I did not like the narration of this story. Normally I love a romcom audio book but this was not it. The story itself wasn’t very engaging and the choice of narrator didn’t help. She didn’t have a ton of infliction in her voice which made it hard to be invoked in the story.
The actual plot of the story was good. The first half had me dying of second hand embarrassment but once I got past that I really enjoyed to jokes.
Rach's life is a hot mess, and she is really lacking in self-esteem, and potentially brain cells. She's not stupid, exactly, but she's really slow to pick up on cues of what is going on around her. This added drama to the book, and since it was well done and she always figured it out in the end, I give it a pass. However, some of the scenes with her ex-boyfriend did make me want to throw the book in frustration.
Rach meets Pres by accident, becomes his assistant without realizing it, and then flashes her boobs on national TV when she doesn't realize he is home doing a live interview. Naturally, they have to start a fake relationship because how else do you explain this? Pres is grumpy, misunderstood, and scary, while Rach is bubbly, friendly, and positive. Their relationship is adorable and I love how it all came together.
This was a fun rom com read and I highly recommend it! Thank you for the ARC.
What a fun listening experience! Honestly I’m Totally Faking It had been on my TBR forever so I was thrilled to receive an ALC. The narrator did a great job bringing quirky Rach to life. There were so many laugh out loud, swoony moments.
I loved the back and forth between the main characters. The grumpiest of grumps with the most sunshine girl, a match made in heaven.
I really enjoyed the character differences between the FMC and the MMC. They were kike exact opposites in both personality and background. Listening to these two come together was just so delightful. To see what each character brought to the relationship and how both characters developed was wonderful. The angst and the side characters provided the angsty challenges to the relationship that the plot needed. Narrated very well by Dahlia Summers
Big thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape media and Amanda Gambill for an early release copy of this audiobook. This is my honest review.
I received an ARC from Net galley!
This book wasn't the worst Rom Com I've read - but it was quite long.
You knew when she had to meet her new boss who it was going to be and what was going to happen.
But I was prepared to go there anyway.
The ending was kind of annoying. She was portrayed as a smart girl, I felt how could she be so dumb to see what was happening.
Honestly, I’m Totally Faking It was an utterly charming political-themed rom-com that I genuinely enjoyed from start to finish! Rach and Pres were fantastic characters; their dynamic and chemistry were so magnetic that I found myself drawn into their story immediately.
The book struck a perfect balance of humor and heart, featuring enough witty banter to keep me grinning like a fool the whole time. The romantic tension was palpable, and the spicy moments added the right touch of excitement—just the cherry on top!
This read was so breezy and fun that I couldn’t help but laugh out loud—always a good sign!
If you’re anything like me, and love a breezy, fun story, that revolves around a fake dating scenario, this book’ll be a must-read.
STAWP! I couldn't get over this book! It was such a cute romcom read. The banter between them is sharp and engaging, and I loved watching Rach balance her desire to be authentic with the pressures of newfound fame along the way. The story beautifully explores themes of self-acceptance and love in a hilarious, heartwarming way. Press and Rach balance each other so well! I hope we get more!
I received an Advanced Reading Copy of this book on audio.
Rach and Pres deliver a fantastic grumpy/sunshine and fake dating rom-com! Absolutely loved this audiobook.
She needs to keep her job and he needs to be able to get the new job he wants. What starts out as a simple grumpy/sunshine story, morphs into faking dating and adorable admiration for this couple. Amanda Gambill did a phenomenal job with the chemistry that builds between these characters.
10/10 wish I could read it for the first time again.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was amazing! The storyline was cute but the plot ended up being so much more than I expected. I loved it! Highly recommend this one!
As far as the book goes, 3.5⭐️
As far as the audiobook goes, 5⭐️
This was such a cute book and a super well done audiobook!! I am very picky when it comes to narrators but this one was so so great. She got the emotion and tone down perfectly. It’s so hard to voice different characters without making them a little cringey or stereotypical but she was great- I didn’t think a single one of her voices was off at all and it was easy to differentiate who was who.
For the book itself, I loved it but I do wish it was dual POV, especially with how clerical, literal, and seemingly emotionless the MMC was (he was a character with a lot of depth but I just wish we would have heard his POV to see his thoughts-to-words pipeline.)
The FMC was a little quirky which can be a big hit or miss for me but it definitely worked with her. I don’t *love* when they use kiddie curse words instead of the actual word in attempt to be funny, but it was only a couple times and was easily overlooked.
Overall, the political assistant/fake-dating/grumpy-sunshine/misunderstanding/pining vibes worked for me!!
I LOVED this book when I read it last summer and was so excited to see it was being released in audio. I don’t know why more people aren’t talking about this book! It is so funny and the characters are so relatable - you can’t help but fall in love with them!!
I loved the audio!! Dahlia took these characters that I loved and truly brought them to life! I loved how sweet Pres was under his brooding (and overly practical) exterior and how optimistic and strong Rach was.
The writing is so good! The banter between Rach and Pres and his team is hilarious - I was laughing out loud so many times. While Rach and Pres came from very different backgrounds they have more in common than you might expect. The story was also surprisingly very sweet with some delicious spice tossed in the mix - I loved their chemistry!!
Do yourself a favor and read this book!

Thank you to netgalley and the author for sending me the book in exchange for an honest review
Just finished this audiobook and it was EVERYTHING. HITFI is my favourite book (I know, big call, but I stand by it) and to hear Pres and Rach’s love story narrated so wonderfully made me so happy! I laughed, sobbed, swooned. The best! If you haven’t read this book yet, you really need to. It’s brilliant! Third time reading this book, but not the last!
Loved loved loved!!! Absolutely love a good “grumpy meets sunshine” and “fake dating but falls in love” story line! Thank you so much for the opportunity to listen to this in exchange for an honest review! If you enjoy Portia McIntosh you would enjoy this. As well.
****full length review to come***
I FINALLY got a chance to read (listen) to this raved about indie romance from Amanda Gambill and it definitely lives up to all the hype!! I'm so glad it's available on audio now because the narrator did a fantastic job. If you enjoy funny, steamy, fake dating, political romcoms you don't want to miss falling in love with Rach and Pres!! Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review!
Honestly, I’m Totally Faking It is an excellent romcom that blends lighthearted and funny with more complex elements of politics and complicated family situations. And, amidst all this fantastic content was an incredibly sexy romance.
I was happily surprised by this story, and couldn’t put it down. I definitely recommend this romcom.
Also, I loved the thread about the FMC’s mother, and how she tried multiple MLMs to try to get ahead in life.
I listened to the audiobook version of this book which was incredibly well done. I listened at 1.75x then decreased to 1.5x speed to ensure I didn’t speed through (my normal audiobook listening speed is 1.75-2x speed).
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this advanced audiobook copy.
I enjoyed the read. I felt the characters were enjoyable and good writing. But there was nothing that really stood out. Just your typical romance
4.25 stars
Ok I really enjoyed this one! The narrator was seriously incredible and had me hooked!
I’m not going to lie Rach was a little annoying at first and she had like the worst luck ever that I felt so bad for her, but I slowly warmed up to her quirky always sunny demeanour. Especially when Pres entered the scene. I loved how they meet and then the second time haha omg! His grumpy to her sunshine was a perfect balance. They worked so perfectly together! I loved the whole fake dating and how they slowly started falling for one another. They had such great chemistry!
I loved the whole story line and how everything happens! It’s a fun read and I pretty much read it in one sitting, it was so good!
4.5 stars
Rach has the worst luck and was so much fun to follow! Pres was such a good character and while he was Rach's total opposite they worked so well together.
Pres & Rach were both such relatable characters, even though their circumstances weren't!
Normally politically based books don't catch my attention or work for me but this one did & I think that's because of how Amanda wove it in.
The third act break up was obvious from a mile away, but it actually didn't overly take away from the story!
Thanks to NetGalley & Dreamscape Media for an advance audio copy!
