I wanted to love this one—second-chance romance, sports, and some drama? Sounds like my kind of read. But while Teagan and Dominic had chemistry, their relationship felt… unfinished. The past issues that broke them up never really got resolved, just ignored. I needed more depth, more growth. Loved the friend group and the tension, but the miscommunication got frustrating.

I love a good sports romance, and second chance romance when it's done right, but this didn't work for me. Teagan and Dominic individually were really likeable characters, I enjoyed reading about her friendship as part of the Six Gems, and Dominic's giving nature as he took on the provider role for his family. But I don't understand the point of Teagan and Dominic's initial breakup when they just got back together without resolving anything from their past, like their previous issues are ok to be ignored. We didn't really see any of their original relationship or see them building their relationship back beyond physically getting back together and it made it feel like their being together was very surface level, based on feelings of lust rather than actual real feelings for the other person. And was there miscommunication? Nope there was no communication. Every time it seemed like maybe they would have important conversations about the past they would just jump past it like it didn't matter, like they were both deliberately trying not to resolve anything. Thanks Netgalley for the e-ARC!

In Yahrah St. John’s Break Point, Teagan Williams and Dominic Fletcher—former tennis rivals and lovers—face off for a rematch when she’s asked to compete in her country club’s tournament and he attends and enters. Each of them blames the other for the end of their relationship and has a score to settle still. But Teagan and Dominic discover that their attraction and chemistry are as fiery and strong as before, and they have difficulty resisting. Can Teagan and Dominic win on and off the court and prove they can be a winning team in love?
I love St. John’s writing style, which is vivid with detailed descriptions. Her language and natural-sounding, colorful dialogue perfectly fit her characters and themes. Her snappy writing draws you into the story and her characters’ lives. She develops Teagan’s and Dominic’s relations with snarky, intensely emotional, steamy, intimate, sexy, and funny interactions and love scenes. Their connection and feelings for one another are so deep that, despite how things played out in the past, it’s difficult for them to resist the attraction and stay away from each other now. So, they give in to their desire and agree to a friends-with-benefits situation while practicing and preparing for the tournament. Dominic and Teagan’s relationship is complicated because both are burdened with family issues that have shaped how they view themselves, their tennis careers, each other, and their relationship, as well as how they respond to situations considering those things.
Teagan lost her heart and her pro tennis career after suffering an injury and a breakdown the last time she saw Dominic. After his betrayal and that big loss, she gave up tennis and started her life over with a new career outside the sport she loved. Dominic’s primary focus in life has always been tennis, and he gave up everything to become the best, a tennis star, and make enough money to support his family, who relied on him. He’d achieved his dream and become a success, but doesn’t understand why he’s so restless and unhappy until he attends a charity tennis tournament and sees Teagan again.
St. John’s characterization and interactions between Teagan, Dominic, and their families are wonderfully written. I didn’t care for the third-act breakup and found it frustrating. But I think it was necessary for Dominic and Teagan’s character growth and the ultimate resolution of ongoing issues in their relationship dynamics with their parents. Steamy, emotional, sexy, funny, Break Point is a fast-paced read perfect for family-centered, Black love, second-chance, and tennis sports romance fans.
Afterglow Books by HARLEQUIN provided an advanced review copy via Netgalley for review.

When it comes to a sports romance, sign me up. Throw in second chance romance and I am sold. Yahrah St. John has done it againnnnnnn ! I love the six gems!!!
Now for the story, I love how determined Dominic was to get Teagan back. Idk why they were so surprised to see each other lol. Teagan indecent self wasn't going for nothing Dominic was throwing because of how they last ended off.... but if your body tells you one thing while you're trying to pretend it's nothing... maybe you need to check it out & see what's up.
Both Dominic & Teagan felt things once they saw each other, but Teagan was stuck on being upset about her injury and the mics/cameras still rolling, she couldn't believe that Dominic left her side... of course she told herself what she wanted to hear to feel better.
Read this book you will not be disappointed I promise.

Break Point by Yahrah St. John was an enjoyable second-chance romance with just the right mix of drama, ambition, and chemistry. Teagan's journey from heartbreak to reclaiming her confidence felt authentic, and I loved seeing her navigate the tension between past wounds and present desires. Her ex's reappearance was as frustrating as it was compelling, making their dynamic all the more engaging. The country club setting added an extra layer of stakes, especially with Teagan's personal history tied to the sport.
LaDonna Raeh's narration was fantastic. She brought Teagan's emotions to life, capturing her vulnerability and determination. Her voice made the story more immersive, adding depth to the characters' struggles.

This is the sixth book in the Gems series. The Gems are a very tight knit successful group of friends.
This one is about Teagan who is a retired tennis player who was on the rise before she was injured.
She gets asked to play tennis for a benefit with her new country club she joined to boost her clientele with her real estate business.
Then Dominic, who is a pro player, also gets asked to play. But he is the reason she won't date and doesn't play anymore.
This was a second chance romance between two people that never moved on from each other. The media, family, injuries and careers got in the way.
This time around they are more mature, have better friends around them and finally get the full picture ski they can be together. They both had to set family straight.
Love a strong supportive friend group.
Thank you HarlequinPublicityTeam & HarlequinBooks for the gifted copy.

This is the sixth and final book of the 'Gems' series by Yahrah St.John. I have read the previous two and can confidently say that of the three it was my least favorite. In this book we meet Teagan who was once a tennis phenom but after a career (and relationship) ending injury, she has turned her life around and because a real estate professional. All is well until that ex who broke her heart 12 years ago comes back into the picture. While I think this had the set up for a great 2nd chance romance, the writing seems a little basic and to me it didn't have the same tone as the previous books in the series so it was a little confusing how flat the writing was. Also, almost until the end, this book is the miscommunication trope and I just couldn't. It seemed like neither MC wanted to sit down and discuss the past which meant that even conversation led to a misunderstanding.

Break Point by Yahrah St. John is another amazing story written by a favorite of mine.
Julie‘s writing is as sharp and witty as ever, with plenty of humorous and touching moments.
I thought it was so cute and the banter was on point.
From the first page to the last, I was completely engrossed in the story. The characters were richly developed, the plot was captivating, and the writing style was flawless. I found myself unable to put it down, eagerly flipping pages to see what would happen next.

This was the final book in the Six Gems series. Teagan is struggling with her real estate business in a slow market. She joins a country club to try and get more business. This leads to her being talked into playing tennis again. She hasn’t played since she had an injury that ended her tennis career. Then they talk her into helping with the charity tennis tournament. This brings her face to face with her ex, Dominic. He is a tennis champion and is lending his celebrity to the charity as a favor to his agent.
Teagan and Dominic did not end on good terms but the sparks are still there between the two of them. He insists on being around because he wants a second chance, if only to get her out of his system. She wants nothing to do with him and hates that she is still attracted to him. Through his doing, they end up playing doubles together. Once she gives in to his advances, their passion is like an inferno. All they need to do is get over the past so that they can move forward with their lives.
I loved this book and I loved this series. I enjoyed going on the journey to love with each of the Six Gems. This book was a wonderful end to the series.

Happy Pub Day E
I loveeeee a good second chance romance.
Teagan & Dominic were each other's first love & of course being so young the relationship ended. Fast forward to now Teagan is a successful realtor & Dominic is a star athlete.
This was so funny to read because they both were playing around!! Teagan got on my nerves so much but she was only guarding her heart. Meanwhile Dominic was trying to please everybody!!!!
This wrapped up nicely. I definitely need to check out the other books in the series.
Thank you Netgalley & Harlequin for the ARC

Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for the ARC!
Admittedly, I am not a huge sports romance reader but..... I saw this was tennis and after Challengers, I'm game! This is a part of a larger series as Teagan is the last of "the Gems" to get her HEA, but you don't need to have read the others to get the dynamics. The friend group is awesome when they appear to help Teagan with moral support, and call their girl on her BS when needed, as great friends should do. Teagan was injured and sidelined from the tennis world when she was young, and at the same time, her beau and first love Dominic went on to become one of the greats. They split up (this is all part of the plot so I don't want to spoil too much) and are reunited reluctantly at first as Teagan is now a real estate broker and Dominic is back in town resting after the major tennis tournaments. They get roped into playing for a tennis charity tournament at the local country club, and try as they might, they cannot resist each other. There is a lot of miscommunication, but it all makes sense, so be patient with it! This whole thing is real and makes sense and let's just say... Teagan has a really tough relationship with her dad... it just takes her a while to figure it all out and let love in, but she does. I definitely would go back to this series as I loved the writing and friend group and this was a quick read.

Teagan hasn’t seen her ex, pro tennis player Dominic, since an injury forced her to give up her own career ten years ago. When they reunite at a charity tournament, their chemistry rekindles both on and off the court.
Teagan and Dominic are both likeable characters with difficult parents. Their bad breakup left them both resentful, but they’re forced to come to terms with their own responsibility. I liked the audiobook narration.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I received an ARC from Netgalley. This is the final installment of the Six Gems which features Teagen Williams. Throughout the series Teagen has provided valuable advice to help her friends as they reach their HEA. She has a successful real estate business and is not interested in a relationship for herself, and we finally learn why. Years ago, she and her boyfriend Dominic Fletcher, were on the way to being the next Tennis stars. That was until Teagen experienced a career ending injury. Her career and her relationship went up in flames. Dominic made sacrifices to support his family, which included his single mom and three younger siblings. On the surface, he chose his career over love. While Dominic is on hiatus, he and Teagen find themselves both participating in a tennis tournament. We get the peel back the layers of what really went wrong with these two. The attraction is still evident after all of these year's and they have to admit to themselves that they were each other's first and only love. Teagen had trouble letting go of the past and I was a bit frustrated by the lack of communication between them. The interactions with the other "gems" and updates on their lives has always been a highlight in the series. Overall, this was a good read that I've given 3.5 stars.

Pros: second chance/enemies to lovers in one? Yes please!!! Teagan tried as she might not to fall back into Dominic, but she played herself. I love when they went skating, and what happened afterwards 😏 The spicy scenes were nasty…but the love between them wasn’t lost, even though it had been twelve years.
Cons: this story was dual POV, but there was only one narrator. I would’ve loved to have a male narrator as well. Idk whose parent was worse: Teagan’s father or Don’s mother. They were both horrible.
Final thoughts: I need to read the first five books to learn about all the Gems. There’s so much more I want to say, but I don’t want to give too much away.

📖 +🎧: Break Point-Six Gems #6-read as a standalone
✍🏾 Author: Yahrah St. John-new to me author
📅Publication date: 2-25-25 | Read 2-23-25
📃eBook: 288 pgs.
🗣️Narrator: LaDonna Raeh voices all the characters with standouts from Teagan and Dominic. The reading style brought the text to life, and the author and narrator worked together perfectly. The pacing and flow allowed me to get lost in the story. The narrator paused and announced new chapters and there was a table of contents which helped me follow along.

🤔 My Thoughts: I wanted this for the cover not knowing this was the last book of the series. I didn't feel like I missed anything because the focus was strictly on the main couple Teagan and Dominic. Both had family issues and suffered from a lack of communication, but they found their way back to each other after twelve years. I will definitely go back and read the series in its entirety.
Rating: 4.5/5 ✨
Spice level 4/5 🌶️open door, explicit
🙏🏾Thanks to NetGalley, Harlequin Afterglow Books, Harlequin Audio, and Yahrah St. John for this ARC and ALC! I voluntarily give my honest review, and all opinions are my own.

Loved the story on a overall basis, but I wasn't has hooked has I thought I would be.
You love tennis romance, second chance romance, give it a try. My opinion doesn't need to affect this book.

This is my first book by Yahrah St. John and I really enjoyed this second chance at love. Teagan and Dom's chemistry is clear from the beginning. this is a cute and quick read!
I did not like how many times they got back together and broke up

I loved the tennis setting and the best friend group. The main couple basically needed to have one good conversation and all of their problems would've been solved. The resolutions of their separate family dramas weren't very satisfying. They all just saw the error of their ways and got better. Teagan's mother needed to get away from her controlling husband, not just suddenly speak up and everything is great. Dominic's mom also got off way too easy.

This book is a perfect match for readers who love stories that are heartwarming, uplifting, and full of hope. It delves into themes of overcoming past heartaches and discovering new love, making it especially appealing to those who enjoy romance novels, sports fiction, and second-chance love stories. The combination of emotional depth, lighthearted moments, and a focus on personal growth will resonate with readers who crave stories that leave them feeling optimistic and inspired. Additionally, the sports element adds an exciting layer to the narrative, attracting readers who appreciate the dynamic and competitive world of athletics. Overall, this book offers a delightful and engaging reading experience for anyone who enjoys a heartwarming romance with a touch of sports and a focus on second chances.

3 ⭐️ the potential was there but it didn’t quiet reach the mark. Instead of T & Dominic sexing it out, it would have been more natural for them to eventually have the conversation prior to T hearing about it later. For her to be so hurt, and for him to love her as much as he said, tip toeing over it for so long was unrealistic.
