We met Olivia and Riley in the first book of the Red Sky Ranch series (Fire in the Sky). Which is one I highly recommend reading before this one.
This is the second book in the Red Sky Ranch series. Riley is scarred both inside and out following a tragic incident that occurred whilst her crew were fighting wild fires. She has nightmares and anxiety and survivors guilt over it. Olivia Martinez is a NYC business woman whose best friend Elizabeth owns the Red Sky Ranch. Elizabeth asks her to come to the ranch and help her with a new project.
Olivia and Riley are hesitant to enter into a relationship for different reasons. They both feel it could be more than just a fling, so their fear of being hurt is all the greater. Riley also struggles with guilt and doesn't believe she deserves to be happy. In addition to the light love story, there are also a few difficult issues addressed, which adds depth to the story. Overall, it is a lighthearted love story set in the amazing rural landscape of Arizona
I liked book one in the series much better, but this one was much better. I would recommend this book though. I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second book in the Red Sky Ranch series. This has Riley a firefighter who has survived a devastating wildfire several years ago. She has nightmares and anxiety and survivors guilt over it. Olivia Martinez is a NYC business woman whose best friend Elizabeth owns the Red Sky Ranch. Elizabeth asks her to come to the ranch and help her with a new project.
I didn’t feel either character was developed enough. I didn’t get to know Olivia’s character enough to my liking. I did appreciate how close she was to her parents. And the ending was totally predictable from the start of the book.
I liked book one in the series much better. This one had too many holes in it with Olivia’s sexuality, I was confused over it. Riley’s character was better but still needed more embellishment.
I’ve liked many of Radcliffe’s books in the past so this was a disappointment for me.
Thanks to BSB and Net Galley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
This book is part of the serie. I quickly realized it but not reading the first book didn’t prevent me from enjoying this one. I just had a feeling I was missing something. So if you have the opportunity to read it in order it would be probably best.
I liked the chemistry between Olivia and Riley but like I said I felt like I missed a part of their story. In most books I know why characters fall in love, why they attract each other or complete each other, here it’s not really explained expect they feel at peace with each other. Weirdly, their chemistry was so good I bought it.
I wished the fact that Olivia didn’t felt like New York was home anymore was a bit more progressive, because there were not really steps , one day NYC is home and the other Riley is. I also like how Riley's trauma is tackled and how she still works on it. Nevertheless, I had a taste of not enough concerning her tendancy to get in danger uselessly (I am not talking about her job here) , it's mentioned but not really resolved in the end.
Overall it was a book I enjoyed this book even though some details tickled my brain. Can I expect a book with hot Hadley now ?
When the Rivers Series ended and Radclyffe debuted this series with a co-writer I admit that I was nervous to see what was going to come of it. I could not be happier and I'm already counting down to the next book in this series. Take me to the ranch! I love second-chance romances and this book had it all. Love drama, family dynamics, and friends.
Olivia Martinez, forced to leave her high-power Manhattan job with no prospects, is at a crossroad. Not only is she a city girl down to the tips of her Jimmy Choos, she wants to stay close to her parents, who depend on her more than they’d like to. Generally not a risk taker, Olivia steps out of her comfort zone when her best friend, Elizabeth Sutton, asks her to temporarily lend a hand at the Red Sky Ranch. After all, what can a few months change, and New York City is just a plane ride—or three—away, right?
Haunted by an hour that changed her life, Riley Mitchell escapes the memories and the guilt by riding motorcycles way too fast, skydiving, and running into burning buildings. She is good-looking, charming, and never wants for female company, as long as no commitment is expected. When Olivia returns to the Red Sky Ranch, Riley’s carefully crafted safe world goes up in flames.
Red hot slow burn! The two women in this story are so different from each other - but you know what they say: Opposites attract! Beautifully realistic and relatable, I loved both of these women. I loved this story and how everything wraps up so nicely at the end. I highly recommend this hot sapphic romance!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced digital reader's copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review!
This is my first red sky romance novel and I absolutely loved it. I’ve never read a sapphic romance and would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a beautiful love story!
Olivia and Riley couldn’t be more on the opposite ends of the spectrum with regards to emotional availability, timing and location.
Olivia has not yet shared with her family her orientation, and internalizes alot of her guilt with her parents and her need to constantly people please.
Enter Riley, who is a selfless firefighter who puts the needs of others above herself and is suffering the effects of a tragic fire that claimed the lives of her friends. Anxiety and PTSD are at the forefront of her struggle.
When Olivia and Riley reunite, their attraction and pull to each other is immediately rekindled and it took a life of its own. Their own hesitations took a back seat and I loved reading their love story unfold as they navigated their own internalized struggles.
They, in a sense, healed each other. It was beautiful to read and the authors do an excellent job at showcasing the humanity of love and the complex emotions that surround one’s journey of self discovery.
I will absolute be reading more books in this series and am hoping to see more of Riley and Olivia.
Thank you to Bold Strokes Books, Radclyffe & Julie Cannon for allowing me the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Check out Wild Fire, releasing on October 15!

We met Olivia and Riley in the first book of the Red Sky Ranch series (Fire in the Sky). Now it's time for their own story.
When Olivia returns to Red Sky Ranch in Arizona to work for her best friend Elizabeth and her wife Kelsey again, she thinks it will only be a temporary job. After all, it came at just the right time, shortly after she had to quit her previous job.
Riley is a firefighter with all her heart. But an incident has scarred her inside and out and changed her life. Now she's chasing adrenaline and is not really caring about her own life but about everyone else. Maybe the right woman could banish her fears and nightmares.
And sometimes opposites attract, so when they meet again, the embers between them are rekindled. Should they extinguish the embers or fan them into a fire of love? But what happens when Olivia returns to Manhattan?
Olivia and Riley are hesitant to enter into a relationship for different reasons. They both feel it could be more than just a fling, so their fear of being hurt is all the greater. Riley also struggles with guilt and doesn't believe she deserves to be happy. In addition to the light love story, there are also a few difficult issues addressed, which adds depth to the story.
Overall, it is a lighthearted love story in a beautiful rural Arizona setting.

Another on the Red Sky Ranch series. As good as the first one. I don't think Radclyffe has disappointed me yet with any of her books. I would certainly recommend this one.
This is book two in the series that began with 'Fire in the Sky.' It's set at Red Sky Ranch and follows the women who originally lived in the town of Wickemburg, Arizona. In this book, we focus on Riley, a firefighter who also does building inspections, and Olivia, the project manager who works for Elizabeth, the star of the previous novel who now lives on the renovated ranch.
Olivia's a city girl. She's out of her element on the ranch and has no plans to settle down there. But when Elizabeth calls about a new expansion project, and with things being so tense at work, she decides to head back there for a bit. She's only going back temporarily, though—it's not really her scene.
But she doesn't expect Riley to rekindle the spark they had during their first stay, and this time it won't just be a spark. Although, Riley also has reservations about getting involved with Olivia.
Rural setting, a bit of drama, and a pretty classic romance.
Wild Fire, the second book in the Red Sky Ranch series, is a captivating continuation of the story, focusing on Olivia and her dynamic with Riley. The premise of opposites attracting, especially between two strong women, adds an intriguing layer to their relationship.
Olivia's internal struggle with her identity and her family's expectations creates a compelling conflict that many readers can relate to. The tension between her feelings for Riley and the pressure to conform to traditional expectations certainly sets the stage for an engaging narrative.
The chemistry between Olivia and Riley is palpable and the story delivers the heat fans of Radclyffe and Cannon have come to expect. Overall, Wild Fire successfully blends romance, personal growth, and the complexities of love, making it a worthwhile read for fans of the genre.
Riley and Olivia are back on the page, woo! Olivia has some horribleness at her Sutton job and winds up working for Elizabeth again. That means going back to Red Sky Ranch. And seeing Riley again. That last part isn't super smooth sailing. Both women have some real baggage. But, as they get closer, but, can they overcome the hurdles? What a fun read. I also hope that we maybe get another book in the series. A little something about Josie or the new character introduced a little in this book.
Wildfire is a wonderful follow up Red Sky Ranch story to Fire in the Sky. Readers are once again united with Elizabeth and Kelsey, however this time the focus is on Elizabeth’s right hand woman, best friend, Olivia. She has returned from New York to once again help the pair with a project on the ranch and to definitely not think about the hot firefighter Riley who makes her heart race.
It’s an opposites attract in so many ways for these two strong women, but sparks fly whenever the two meet. Both have issues they must sort out if they hope to have any type of relationship. If you are a Radclyffe or Cannon fan you will know there will be some heat in this story and how it will play out and it doesn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed catching up with the Red Sky Ranch family and hope for more storylines about them.
Wild Fire is book 2 in A Red Sky Ranch Romance where we previously met firefighter Riley and Olivia, the assistant to the ranch owner.
Olivia has never shared the fact that she prefers women, her mother and father are expecting her to marry a man and have children. But Riley makes her feel things.
These two are continuing to play a cat and mouse game until the mouse gets caught.
Now how to love Riley and her parents could get tricky
Nice follow up to book 1. Enjoyed all the ranch characters .
Thank you #netgalley #boldstrokesbooks #wildfire for this ARC
I was so invested in Book 2 of the A Red Sky Romance series. The relationship that developed between Olivia and Riley hit me straight to the core as I could really empathized with the characters difficulties in their respect work and personal lives. Authors Radclyffe and Julie Cannon are the perfect pair. They highlight each others talent. Overwhlmingly enjoyed.
Thank you to Bold Strokes Books, Inc. and NetGalley for provdigin an eARC for a honest review.
Wild Fire is book 2 in the Red Sky Romance series by Radclyffe and Julie Cannon. I haven’t read the first book in the series, and it didn’t matter at all. I’d like to track it down and read it, but it isn’t crucial to understanding the plot or characters of this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I chose it because I knew I’d be in safe hands, with the authors having written dozens of books each, and I was. It kept me entertained from the first page, and I blew through it in two days.
The introduction of the characters is fun. The main character, Olivia, is smart, gutsy and a New Yorker, and the connection she has with her boss Elizabeth is a delight. Instantly I felt the long-term connection between these friends, and the banter was laugh out loud funny from the first chapter.
Olivia’s potential romantic partner, Riley, is a firefighter with a penchant for danger, and a fierce desire to protect and nurture others. Riley is more complex as a character, and some of this is visible without the darker elements ever threatening to overwhelm the lighter tone of the book. Cleverly done, to bring that into the mix without changing the tone, but it provides a bit of gravitas that underpins the romance.
The location is great, with enough description to let us know where they are, but really this is about the characters and how they go from sort-of-friends to lovers to ever after. It is a joy to read, and kept me chuckling all the way through. I highly recommend this book.

Olivia and Riley, having met in Book 1 , are reacquainted when Olivia returns to work with Elizabeth at Red Sky Ranch. They soon find that the initial attraction they had for each other is still there, but neither of them knows what to do about it.
Riley is a battle-worn fire fighter who has seen her share of trauma and wears it close to her heart. She is dedicated to her job, and accepts the risks it involves without question. For these reasons she is hesitant to allow anyone into her heart.
Olivia, sees her return to Arizona as temporary, and tries unsuccessfully to deny the attraction she feels towards Riley. However she soon realises she has to come to terms with the fact that she is falling for another woman, and one whose life is constantly put in danger. Add family drama, Riley's traumatic past and current demons, and Olivia's resistance to making the move to Arizona permanent, and you have a good recipe for an angsty, yet passionate romance.
Once the fledgling relationship starts as a fling, the title Wild Fire aptly describes the dynamics between the two. There is much heat and passion but can they resolve their issues together and turn the relationship into something more permanent?
The embers that burned slowly and steadily between Riley and Olivia never died out.
But time and distance came between them and the disbelief that something permanent and real could develop.
After all, they were best friends with Kelsey and Elisabeth.
Friendship is not something you risk for something quick and fleeting... and there can and must not be more.
At least not for Olivia, who is still somehow in the closet to this day.
At least as far as her family is concerned. They were raised Catholic and believers.
Olivia is sure that her parents cannot and would not understand.
But Riley and their time together - especially those beautiful dances - are always somehow on her mind. Riley is tormented by the past and because of this she prefers a quick and particularly short affair.
Olivia, however, could be so much more, but she is in Manhattan, she is Elisabeth's best friend and Kelsey would never forgive her if that were ruined because of Riley.
But what if Olivia wasn't in Manhattan... what if she was given a chance?
Could she open up?
Could she share her past pain, which is also visible on her skin? Could she show herself vulnerable?
I was very happy that these two got their chance and their own story. I loved the first book and the second was just as wonderful and extremely hot as the first. A must for anyone who likes Radclyffe and Julie Cannon romances and the combination of these two authors is simply brilliant!
Thanks to the authors and Bold Stroke books for this ARC via NetGalley!!
I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.
Olivia is at a crossroads when her best friend Elizabeth calls her ask for her help in a big project she doesn’t want to leave her parents because they depend on her. Riley is running from her past she a firefighter who have deep wounds but have a big heart she doesn’t want to get close to anyone but when Olivia come to town her heart have other ideas. The chemistry was good I like seeing Elizabeth and Kelsey again can’t wait for the next book but I do hope Radclyffe write another mystery thrillers series because I love her Justice series I reread it a lot.
Hot fires and an even hotter f/f romance
I was so in the mood for a good romance, great chemistry and real-life characters when I picked up Wild Fire. And ladies, do those two accomplished authors deliver - with all the bells and whistles you‘d wish for in a great romance.
The setting is fun: Olivia is a femme and city girl from Manhattan helping her BFF Elizabeth with a big project on her ranch set in the Arizona desert. Riley is a butch firefighter with scars inside and out and a very big heart. Both are gun shy for … reasons! radclyffe and Cannon spin a wonderful story with a lot of chemistry, soul-searching, the head interfering with the heart, and again chemistry. Chemistry! I truly enjoyed how Olivia and Riley gravitated to each other and I loved the character driven love story. The writing is smooth, compelling, not a dull moment. There is a sprinkle of serious topics which adds stamina to the romance - firefighting is a dangerous job.
The highlight: One of the best almost-kisses I have read for a long time, an excellent first kiss and the scorching heat is not only there when Riley has to fight fires.
This is a spin-off of Fire in the Sky (A Red Sky Ranch Romance). You can read Wild Fire as a stand-alone or start with Fire in the Sky, a great enemies-to-lovers romance.
Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. The review is left voluntarily.
I have read a few books by Radcliffe, but none by Julie Cannon. Their collaboration on this book was wonderful. Riley and Olivia were beautiful together. One could almost feel Olivia’s fear for Riley. The secondary characters were enjoyable as well. A very good read. I highly recommend reading this book.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley, and am leaving this review voluntarily.
