What a pleasant refreshing romance! I loved how Paige Toon split it into 3 distinct parts, it really allowed the story to develop into a it's own character. I truly enjoyed this book so much, can't wait to have all of my friends read it.
Big thanks to penguin group and to netgalley for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review!

I love Paige Toon. She writes unique characters and storylines and this was no exception. I flew through this one, loved Ash and Ellie and the combo of second chance, travel, and modern Bridgerton vibes. This one was less emotional than her others and didn’t make me ball my eyes out but Paige Toon certainly took me on an emotional journey.

What if I Never Get Over You
This story has my heart. Paige Toon is an auto-buy author for me. Her emotional love stories never disappoint. The setting, the connections, the longing...all of it...perfection. Each novel gets better and better. “What if I Never Get Over You” is a must read.

I was initially drawn to this book because of its title, as I love the Lady A song with the same name and figured maybe it was inspired by said song. Honestly, it’s a top tier song but not a top tier book. I had a hard time connecting with this book and these characters. They felt like caricatures of people instead of main characters we get to know and understand and love. I also felt a lot of the dialogue was unnatural and/or cheesy.

Wow! This book was beautifully written and made me experience so many emotions. It had a bit of a slow start initially but still managed to keep me interested. And once part two hit…there was no stopping me! I do wish the ending wasn’t quite as quick because I wasn’t ready for the book to end.
There was so much depth to Ellie and Ash. While it wasn’t a spicy romance, there were certainly sexy moments (especially with some of the things Ash said) that made me feel flushed. Paige Toon captured so many emotions and did a wonderful job with various themes. You can just feel the love, passion, angst, pain, etc of both main characters.

Big thanks to Penguin Group Putnam, Paige Toon and NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC.
One of the best romance books I've read this year! My first by Paige Toon and certainly not my last. I loved the emotional depth of the characters, their connection. The author's writing style kept me turning the pages, finished in 2 days. Can't wait to read more by Paige Toon.

“What If I Never Get Over You” follows Ellie and Ash who meet in Portugal. They spend 3 days together in Lisbon exploring new places and getting to know each other. Their attraction to one another is instant. They decide to meet in Spain, but things don’t go according to plan. Unexpectedly they encounter each other 6 years later.
I thought Ellie and Ash were cute! I wasn’t fully invested in their relationship but i could tell they cared about each other. I liked that Ash remembered small details of things Ellie loved and showed it through his actions. Also, I LOVE that Ash listens to audiobooks😌!!
I would have loved to learn more about Ellie’s friend Stella especially since she’s brought up multiple times and is someone she cares about.
The ending felt a bit rushed but I still enjoyed it overall!
Please check trigger warnings.
Thank you NetGalley and G.P Putnam’s Sons for the arc!

I loved this book — second chance romances are always difficult to capture but I think the author did an excellent job conveying those feelings of longing and a sense of belonging among the two main characters. I very much enjoyed and appreciated the missed connection aspect to this book as well. Overall, a very cute love story I couldn't put down.

The tale of Ellie and Ash will tear your heart apart and then put it back together. It tells the tale of first loves, best friends, self-discovery, pursuing your passions, and letting go of other people's expectations. Additionally, Paige's writing transports me to places I never even knew existed, giving me the impression that I've been on vacation. This book simply kept me reading and wanting more, and Paige is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. Although I was happy with the conclusion, I was also disappointed that it was over.

Very sweet if predictable story. Well thought out and described characters, settings, relationships. I wanted to look up so many things while reading so I could "be there" with the characters. This was a very sweet romance...not too much sexiness if you catch my drift. My sweet little old lady patrons will eat it up!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this book. This is the first book I have read of Paige Toon's. This book was an easy read, one I didn't want to put down. Although not familiar with her style, this seemed to almost mirror the style of Danielle Steele. I was not surprised at the plot twists. You always knew Ellie and Ash would end up together. Having said that, I do intend to check out more of this author's books.

Oh my goodness. Meeting your person and spending 3 days with them before you have to leave. Planning a meet up with them that falls through. Finding them again 6 years down the road at the most unexpected place. Gah. This book. I loved it so much. Ash and Ellie have my heart!
A huge thank you to the publisher for the advanced copy. All opinions expressed above are my own.

Paige Toon is becoming one of my most anticipated reads with each new announced release. I adored Seven Summers, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on What if I Never Get Over You.
This is the story of Ellie and Ash who meet in Portugal while interrailing. Their connection and chemistry is instant. The type of insta-love I really can tolerate. Paige is that good at it. But when they agree to meet again and circumstance prevents that, it takes 6 years for them to find each other again.
Paige Toon is a master at giving her characters life and they feel as though they just jump from the page. Not to mention all the beautiful scenery in this particular story. I am already anxiously anticipating her next release!

Thank you NetGalley and P.G. Putnam for an advanced readers copy of What If I Never Get Over You in exchange for an honest review.
What if I never get over this book? Because I don't think I ever will, it's staying in my heart forever. I've said it before, but Paige Toon has quickly turned into a "if they write it, I'm gonna read it" author for me. Only Love Can Hurt Like This and Seven Summers were both fantastic books in my eyes, and this one definitely followed suit.
As a reader who hasn't been able to do much travel, it's so rewarding to get to live vicariously through the characters like Ellie and Ash. Their time interrailing felt like an old friend reminiscing on their adventures over a cup of coffee.
Though misconnections get in the way of love, it seems fate had other plans in store to continuously bring Ellie and Ash back together. This book felt warm, it felt like home. It was honestly just the perfect romance.

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me engaged and it only took a few days to read. I think this is going to be a good book club option for several clubs. I plan recommending to my book friends and I look forward to reading more by this author.

@paigetoonauthor has quickly become one my 'must read' authors! Her books are full of heart What If Never Get Over You "There days to fall in love Six years to try to forget Ellie & Ash meet in Lisbon & instantly have a connection. They have a 3-day whirlwind romance loved how Ash wasn't afraid to show some vulnerability. Although, Ellie's character was frustrating, at times. There was a bit of a lull in the middle of the book, But the ending picked back up for a solid read!

What If I Never Get Over You by Paige Toon is an emotional rollercoaster that blends missed connections and heartfelt longing, with a satisfying happily-ever-after. Ellie and Ash, both in their early 20s when they meet, form a deep bond while traveling across Europe. But when Ash fails to show up in Madrid as promised, Ellie’s world turns upside down, pushing her into a life she never envisioned.
Years later, they unexpectedly reunite at an estate where Ellie is working as a gardener, only to face new obstacles—Ash’s complicated social standing and lingering feelings from their painful separation. Toon deftly navigates the characters’ insecurities and emotional scars, making their journey both relatable and heart-wrenching. The chemistry between Ellie and Ash is palpable from the beginning, with a love story that feels both grand and grounded.
The comparison to One Day meets Bridgerton is fitting. While less tragic than One Day, What If I Never Get Over You shares its themes of missed opportunities and second chances, with the added backdrop of high society and romance.
This book is perfect for readers who enjoy slow-burn romance with depth, complex characters, and a love story that endures through trials.
This was my first Toon book, but it will not be my last.

In What if I Never Get Over You, Paige Toon delivers an enchanting love story that blends the passion of One Day with the drama of a contemporary Bridgerton. After an unforgettable three-day romance in Lisbon with Ash, Ellie finds herself heartbroken when he fails to show up for their planned reunion in Spain. Fast forward six years, and Ellie has settled into her dream job as a gardener on a historic estate in Wales, only to have her past rekindle when Ash unexpectedly reenters her life, forcing her to confront buried emotions and the truth behind his absence.
Toon's sharp writing and vivid characterizations immerse readers in Ellie’s journey of self-discovery and second chances, exploring themes of love, loss, and the impact of timing in relationships. As long-buried feelings resurface amidst the lush backdrop of the estate, Ellie must grapple with whether to revisit a past love that could ignite her heart once more or protect herself from another heartbreak. This captivating read is perfect for anyone seeking an escapist romance that reminds us that love can be both sweet and complicated.

Thank you to Penguin Group Putnam and NetGalley for the advanced E-ARC of this title.
This is an epic love story complicated by time, expectations, and social class.
Ellie and Ash find themselves drawn together as they are traveling through Europe individually. Both are searching for connection while grieving the memory of best friends they have lost. Instant chemistry turns into a whirlwind romance. Future plans fall apart when Ash ghosts Ellie, leaving her with nothing but distant memories and questions. What happened between them? And what happened to him? The few days they spent together will change the course of their lives forever.
Years later, they find themselves pulled together by fate. They find themselves on opposite sides of the same world. Their love becomes forbidden, and realization sinks in that love isn't always enough.
This story is full of angst and longing set against a beautiful landscape of beautiful gardens, historical buildings, and the night stars. Paige Toon is the queen of subtlety imbedding her characters into your soul. I found myself holding my breath hoping that the next sentence wasn't going to be the one to crush me.
Paige Toon never fails to deliver a sweeping love story complicated by the facets of life. In many ways, both characters are right where they left each other all those years ago. Waiting for a moment in time, an unanswered wish, and another chance.

Solid 3.5 stars.
This one is for all the hopeless romantics out there! Sadly, I am not really one of them so I found myself rolling my eyes and feeling annoyed quite a bit. I read this book as fast as I could because I was in for the ride, but also felt tortured for much of it. However, there were large chunks of this story that I adored, including most of Part 1. If the pages and pages of endless emotional conversation and ridiculous back and forth were whittled down, this book could have been close to a 5-star. But as it is, it’s 3.5 for me.
I’ve had an eye on Paige Toon for awhile and having finally read one of her books, I can see why she’s hyped. I’ll probably try another of her books eventually.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC!
