I was initially very interested in this book because I highly value balance in my meals over restrictive dieting. However, the recipes themselves are very vague in their instructions. The Mug Frittata instructs the reader to oil a mug, then mix the ingredients in a cereal bowl, then bake. Am I supposed to bake it in the cereal bowl? When do I move the ingredients to the mug? Another recipe tells the reader to "cook or steam the broccoli." No time given, no level of doneness given, no instructions on method. Any reader who is not already very comfortable in the kitchen and is seeking more instruction would be lost in this book. All the recipes read like they've been written in Instagram or Tiktok captions rather than in a full-length cookbook, which makes sense, given the author's Instagram background. I cannot recommend this book to anyone but experienced cooks who already know the techniques mentioned but never explained by the author.

I’ve been newly diagnosed with diabetes and I’m always looking for cookbooks that will have recipes that will help me maintain a lower blood sugar, so this piqued my interest. I was also drawn in by the beautiful cover.

This book features 100 recipes. Each recipe has step by step instructions and nothing seemed too difficult. Each recipe has nutritional info so you know exactly what you’re getting.
My biggest complaint is that I’m a visual person and would have preferred more photos. Only about 1/3 of the recipes had pictures.

There were also errors in a handful of the recipes. Hopefully those will be fixed in the final product. For example, many of the recipes said, “store well,” instead of, “stir well.” One recipe started with a mug, said to put aside, and then continued the recipe with a bowl. One of the smoothie recipes said to add nut butter if using full fat cottage cheese, when the others said to remove the nut butter. A bit confusing if it’s not edited.

Overall, it’s a decent cookbook for someone who wants to control their blood sugar, but not cut everything out of their diet. My favorite chapter/section was the power bowls, and I will utilize those the most. I also like that meal plan ideas are provided. It definitely helps stay organized with meal prep.

This book was written by the founder of the Peachy Spoon, a coaching business and recipe blog, so I’m curious about other recipes and will be diving into that soon.

Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley. I voluntarily read an early copy of this cookbook.

I picked up this book because I wanted to find recipes for higher protein, lower sugar snacks and foods for my family. I'm happy to report that this book is a hit! The layout is easy to use and read, and don't we all love color pictures? Though I don't use it, many readers will appreciate the nutritional information provided for each recipe, as well as some helpful ingredient substitutions. The Flourless Protein Brownies on page 173 were gone in a day at my house so I'd call that a win!

A gorgeous cover and book.

I'm sure this book is helpful to some people, but not for me. I can not eat soy or dairy or a lot of the recipes ingredients. My Crohn's is picky like that.

The recipes sound lovely and I am sure the information will help people.

As someone with PCOS, balancing blood sugar is a large part of my treatment plan. I have been looking for some food ideas that would work for this new dietary treatment plan and this cookbook gave me new information as well as recipes . Thought I wish there were a lot more pictures of the “completed “ food in the recipes, there are good meal ideas included. She also took time to list out macros per serving and offer meal plan suggestions.

I have been hypoglycemic since 2014, and my life since then has been all about balancing my blood sugar. I loooove this cookbook, not only for the fabulous and understandable, easy-to-make recipes, but also for the excellent information that the author gives at the beginning of the book. I have this saved in my "to purchase" file for October 8!

Thanks to Netgalley, the author, and publisher, for an advanced reading copy in exchange for my honest review.

I particularly like how this cookbook is more than just a cookbook, it has education on blood sugar balance and macronutrients filled in too! I liked the illustration showing you a balanced plate. My main motivator to want to read this cookbook is because I had a grandfather who had diabetes and I remember as a child not understanding what all it entails, but this cookbook isn't solely for people with diabetes, I found some really great looking recipes for myself, and if I'm being honest could be way better with what I eat. Though I personally prefer a cookbook that has an image of every recipe, this one does not, but it has so many recipes I see why the opted to not have a photo for every single one. There are even options for flavor substitutes and dairy free option, which is great.

I really like this cookbook! It had a ton of information on blood sugar and the science behind how our body regulates sugars. It was nice to read about it all with recipes in here! I liked it a lot! The recipes were a mix of everyday type recipes and also some more special occasion types. I love how it still had sweet options too so it’s not like you have to cut everything out,

Thank you for the ARC NetGalley, authors, publishers!!!

I think that this is a great book for anyone who wants to focus on eating a little healthier or for someone who specifically wants to eat to balance their blood sugar.

The book starts out with an intro, some information on blood sugar balance and what that even means. This part is full of useful and great information and an important part of the book. After reading through that it moves into the recipes.

I feel like the recipes are laid out nicely. They displayed nicely on the page and easy to follow along to while cooking. Not ever recipe has an image but many of them do & the images are really beautiful. Some of the recipes have flavor swaps as well which is a nice addition to the recipe. One more thing that many cookbooks do not include that I loved is the nutrition information. I really like that they added this to the recipes. I felt like the ingredients are pretty common ingredients and things that I would actually use in my kitchen which is nice. There is a great variety of recipes and the one I have tried already are really good!

I have been looking for more recipes that are better for blood sugar. I found this book to be helpful. It was very informative and provided a lot of background information on blood sugar and how to control it. The recipes in the book are delicious and I could definitely see myself making these on a regular basis. Not only do I have many new recipes to make, but I have a better understanding of blood sugar and how to make healthy lifestyle and diet changes. I would recommend this book.

I learned a lot from this book, as well as saved a bunch of balanced recipes to try!

My one critique is that I am a very visually-forward person, so I wish there were more images of the recipes. The recipes that did include images were styled beautifully!

I received an ARC of this cookbook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a wonderful cookbook full of delicious looking recipes. But it's more than just a cookbook. It also has a lot of helpful advice on how to balance your blood sugar without having to be obsessive about what you eat!
