Jade and her pet dinosaur (who pretends to be an iguana) like playing hide and seek. But Jade gets worried when her friend’s pets go missing. Is Indigo to blame?
We’ve read this story several times to my six and three year olds. They liked guessing what happened to the missing pets and playing hide and seek with Indigo.
“I liked that he was trying to help his friends. Here’s a thought, I think Jade should have a cage for Indigo so he doesn’t get lost. The drawings were perfection.” - My six-year-old
We are definitely interested in reading more stories in this series. Very cute and entertaining.
This adorable little picture book is hilarious and sneaks some science in -- two of my favorite things. Jade hatches a lizard egg as part of a class project, but surprise! she has a baby dinosaur instead of a lizard. She knows she has to hide her dinosaur, but is her new pet responsible for the missing pets? Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this.
A very cute and fun book about a girl with a pet dinosaur, although she has to hide the fact he is a lizard!
Fun story, and very cute illustrations - will definitely appeal to younger readers
This is a cute book about a little girl with a pet dinosaur. She has to hide that he's a dinosaur because-- obviously, her parents wouldn't be happy to have a pet dino walking around! Little dino lovers would love it and parents won't mind reading this one.
This was such a fun and fast read! The illustrations were adorable and I enjoy this type of art style. The story was entertaining from the beginning to end. I found it interesting that the little girl is passing her pet dinosaur as an iguana.
I definitely see kids loving this story especially for bed time. Both boys and girls can enjoy this and love it.
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this e-ARC.
This is such a cute book! My son loves for me to read books to him but he also loves looking through the pictures so I will definitely be adding this one to the list to buy for him!!
Natasha Deen did a wonderful job on this book! I read this book with my kids! We all enjoyed the characters, and story line! Jades character was so cute! Definitely a book to be on the bookshelves of Teachers in elementary! Great quick read! My kids were sad when the book ended! Well done!
This is a very cute, beginner level chapter book. There isnt a huge amount of words, but the set up of the book is great to ease young readers into chapter books. The images are cute and also assist with easing into this type of book. The facts at the end as well as the questions to talk and write about are also a wonderful addition.
This book would be excellent for young readers! It's the perfect length for readers who are new to chapter books and I especially loved that it had a glossary for more challenging words. I also loved the illustrations that go along with the book. As a mother with young children, I know the storyline would hold their attention. I would recommend this book to families with early readers.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC!
Darling illustrations accompany this story of an unlikely new pet! Children will learn facts about dinosaurs along the way. Discussion questions and writing prompts are included.
This is a good book for early readers interested in fantasy. I do think the plot lacks substance and is a little boring, even for young readers.
Adorable book and illustrations. My 8 year old loves dinosaurs and this would be a great book series for her.
The facts about T-Rex's is a bonus and the discussion and activity is great. Its fun to hear kids answers when asking them questions about the book.
Looking forward to more of these books for sure and sharing with my girls that enjoy everything dinosaurs.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book was super cute! This will be a great book for kids. The illustrations write great.
The Pets Are Missing is a fun and easy-to-follow chapter book that young readers will enjoy, especially those who love dinosaurs or dream of having their own unique pet. The illustrations beautifully capture the whimsy of the tale, adding an extra layer of magic. This is an engaging story about friendship, responsibility, and the challenges of having a not-so-ordinary pet. I can certainly see this story being a part of a set. While I like the short explanation in the beginning, I would love a story about how Jade and Indigo first met. A good pick for early readers!
Apparently billed as Book One of this series, you wouldn't know it to look at it. I certainly felt I got on board late for this party. The whole background to the story, of how Jade ended up with an egg that hatched a baby blue dinosaur, of unknown species, is just given to us in summary, allowing therefore this very young reader to stick to the tiny adventure the three short chapters make up. And in actual fact, it's probably a much smaller story than that background – a gentle read about hide and seek and doubts as to the safety of the whole owning-a-dinosaur thing. So while this is commendably concise and doesn't faff around with backstory, the main narrative is the second best one here. Still, there's nothing at all that would make me think the series would deserve any kind of dislike, so four stars.
I thought that this book was a good read and my daughter thought it was good too, she loves dinosaurs and has done from a young age so we guessed the book would be a hit with her and it was!
The book had a good story, it was well written and easy to follow. She liked the characters and getting to know them. There are other books in the series so we will be looking to check them out too!
The illustrations are great and help bring the story to life.
It is 4 stars from me for this one - highly recommended!
Such a cute little book all of my small kids loved it from my 7month old to my 4th grader! Easy bedtime ready, informative and cute!
