to that I raise my cup, but I also love to read romance that makes me think that even in this messed up world we live in, there's still a chance for a little bit of magic in the form of romance. I just know Liv and Derek's book is going to be next and I can't wait for the rollercoaster that's likely going to be. Another great book from Wiegand.

Going for Two was a slow sizzle romance between two opposites. Charlotte and Nolan's relationship development was a bit rocky in the beginning, but it picked up as if an enemies to lovers type of story. I loved how our leading woman helped her leading man find his love for his sport again after an injury that almost took him off the field early. We love a strong leading lady who is paving the way like Maggie from First Base where women are taking on roles you see more men occupy. Going for Two was a wonderful read and I am looking forward to what comes next!

I was a fan of Ally's debut, First Base but let me tell you, i am a SUPER FAN of Going For Two. Lottie and Nolan are quite simply the perfect pairing of sass and care and i was thoroughly entertained by their banter for the entire book. I also really enjoyed how Ally made the guys from the MLB team in the last book friends with the guys on the NFL team in this one. It just made my heart happy to see a fun, (mostly) healthy dynamic in a group of guys carry over into both books.
Ally does a great job of showing conflict and triggers in a way that feels very real, without falling into the trap of the miscommunication trope. Things don't always work out for her characters and they don't always handle situations well, but you never feel like the conflict is pointless. You see real growth in both Lottie and Nolan throughout this book and it genuinely was a delight to see them grow into better people together.
I also love how her books have women absolutely killing it in male-dominated fields. I really think she did a fantastic job of showing how difficult it is to be at the top in these fields as a woman without glossing over why or being a Debbie downer about it. Lottie is a force to be reckoned with in this book and it's a joy to see.
All in all, i was grinning for the entirety of this book and it has started my fall off on a wonderful note. If you are looking for a delightful sports romance to keep you company as football season is getting underway, take this as your sign to put Going For Two at the top of your TBR.

4/5 ⭐️s
🌶️ - multiple scenes, but with minimal descriptions

LOVES:
- The sister, Olivia is the best 😎 she had me from moment one. I really like Nolan’s friends too. And I think I see the hint at who’s book is next, which is great, I love the anticipation 😉
- The way Lottie refuses to back down under his attempts at intimidation or in an awkward setting
- Oh Nolan… 🙂‍↔️ so much to figure out. But it’s nice to see him eventually regain his confidence, start inspiring his teammates, and have fun playing again.
- I appreciate the maturity these main characters show, they aren’t being petty or hurling insults. They have their conflicts and disagreements, but they handle it well.

CRITIQUES:
- The writing felt a little awkwardly cheesy periodically throughout 🧀

Going for Two by Ally Wiegand has physical therapist Lottie starting her dream job with her favorite professional football team, just as Nolan is starting his last season as a legendary quarterback trying to overcome an injury from a few seasons ago to end his career with a final Super Bowl win.

Nolan has no inclination do what Lottie suggests as the team PT, before he even meets her, and Lottie needs to get a life. No really, she needs to start living for something besides her job. She is given a bucket list of things she wants to do, but hasn't made time for by her sister Olivia and Nolan is given unwanted advice to just enjoy this last season by his teammates/best friends. After Lottie makes a suggestion that actually helps him, Nolan is receptive to her help at finally healing his injured knee as much as possible - and acknowledges that she knows as much about football as he does and probably more.

The two of them are reluctant to form a relationship, but they do and I have to admit to like spice in my books and this doesn't have any, but it's still enjoyable. Ms. Wiegand makes her characters likable, fallible, and easy to like - even when they aren't being their best selves. I really enjoyed this book and plan on getting the first in this series so that I know the full backstory and I look forward to Olivia and Derek's book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in consideration of an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Another sweet sports romance from Ally!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this early copy.

Lottie and Nolan are both career driven individuals with different demons to battle. Lottie never focused on her personal life and now is the PT for an NFL football team. She’s achieved greatness in her career, but has a list of things to check off on her personal life. She wants a traditional thanksgiving, a new years kiss, a date that she has a connection with and so much more. She’s tasked with getting NFL player, Nolan, to take better care of his injury. Nolan doesn’t want to like Lottie, but she helps him with much more than his game. He’s patient with her and helps her achieve the goals on her list. However, he has to decide if he’s ready to leave the game and give his all to a family or continue playing until he can’t. Lottie doesn’t want to be second fiddle to a career, so these two have a lot to figure out.

There’s no miscommunication, OW drama, or spice. If you want a little angst with your closed door romance, then pick this one up!

Love my sports romance! And I feel like Lottie realizing her self worth is something that every person can relate to. I do wish there was a conversation about what happened between Lottie and Nolan and why she changed her mind, but I will pretend that it happened.

Nolan is the most amazing golden retriever book boyfriend and he deserves happiness. I can't believe how much I was rooting for him, professionally and personally. I think he showed up for Lottie in so many ways and truly showed how much he cares.

I need to know what happens with Olivia and Derek! And yes, I did put Ally's first book on hold at the library already.

As a physical therapist and football fan I was so excited for this book, but at the end of the day it left me wanting more. The book itself had a nice start but the back and forth of the relationship between Nolan and Lottie left the story lacking any depth. In the last chapter Lottie mentions that Nolan “taught me what it meant to live life without worrying if I’d done enough” and truly I don’t think the author did enough to develop the characters in a way that made that sentiment ring true.

Dr Lottie Thompson has finally achieved her dream job as the newest physical therapist for the Chicago Bobcats NFL team. Champion quarterback Nolan Hill is struggling after an injury two years ago. This is his last season to achieve a third superbowl ring, but his fears have made him a grumpy shadow of his normally effusive self. Sparks fly in more ways than one when Nolan discovers Lottie is determined to help him.

I adored Ally Wiegand’s debut ‘First Base’ and thought it was one of the stronger sports romances out there. I can safely say that ‘Going for Two’ cements my assertions as Wiegand writes an emotional truth about Lottie and Nolan that made me understand why they are the way they are and how they learn to heal. Lottie and Nolan were so adorable and I loved learning all their hidden layers and hurdles which stop them from going after their happiness. I appreciated watching their growth individually and as a couple with a future.

There's an insta attraction, developed slowly as they both grapple with their personal issues. I really appreciated that the focus here was on their developing relationship instead of heading to early declarations of love and spice scene without seeing the genuine connection. Instead, we see many smaller moments where Lottie and Nolan step up for each other. I also appreciated the sage advice dished out to both by their friends.

I can’t wait for the third book, which I’m assuming will feature Olivia and Derek.

Thanks to 8th Note Press and NetGalley for the ARC.

I LOVED this one way more than the second. The whole opposites attract workplace romance sucked me right in and I’m such a sucker for those. Lottie and Nolan had great chemistry, banter and just overall loved their relationship

Look out. Here comes my new favourite sport romance….maybe EVER!!!

I loved Lottie! I wanted to be her and she as a character will stay with me for a very long time. I loved her feistiness, determination, love for sport and vulnerability that she showed. And Nolan!!! Our teddy bear of a quarterback! He had a lot of personal growth that you can’t help but root for! While that is said; he showed the hard side of being a professional athlete; the emotional turmoil and mental health aspects that come into play.

I loved all the side characters, how in detail the football games were and the low level of spice was shocking but much appreciated! I didn’t read the first one (but will now) and never felt like I missed anything! I highly recommend

This book was fun! It was my first time reading from this author and it won't be the last. It is the perfect time of year for this story as well with football just starting and fall in the air. If you love football, you will truly enjoy this story but even if football isn't your favorite you will like it too. All characters were great. From Lottie's sister all the way to Nolan's friends and family. It was heartwarming, not overly steamy as everything was pretty closed doors. You get to see each main character change throughout the season into a better person than when the book started.

This was a strong sequel in the Chicago Heartbreakers series, it had that element that I was looking for based on the first book. The characters had that feel that I wanted in a sports romance novel. It had that element that I enjoyed from First Base and still had that writing style that I enjoyed. Ally Wiegand created another wonderfully done romance novel and I'll be back for more.
