What a beautiful combination of poetry and pictures. The illustrations blend so seamlessly as we follow the Fox through his life. This is a great introduction to Ada Limon for children.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this gorgeous picture book
This book is so beautiful, my six year old and I read it together and he loved it all!! I wish I could give you notes, but I have none.
This book's illustrations are so beautiful. I almost felt like I was meditating while reading because of the seamless flow of the book. This will be great for kids who are animal lovers.
*Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!*
This was a really lovely artistic rendition of one of Ada Limón’s poems. I think it would be a fun way to visually introduce poetry to a younger audience, who could use visual cues to help develop a sense of imagery in the poem, Though the imagery in the poem itself is already very well done. I’ve been needing to read more of Limón’s work since I attended a reading of hers for a school event,
This book was first a poem. And while I usually love illustrated poetry for children, this seems confusing. We start with a fox in the field with the meadow and then the interact in a city and how they live, but fox don’t care if humans are there is watching. It’s odd and I’m not sure how well kids will enjoy it.
I absolutely love Ada Limón's poetry and I was so excited to see that one of her poems was turned into a children's book! This poem about the fox (From The Hurting Kind) works so well in this form as a children's book. I think this is a great way to introduce poetry to children early on. Learning about poetry young, especially when it's about something lovable like animals, can really help to foster the love for literature and poetry later on in life.
The illustrations are beautiful in this as well. I'd recommend this to all children and those young at heart.
Thanks to NetGalley and Carolrhoda Books for a copy of this ARC.
This is stunning! The artwork, the poetry, the rhythm - it's all magic. It's clever and fun while still being a bit mysterious. I love poetry coming to life with artwork, and that's what these pages feel like - frame worthy art. A great way to weave poetry into a child's day.
I loved how beautiful and poetic this book was, both in terms of writing and imagery. This book would actually be the absolute perfect bedtime story because of how serene the writing is, but it could also be read anytime because of how excellent it is. The writing was enough to let the reader in on the fox's life, but left some things out so that the reader could imagine some of their own conclusions/ideas/etc. As for the illustrations: they all connected very deeply to nature and how free it is. The illustrator conveyed this through different styles of "brushstrokes" and very intricate color combinations. In short, I loved reading this book and I know others will as well.
Thanks to netgalley and publisher for this adorable arc! I loveee foxes so this was a cute quick read. Very colorful illustrations as well. A nice easy to read poem too from a US poet laureate!
Join Fox for a day in his life! Lifelike illustrations, accompanied by lively text, show characteristics of this often-misunderstood mammal.
I absolutely adored this little book! The poem is precious (also love that it’s non-rhyming, as most children's books rhyme), and the illustrations are stunning. I’ve been looking for more books to read to my young nephew and this one is definitely being added to the list!
This is a stunningly illustrated poem about a fox.
Kids will enjoy the lyrical poem and the fun drawings.
It does make me think about how I have seen reports of foxes trying to domesticate themselves by approaching humans and trying to act like cats and dogs to get the same benefits of care.
Thank you to Net Galley and Lerner Publishing Group for the eARC!

Beautifully illustrated and written well, too. I would love to read more of Limón's work someday.
Lovely, lovely, lovely. The story has a very Zen-like feel in its celebration of the joy of living simply.
Gorgeous art and a lovely message. I got chills at the end.
This book is absolutely gorgeous!
The poem is a beautiful exploration of the life of a fox and the illustrations truly bring it to life for children. The book is elegant and beautiful with vivid, colorful illations that feel true to life without being too visually stimulating for young readers.
This would pair beautifully with a science unit focused on foxes, what a fantastic way to introduce poetry to children!
Thank you to Ada Limón, Lerner Publishing Group, Carolrhoda Books ®, and Netgalley for this free advanced reader copy of "And, Too, the Fox" for an honest review. I've developed a mad adoration for Limón since discovering her work with the posting of the current US Poet Laureate. I have loved reading all of her poetry and speeches and newly discovered children's books through Netgalley. Like the last (the poem for the Europa capsule), this is warm, soft, and sweet, and the illustrations are filled with heart.
The airworthiness is eye catching. The poems are easy to follow. Would be a good book to introduction of poetry or rhyming
Most of the children's poetry books I've read contain rhyming which can be fun, but this book has a different poetic style. It exposes children to poetry outside of rhymes, which I think is nice. The book is both fun and calming to read because of this.
The artwork is absolutely beautiful. I think the soft colors make for a perfect fall read. The poetry is short and sweet, so kids can take the time to appreciate the art as well. It gets them to think about a fox's life and could be especially good for kids who are interested in art and animals.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book.
The illustrations are beautiful. The poem is short. I read this to my 10 year old daughter and she said she enjoyed he poem and she thought “it was about the fox’s daily life and how he is unconcerned with what’s going on outside of his own lane”
I have mixed feelings about this one, but I decided on 4 stars because of the refreshingly realistic lens of nature through the foxes perspective. The illustrations pair beautifully with the verse, resembling pages in a coloring book. Overall, it was thought-provoking and unique.
