This book offers a lot of advice, along with simple but hilarious drawings. Is the advice good? It's definitely funny, and it's also perceptive as to what kinds of things kids think about. This would be a fantastic book for kids getting comfortable with reading. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
Sam is a hot little mess as she offer suggestions, tips, and tricks to surviving school including how to navigate the playground and the cafeteria, while explaining how to build an army of cats. Very humorous, with a journal-style format, this book will remind readers of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid," but I feel it is written on a little lower of a reading level. Kids who want to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid but are not quite ready for it yet will like this title. I think this will also appeal to kids who like Junie B. Jones and The Bad Guys series.
Sam's Supersecret Survival Guide is a goofy diary about how to survive elementary school. While a nice vibe, it does read a little bit like two adults joking about what would be in a kid's diary, and the tips aren't largely actually applicable to most home situations. That being said, it is a good pick for anyone looking for a lighthearted, entertaining adventure at school.
