This wasn't quite what I was expecting from this book, and I was a little disappointed. I really appreciated all of the diversity of this book, and I think that it's really important for kids to see a variety of cultures int he books that they read. They might be able to relate to things from this book, or it might help teach them about the cultures of the people around them. Either way, books that have as much diversity as this one are very important.
So, then, why was I disappointed?
See the words "World Tour" within this book's title made me think of music. I expected this to be full of music/pop culture references, and a lot of nods to fashion as well. However, that's not what this book was at all. This book was about a cultural festival that is centered around glamour/art/beauty. This was a little bit of a downer for me because I am very passionate about music, and I adore reading books about it.
Was this book still great? Yes. To close, I want to make sure to note one thing. I would highly recommend this book for very early readers. This is due to the simplistic words and writing style, and I believe that it's important to introduce kids to diverse books/atmospheres as early as possible.
Overall, though, great book!
the illustrations in this are sooooooo beautiful!! the people. the backgrounds. the small details! THEY ALL pop off the pages so big! I also really loved how they gave definitions of things! They really tried to be inviting without losing the littler audience! The way this will go crazy as a dancing singing story time is so exciting to me! I love it.
A great, easy to read.book that celebrates diversity and the fact that everyone is different but they all come together.
Told very simply with vibrant and eyecatching illustrations.
I love how diverse and inclusive this book was! The illustrations were so pretty and colorful as well. I will be adding this one on the list of books to buy my son.
I absolutely adore this book! While I haven’t had the chance to read it with my kids yet, I’m already in love with the way it celebrates inclusivity and represents so many diverse cultures. The thoughtful inclusion of definitions throughout is perfect for helping children grasp unfamiliar terms. And the art style? Simply adorable! I can't wait to pick up a copy once it’s officially released.
Huge thanks to NetGalley!
My four kids and I so enjoyed this book before bed time tonight! It was darling. Just so fun, and catchy and adorable. My kids loved the pictures and asked to read it twice. Highly recommend.
A stunning book about inclusivity and accepting everyone, done beautifully in spoken word.
* Also, how does one get a chance to attend The Glam World Tour? Seems like a vibe I wanna be a part of!
Thank you NetGalley and Capstone Editions for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
A gorgeous book about embracing our styles and appreciating everyone's differences. Upbeat, fun and colourful!
