Now that I was familiar with the characters and places (this is a sequel and it pick up right where the first book left us) I was able to enjoy the story so much more.

I liked the way the new characters and places were introduced, and while the book was still a bit confusing at times, it was way easier to keep track of everything and to see how the author developed the world and the magic system.

All in all, a satisfying sequel that answered many of my question and that really moved the plot along (I hate when I read a volume where things barely happen so we are left close to where the story begun).

Personally, while I found both books to be confusing at times which made the reading a bit harder, I found the story compelling enough to want to read the next volumes and find out what gonna happen next.

This was a good fantasy book! It was a great start to the new series. The magic system was great and I feel like I was there in the world.

This was a strong sequel in the Daughter of Lazarus series, it uses what I enjoyed from the first book and glad it was everything that I was looking for. The overall feel continued in this book and enjoyed the way the characters were everything that I wanted. Juniper Arden has a strong writing style and was engaged with what was happening in future books.
