One of four launch titles for this series of very early chapter books, that seems to aim to show the diversity of the world's Jewish community and the kindness of the children involved. Here, the step-siblings of the title find a neighbour stuck, unable to fulfil their usual commitment of knocking up a meal for the local seniors centre. Of course the kids jump in, even if they have no idea what to make, and of course there are no health and safety checks en route to them becoming the heroes of the day… but how?

This was alright, but there was little in the way of surprise, shock or attack to the plot – it went from A to B and ended, without anything really great narratively. And I would say for a series promoting Jewish awareness, the language of the older characters was just stereotyped and stuffed full of cliched Jewishness. It certainly came on the page all of a sudden, and while it introduces some of the vocab in an easy way, it raised eyebrows while at it. I'd hope for stronger tales and less broad and hokey Jewishness from the other titles.

This book is really great to help foster creativity and kindness in young readers. This is conveyed by Golda and Ezra's actions of thinking up a dinner to serve to senior citizens. Based on how this book is written, I think the heartwarming behaviors of the two main characters will likely catch on with this book's readers. I strongly believe that this book will inspire kids to seek out cooking and volunteering opportunities in their our lives, which is awesome!
The author made a really clever decision: including thought-provoking activities/questions at the back of the book. This further allows readers to be just like Golda and Ezra, and it helps this book have an impact long after kids read the final page. All of the questions and activities are perfectly age-appropriate and highly effective.
Lastly, I loved the illustrations! They were colorful, crisp, bubbly, and energetic. These elements fit perfectly with the story, and they are appealing to younger readers.
Bravo!

I thought that this book was really good and a delight to read!

I thought that the story was well written and it was easy to follow. I loved the focus on working together and overcoming an obstacle to succeed. It was a positive story.

The illustrations were lovely and they worked really well with the story to bring it all together. It was well written and easy to follow and laid out really well. I really liked the addition of Jewish facts and hints on how to pronounce some of the key words at the end too - a really lovely treat and I learnt something as an adult too!

The text was nice and clear and not clouded by the illustrations - I am looking forward to seeing other books in the series!

It is 5 stars from me for this one - highly recommended!

A great little book that helps introduce younger children to the Jewish Culture, and some of their sayings/words.
The story is about 2 children who want to help out their neighbour and cook a meal for a centre.
Way to understand and great illustrations

In Golda and Ezra's Dinner Dilemma, Golda and Ezra are solving problems and helping their neighbors in this tale of teamwork and community spirit. The story, centering the Jewish culture, is heartwarming and full of clever problem-solving, showing how small acts of kindness can make a big difference. With vibrant illustrations, this is a great read for young readers who love adventure and helping others.

I read this to my toddlers at bedtime and my 8 year old helped read it to them. They loved it and it was easy for him to read at a veggie chapter book reader
