So Into You by Kathleen Fuller

Rating: 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to the publisher, Netgalley, and the author for access to this book in exchange for an honest review! I received the digital ebook and audio ARCs of So Into You from the publisher via NetGalley.

So Into You is an excellently written book that highlights some of the tougher parts of life, while simultaneously remaining lighthearted and positive. It explores the subject of mental health through the story of Britt, an artist with social anxiety, and Hunter, a reformed alcoholic. Their unexpected friendship grows into a meaningful relationship marked by healing and hope.

It’s told through the point of view of four characters- Britt, Hunter, along with Britt’s parents, Amy and Daniel. The multiple perspectives work well and I was thrilled to see the progression of the story through multiple POVs.

Overall, this is a wonderful story that’s primarily about letting go of insecurities, taking a leap of faith, forgiving oneself and others, and second chances. This is a clean romance with abounding joy, love, and light. Highly recommend!

The audiobook version of So Into You is very well done. It kept me engaged throughout with fantastic pacing and tone. It’s super easy to stay connected to the characters and plot with the audiobook.

2.5⭐️ I felt like this was okay. The FMC & MMC had so much potential to grow together but it felt overshadowed by Britt's parents backstory. I ended up skimming through some of her parent's story because I didn't find it interesting but I'm sure it showed why she was the way she is. It felt like if the author focused less on that relationship and the relationship on the MC's, it would have been way better.

I didn't like the miscommunication aspect as it was easily avoidable and almost painful to read. I did like that both MC's were trying to improve themselves throughout but I don't think it was done as well as it could have been.

I did love the quote from the book though; "you have to gice yourself the freedom not to be perfect" - I thought that was beautiful. Everyone struggles and the book was able to highlight some normal mental health struggles.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a tough book for me to review. There were a lot of elements I did like — the multiple POVs, the concept of the story with a socially anxious artist FMC and a directionless MMC, etc. Even the dual storylines of the FMC’s parents re-falling in love was very sweet. However, there was so much focus on addition and recovery that I really wish there had been a clear trigger warning here telling me not to read this book. I had a hard time identifying with the FMC as well.

I really enjoyed this audio. Full transparency, it took time to get into the story but about 1/4 way through I couldn’t put it down! Will be recommending!

I needed a good romcom, and So Into You really came through for me! I am enjoying the "secret identity" trope lately, and these characters were great. I feel their careers and interests varied, plus a couple of age groups are covered, so there's something for every reader here. A couple of characters had rough pasts, and I loved the encouragement that came from forgiveness, compassion and new beginnings. I got goosebumps, and I was teary a couple of times, so that's 5 stars from me!

I listened to the audiobook which was well done.

I received this ARC from NetGalley. Opinions are my own.

While I know Kathleen Fuller more from her books that feature the Amish, I've also been impressed with her contemporary romance stories. Her characters are always unique, with issues that love is finally able to cover. So Into You brings together Britt Branch and Hunter Pickett in a way that only God could orchestrate.

Britt has a successful YouTube channel, where she teaches all kinds of art from drawing to sculpture to painting. She is confident behind her camera, but she has one BIG problem. Her severe social anxiety has made going out in public nearly impossible. She still attends church with her mother and goes to K & B Art Supply (on Mondays when no one else is there) but just thinking about going anywhere that people congregate is enough to send her hear rate into orbit and cause her sweat glands to over-produce. When her best friend asks her to be her maid of honor, instead of jumping at the chance, she asks to think about it. Can she set aside her anxiety to be there for her friend? She knows she wants to change, but even her years of therapy haven't helped.

Hunter Pickett grew up with every advantage. Gorgeous? Check. Athletic? Check. Wealthy family? Check. The third son in a family of over-achievers, Hunter made his mark by getting in trouble. His life was one big party, complete with drinking, drugs, and any woman he wants, until he lands in jail. a wake up call that turns his life completely around. Now, he's 3 years sober in a dead-end job still trying to find his place in the world. His parents went "no contact" with him, back when he was carousing, so he doesn't feel their support. Landing on Britt's channel is a fluke, but her voice soothes his spirit somehow and she intrigues him. Not only that, he finds that he can finally sleep, something that's been difficult without his former crutches of drugs and alcohol.

As Hunter starts chatting with Britt, he discovers a thoughtful, witty woman that he'd like to know better. When she confides her social anxiety, he thinks he can help her. He talks her into giving him art lessons in exchange for helping with her anxiety. They both still have secrets, but secrets have a way of coming out. When their secrets detonate, more than just their relationship is at risk. Will Britt retreat to her safe space, never to be seen again, or will she finally choose to live?

I loved so much about this story! Britt is all but agoraphobic. She does leave the house, but only goes to places she won't see other people. Yes, she was bullied as a child, but her parents' marriage tipped her over the edge. Now that her dad is sober, he is trying to make amends - which has helped - but it also makes her lie to her mother about who she spends time with. When Hunter steps into her life, she can't believe that a gorgeous man like him could ever be interested in someone like her. Hunter sees all the good things, not the neurotic mess she sees in the mirror. Hunter was a great leading man, in my opinion.

Readers who enjoy contemporary romance with a smattering of faith throughout, will love So Into You. The characters have their quirks and foibles, but they are working through them with grace. I loved the story! I listened to this one through the NetGalley Shelf app, and can definitely recommend the audio version as well!

Britt runs a successful art tutorial Youtube channel and deals with pretty severe social anxiety. Hunter stumbles across her page one day and is immediately drawn in and quickly realizes she lives in the same area as him. The two meet and Britt starts giving Hunter art lessons and Hunter helps Britt out with her anxiety.

This story was sweet, but didn't really stand out too much for me. Britt and Hunter both felt relatable. I felt like the depiction of social anxiety was fairly accurate, but wish there had been more focus on therapy and medication in addition to basically just exposure. The addition of the parent's perspectives made for a different read, and aided in the set up parts of the story.

I listened to the audiobook, which had a good narrator but I wish it had multiple since there were 4 POV characters and it got confusing at points whose POV was current.

Tropes
* Miscommunication
* Clean romance

The plot, character development, world building, narration, and storyline were all excellent. I would strongly advise reading it if you're searching for a clean romance and don't mind a lot of point of view and side stories. Otherwise, you might not enjoy it. From start to finish, this story held my attention! I loved spices more than anything else!

The story shows how Britt's social anxiety affects her daily life. She is a successful YouTuber who is still living with her mother. Hunter stumbles across her channel and finds her voice soothing, helping him with his insomnia. He finds himself an unlikely art student of Britt's, and he helps her with his anxiety.

Britt's father has returned to her life, but she fails to tell her mother he is back. Life has a funny way of bringing everyone crashing together. The story shows how important communication and friends are in our lives. I truly enjoyed the entire story.

More like 3.5 stars. I loved the story between britt and hunter it was cute. Britt makes online art videos who has social anxiety. Hunter was a troubled teen who had been cast out from his family. Hunter found britts vids on his feed and sent her a dm about art they eventually accidentally meet each other after recommending art supplies. He offers to help her with her social anxiety in exchange for some art lessons. One thing I didn't like is it went into britts mom and dad's POV it dealt with each other Daniel was an alcoholic who broke up the marriage with Amy nearly 20 years ago. I think It kinda took away from the story between britt and hunter.

I really liked how this started and moved forward, the book is excellent on second chances and what returning citizens from prison have to face with romance and art, but it also took a little too long and the secrets were a little too mich

Narrator: the narrator chosen was a good choice, but the audiobook could have used a male narrator as well. In addition to the two main characters, there are two side character POVS. Four characters for one narrator felt like too much.

Story: the four main character’s lives are intertwined and readers see play out through the story. The author did a good job connecting each of them.

I enjoyed seeing the relationship grow and change between the father and daughter in the story, both together and individually. We also get to see how characters are given a second chance to make their life better after a troubled past.

The transition for each character POV wasn’t clear and took time to figure out which character was speaking. This is where a second narrator would have been helpful. I do think this may have come across clearly in a physical book.

This book deals with anxiety and overcoming addiction.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to the audiobook.

Thank you, Net Galley and Publisher, for providing me this wonderful and super fun audiobook!!

Now that I got hang of audiobooks, i trying to get more and more because they're so convenient. I enjoyed So Into You Alot while commuting to work.
Britt, the introvert artist youtuber, struggling to deal with anxiety after her parents separated but after meeting Hunter, who helped her getting through the difficult times in exchange for "art lessons". Hunter, himself, had a drinking history with bad relations with his family.

I enjoyed how much they listened to each other even though they both hiding so many things but i think they even reached that point where it was necessary to tell. They were getting to know each other slowly which was wholesome.

Now that i had been a week since i read it i feel like i forgot everything so pardon my short review. All i can think of is it was such a cute read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Publishing for providing me the opportunity to review an early copy of this novel as well as an early copy of the audiobook. All of the thoughts and the opinions expressed are my own.

Britt Branch is an artist with social anxiety and a successful youtube channel where she teaches art lessons. Changes are happening in Britt’s life causing her to realize that she has to make some changes. Once change that has come about is the return of her dad into her life.

Hottie, Hunter Picket has always had model worthy looks but because he was always different this leads him down a path of self destruction; smoking, drinking and drugs. He is the third son of a set of wealthy parents. He has now done jail time, got hooked up with a church and is in his 3rd year of sobriety. He has a full time job working at a factory. However, he is not sleeping and one night while scrolling he finds Brit’s channel and begins to watch, which leads to him sleeping better. Eventually they exchange messages and then eventually they find out they are in the same place and then meet accidentally. And the story goes from there.

I enjoyed this book but many of the characters aggravated me. Most of them needed to learn to communicate. Most of the problems these characters faced could be solved with one upfront early on honest conversation. These giant hot messes of communication drama tend to get on my nerves a tad bit.

This book was definitely not heavy on the faith. Church was mentioned a few times but it did not seem to be a top priority for all of the characters. Both characters that were struggling with addiction did have a faith they were building on. Some of Britt’s social anxiety might have been dealt with better with some prayer,

I enjoyed the narrator for this book. Her voice kept me drawn in and interested in what was happening in the story. I did not find her too dry or too boring.

I would recommend this book to people looking for a sweet book that deals with some hard issues. However, if the lack of communication trope gets on your nerves this one might not be for you. Overall, I would give this book 3 ½ stars but rounded up to four stars for goodreads.

How ironic that the heroine in this contemporary romance struggles with social anxiety, because my empathetic reader anxiety levels kept me mildly uncomfortable throughout the story. Especially as I began to understand how things were going to play out. I’m still kinda reeling with aftershock.

The multiple point of views played a hand in amping up that anxiety, as messy lives gradually converge into an epic scene of disastrous chaos! I was dreading it but, at the same time, couldn’t tear my eyes away from the train wreck happening right in front of me. Oy — the emotions, the mistakes, the miscommunications, the misunderstandings! So many layers of angst!

I appreciated the sensitive way the author handled the mental health issues in this novel. Britt is literally crippled by severe social anxiety and Hunter is a recovering addict. Fuller depicts both their struggles and triumphs realistically and leaves readers with a better understanding of these issues and the difficulties that come from trying to break free while maintaining family support and acceptance.

So, a different kind of second chance romance, even though the hero and heroine have just met. I really liked the idea of them getting their individual second chances together (if that makes any sense.)

The romance starts out sweetly, well, once you get past their excruciatingly awkward meet-cute! Love the way Hunter accepts Britt’s limitations and sets about gently wooing her through friendship first. She’s naturally cautious, her struggle to move out of her comfort zone is palpable and made for some intense reading.

They both have complex family situations which play a major role in the way the story plays out. We get two more POVs and there comes a point where they all converge in the same aforementioned epic scene. Phew! Results in some epic fallout too.

But, thankfully, Fuller doesn’t leave it there and I really enjoyed the way she sorts everything (and everyone) out by the end. Big sigh of relief!

I listened to the audio edition of ‘So Into You’ and enjoyed Melissa Moran’s narration. I like the way she portrayed these characters and their emotional story — she kept me listening even when I didn’t want to. lol

My thanks to Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio and Net Galley for providing me with an audio edition of this novel.

I tried with this one, I really did. Like I thought this book was gonna be about Britt and Hunter and you keep getting other POVs. I lost interest. I really didn't care for the other people. I wanted to see more of Britt being out of her safe zone and Hunter helping her.

I got an alc of this book on NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

**Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for this advanced audio copy of, So Into You, in exchange for an honest review.**

Audio Narration 🎧 5/5 ✨

So Into You was my first book by this author. I was pleased with most of it. I thought the writing was pretty good and the story held my attention the whole way through. This book deals with addiction and anxiety over multiple generations. It’s listed as a Christian romance but is not at all over the top with faith themes- which given the subject matter, in this particular instance, I wish it would have had more of a faith element to it. I did like the characters and felt a connection to them although, these characters were supposed to be close to 30 and it read like they were teens or college kids and that was a bit of an annoyance. The audio narrator did an excellent job on reading it and it was told from multiple (4) POVs. If you’re looking for an easy read with a sweet romance just for enjoyment-without a whole lot of depth , I would recommend this.

Britt and Hunter can't be more different. Or so it seems. She is a shy vlogger. He is a handsome and confident man. But they share more struggles than it seems. Can they help each other fight their fears and face life together? A tangled web of relantionships around them can right a lot of past wrongs. The audiobook with Melissa Moran is a good one.

This was a cute read/listen!

Britt is an introverted and talented artist who struggles with anxiety. She becomes friends with Hunter via her YouTube page and they strike up a mutually beneficial deal: she’ll give him art lessons and he’ll help her over come her social anxiety.

So Into You follows both Britt and Hunter through each of their complicated family dynamics. There is respectful storytelling surrounding some difficult topics like alcoholism and mental illness.

I liked this book but didn’t love it. Some parts felt corny.
The narrator did a good job differentiating voices but it quickly switched between character perspectives which wasn’t always easy to follow. The interweaving storylines was interesting but seemed contrived. The story was predictable but nice.

Thank you to NetGalley for this audio ARC in exchange for my honest review.
