This book is listed as a romance, but I found it has an erotica theme. Right at the beginning of the book there is sex, sex, and sex. You could tell it had some connection to the initial story line. Readers will immediately sense that there is more to follow.

There wasn't much meat to this story. Basically, two women meet up for a one-night stand. The next day they learn they have to work together as partners and new associates at a law firm. So, the story is basically about how are they going to work together and still be able to carry on with their sexual relationship.

The two main characters were not well developed. Their work and personality traits were seen through the sex scenes and their interactions at work.

I rate this book only as 2.5 out of 5 stars. For someone who wants to read about lesbian sex and get turned on, this would be a great book. Personally, I prefer a creative story, with interesting characters and some sex,
preferably sex that isn't so explicit.

Writ of Love by Cassidy Crane offers a fun and engaging office romance centred around Kelly, a fresh-faced lawyer, and Jillian, her no-nonsense boss. The plot kicks off with a sizzling one-night stand that turns awkward when the characters realise they now work together. Kelly is a refreshing character, with her strong moral compass and dedication to her work. I enjoyed following her as she navigates both her career and her budding feelings for Jillian.

Jillian, on the other hand, brings a lot of emotional complexity to the table. Though she initially tries to keep things casual with Kelly, her growing soft spot for her is clear early on. Jillian’s strong exterior starts to crack as her feelings deepen, which adds a lovely emotional layer to the story. However, her constant hot-and-cold behavior can feel a bit jarring, and at times, her actions make it difficult to fully root for her relationship with Kelly.

Overall, the book is a delightful office romance with a good balance of tension, passion, and character growth. The chemistry between Kelly and Jillian is undeniable, and the obstacles they face, both internal and external, make for a satisfying plot. Despite a few hiccups in pacing and character development, Writ of Love is a great debut for those who enjoy slow-burn romances with strong, career-driven leads. I look forward to reading more from the author in future.

Writ of Love was a delight to read. The trope of two characters meeting each other at work after a fun one night stand is not new but it is a joy to see the characters squirm while they discover how much they truly care about each other.

Cassidy Crane delivers on that promise in this book, with the high-powered attorney Jillian Briggs who is looking for a celebratory romp after the finalisation of her divorce with the snarky ex. A hundred other partners in the firm and most would love to see her fail, and Jillian is not about to launch into something with a new recruit.

Kelly Lattimore is the newly minted lawyer, fresh from Harvard and Yale, who meets a hot older woman in a bar and has a fabulous night with her, only to find she’s the boss in her new job. She has a mountain of debt to pay off and working for a big firm is the most expedient way to do that before she focuses on pro bono work. Falling in love with the new boss is not in her career plan.

There are obstacles galore, both internal and external to the characters, which are well set up by Crane so the story has some bumps in it for delicious reading. The sex scenes are steamy and cleverly contribute to character development and to their dynamic as a pair. I needed to know what happened next to the characters and blew through this in a day. It was a joy to read.

This was an enjoyable read, featuring office romance / one-night to workplace to forever romance, and age gap romance tropes. Kelly, a new associate at Jillian’s law firm, was definitely my favorite character. Jillian was written as harder and icier, but also had her soft moments - usually involving Kelly.

I got pulled into the story quickly, and read it nearly in one sitting (didn’t get anything else done that day!). Definitely a relatively low angst, low stakes/stress read that will be filed under my list of books to reread.

would like to thank netgalley and the publishers for letting me read this book

if you like an office/lawyer trope then this is the book for you

jasmine aka jillian briggs had enjoyed her very energetic one night stand the other night what she wasnt expecting was the said one night stand to be standing in her office as her associate....

and neither did kelly.... it was jillian that recovered first and got kelly settled into her office.... but where they went from there is anyones guess....

and for the next two weeks jillian and kelly had to work together very close together on a case.....nothing awkward about that...right....

but pesky feelings and attractions kept getting the better of them....

this i have to admit was funny and illuminating to read...

i cant wait to read more of this authors books

Kelly and Jillian have a one night stand then end up working together...two great characters and a well paced storyline make for a very good sapphic romance. This one has several very steamy scenes, too!

Kelly and Jillian had a one night stand before Kelly walks into her new job and finds out who her boss is. Now as hard as they try they can’t keep their hands off one another. But what happens if people find out. But is that all there is to it?
Nobody ever said love was easy, who said anything about love.
Well we’ll see how that goes. And don’t forget the ever obnoxious ex girlfriend.

My personal preference is not a just met, love scene. I like to have seen character chemistry. This book starts with a one night stand….. to forever obvs! Possibly because of my preference I didn't enjoy the first “intimate” scene. Actually it wasn’t intimate, it was a bit off a bingo card. Direction, strap on, incredible and of course baby and begging. (I realise this will be a plus to some!)
30% in, and the next intimate scene is at least after characterful interactions, which would have been fine, except the characters had just doubled up from laughter, from stuff that was perhaps smirk enduring rather than hysterical (in fairness, I have this gripe with many, many novels). I might be grumpy today, so going to stop reading now and try tomorrow.
Well I'm not sure if I'm less grumpy or not. I'm not enjoying any of the physical intimate scenes, hurt and injuries don't do it for me. For those that do, there is plenty to enjoy. I am enjoying the rest tho. I continued to enjoy the rest and towards the end of the book the intimate scenes were less, and as I didn't get any more fond of the style, for me this was a good thing.

This was an interesting read. The attraction between the two main characters started to develop slowly after the initial one night stand. Poor Jillian was so paranoid, it was irritating for a while. When she finally relaxed, she and Kelly's relationship evolved. There were several spicy sex scenes that the author wrote very well. I enjoyed the secondary characters as well. Be patient with Jillian, as she is slow to realize her feelings for Kelly. I received this book through Net Galley, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Jillian Briggs is a forty-five year-old experienced, high powered attorney who is days fresh from her divorce. She enlists the help of an app to help her find a one night stand to help her forget her troubles. Kelly Lattimore recently graduated Yale Law School and on Monday she will be starting her new job as a legal associate for a large law firm. At twenty-five, she has left a relationship with her best friend, Dan, and is wanting to explore a more fulfilling experience she she suspects she may be gay. She posts her profile on the dating app and is matched with Jillian, although both women are using fake names. They meet up, hit it off, and promptly have a one night stand. The next day both women are surprised when Kelly is one of the new associates at the law firm where Jillian works. To add to the intrigue, Jillian is assigned to mentor and help Kelly through her first two weeks when the lawyer to whom Kelly was assigned has broken his ankle.

This was a compelling story about two intelligent women, one whom is highly gun shy about any kind of relationship following her divorce and the other who is trying to understand her sexuality. Throw in office relationship dynamics after their one night stand turns into more and this story finds its legs. There are also several spicy and sizzling scenes that keep things interesting. 4 stars

I enjoyed reading this lawyer age gap book. It started as a one night stand, Kelly's first time with a woman, and then the next morning they end up at the same office. Kelly is a darling even if also she comes with a baggage, but Jillian with a bad divorce behind her is a really struggling with the thought of going for something more than a casual fling especially with someone so much younger than her. The extra complication that they work at the same office makes their romance even more of a challenge. After a lot of hot sex their feelings develop more and more but of course a lot of hick-ups on the way until they HEA. As a conclusion this is a nice light fun office romance read.

This book was good.

It follows Kelly, a lawyer stuck in Big Law, and Jillian, her no-nonsense boss, who accidentally hook up before realizing they’ll be working together. Sparks fly, and though they try to keep things casual, their feelings gets in the way.

I really enjoyed how Jillian’s soft spot for Kelly show up pretty quickly even if she does everything to avoid it. But also how she’s speaking her mind without caring for the world’s opinion.

Kelly was such a nice character, definitely my favorite surprisingly for me. She’s got a sensible past but doesn’t let it bring her down which is very inspiring.

Now, on the why it’s only gonna be a 4 stars for me. Jillian’s words and actions gave me whiplash many times during this book that made me resent her a little bit and doubt of the authenticity of her feelings for Kelly.

But even considering this little bump during my reading, I’d still recommend this book if you like a sweet office romance between lawyers.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books for providing me with an ARC.

L-O-V-E-D this SO much! Hot lawyers in heels—yes please!

I devoured the book in an evening, which I rarely do, but debut author Cassidy Kane’s Writ of Love starts with a spicy bang and then… well, continues the sparks n fizzles to create a delicious office, boss–employee, age-gap romance that sparkles and radiates.

There may not be anything earth-shatteringly original here; indeed, if you enjoyed Morgan Adams’ View from the Top, published last spring, you’ll find similar notes and fizz here. Ms. Crane employs the hot-lesbian-lawyers-who-can’t resist-each-other tropes very well. Both the leads are very likable and you’ll find yourself rooting for both of them, for sure.

This is an easy, low angst read with flowing prose, super characters, and hot scenes. All of which combine very well to make Writ of Love an accomplished debut with not a wasted word throughout. My fave debut this year!

Thanks to the author, the publisher Bold Strokes Books, and to NetGalley for this ARC.

A smart, sizzling office romance that dives into the high-stakes world of Big Law, where ambition and desire collide. Kelly Lattimore is a determined young attorney about to start a new job. A one night stand before the big day couldn’t hurt. The last thing she expects is for her one-night stand to turn out to be her new boss, the formidable and stunning Jillian Briggs. And so, things get complicated fast. As they attempt to keep their relationship purely physical, deeper feelings begin to surface, testing both women’s boundaries and resolve. Fans of workplace romances will find it hard to put down!
