"Think I loved you from the moment you told me the cat had fucking AC in that van.”

“Law man, you ok?”
"Who. Did. This. To. You?”

Wow how I loved this book! Right away you are invested on the mysteries that Ridley wants to discover. I loved how Colt, the sheriff in his small town, wants nothing to do with Ridley and yet keeps getting involved with her. Their bickering is some of the best parts in this romance! I loved how Grumpy at times Colt could be. He also is such a protector and I loved that you got to see that in him. I liked how their relationship slowly evolved and how it wasn’t a quick jump into bed. The spicy scenes were a perfect blend and steam and beautiful emotions! Both Ridley and Colt have struggled in life and I loved how that was one of the ways they bonded together. Both were able to help the other through their pains. I haven’t read too many romantic suspense books that involved this kind of darker mysteries. Ridley and Colt search throughout the book for a murder and there are some scenes that have dark aspects. I really liked how Catherine Cowles was able to do a perfect job of blending that into a beautiful romance!

I Frickin LOVED this book!
From the dedication page to the very end, Catherine Cowles grabbed me and didn't let me go.
If you've read a Cowles book before, you know she is great at romantic suspense and making it difficult to guess who the bad guy is. You learn to suspect everyone. But I have to add, she is a queen at immediately drawing you in and caring for the characters right from the prologue. The prologues kill me. And All the Missing Pieces was no different. You feel for what happened and already have a connection to the FMC, wanting her to come out on top.

Ridley is a true crime podcaster that travels round in her VW van working on cold cases of missing persons. But her job is a bit more personal than most. That is what endeared me to her character and her mission. Well that, and her 3-legged cat that gave "tooth hugs". ;) When she comes to the small town of Shady Cove, she has a feeling that this case will connect her to her own past and hopefully give her answers. But with a close knit community like Shady Cove, people are hesitant to open up to a stranger about something that rocked their little town 10 years prior.

Colt is the local sheriff and he may not like the leggy, long haired blonde that has come to town asking questions, but he also can't help but want to keep her safe. But the reason she's in town is way too close to home for his liking and he will keep his own people safe from her bringing up the past.

All the Missing Pieces is probably my favorite Cowles book to date. From the true crime podcast to the heavy mystery/suspense element, this was a book that I simply could not put down. Add in the tension and banter between Ridley and Colt and this story was absolute fire. Their chemistry was palpable and you could feel it through the pages, even when they fought it. Even their nicknames they had for each other (Chaos and Law Man) dripped with tension.

"I've seen you two together exactly once and that I-hate-you-so-bad-I-want-to-tear-your-clothes-off vibe was so strong I'm pretty sure the whole bar could see it."

But it was their past trauma that connects not only them but Ridley and the whole town. And it all comes full circle in such an organic way and shows you how you must battle the darkness with light and hope. Because 'there couldn't be true happiness without grief, no pleasure without pain.'.
I just loved that the story was such a good balance of suspense, amazing supporting characters and the romance which was more heavy in the second half, allowing the suspense to take center stage.

If you love:
Small town
Meddling town folks
Grumpy/sunshine
Snarky, strong and independent FMC
Protective, alpha, yet caring MMC
Forced Proximity
Suspense
With some pretty cool animals....
Then you are not going to want to miss Ms Cowles latest small town romantic suspense.
She will keep you guessing and give you a great story in between with the best cast of characters.

Easily one of my favorite Catherine Cowles books to date! Colt and Ridley did NOT get off to a good start, but it was so fun to see how their relationship progressed after that. 😂💕 As always, the suspense plot was incredible!!! This book is such a good one for all of the true crime fans, the story is engaging and emotional. Cannot recommend enough!! Lawman, Chaos & Tater forever <33

Ridley lost her twin sister in a tragic way on the night before their college graduation. Now she investigates cold cases as a true crime podcaster with a huge following. Arriving in Shady Cove for her next series of episodes, Ridley has a new case to explore and as she gets to know the town, it becomes clear that some of her suspicions are closer to the truth than anyone would believe.

From early in this book I was falling in love with these characters. As early as the introduction I was heartbroken for Ridy’s loss, Emerson for her own experiences, and Colt for being a bystander affected by the same events. There is a rich group of characters that make up Shady Cove. I loved the way the townspeople sheltered Emerson from strangers and weren’t willing to share much with Ridley until they knew Emerson would be ok with the intrusion. And I also loved the way they welcomed her in as she showed her true intentions.

I loved Ridley’s little quirks and the way she poured herself into her investigations while also remembering her sister. She is a free spirit, but also dampened by the loss of her sister. She wants to shed light on cold cases all the while she is keeping her own story a secret from her viewers. Colt came on strong with his protective instincts, first for his town and his sister, and later for Ridley as well. He has a strong moral compass and feels guilt for the pain his sister is living with.

I spent most of the book jumping from suspicion to suspicion, constantly sifting through the clues with Ridley and watching for valuable information and red herrings alike. At times the events had me feeling giddy, which felt like an odd emotion to note while reading something with as much suspense as this was building, but I loved every detail as it was revealed. There were moments where I didn’t always agree with how Ridley handled herself, but in the interest of building a story, I loved the way all the pieces came together.

This was a fast paced story that sucked me in and didn’t let me go. It had the perfect blend of suspense, emotion, and small town antics.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Catherine Cowles is the queen of romantic suspense, and this one might be my new favorite of hers to date.
The setting and overall vibes were exactly what I was looking for and the true crime podcast aspect was done so well and brought this book to the next level.
Ridley is also especially well done as a character. I really took to her from the beginning and she’s my favorite FMC I’ve read recently.
For whatever reason, law enforcement MMCs do it for me, especially in a Catherine Cowles novel, so it’s no surprise that I loved Colt, despite how rude he was to Ridley at the beginning.
I also just want to mention that there’s a three legged cat in this that I absolutely adored.

I have read *almost* every single book CC has written and they are all 4-5 star reads for me, and let me tell you- this is the best one yet. I am absolutely obsessed with True Crime Podcaster books (Listen for the Lie, None of this is True, etc) and I was so excited when I saw this was coming out.

Ridley's sister was abducted when they were in college and ever since, Ridley has been traveling around in her van recording a true crime podcast on local cold cases. Her newest town has a sheriff who is determined to block her every move.

Ridley, and the Sheriff, Colt, were absolutely electric together. Their chemistry was wonderful, his protectiveness was top notch, and overall they were just a match made in heaven. I am hoping and praying this is not a standalone novel, because it seems like it was possibly set up for a series??

This is a must read and is included in Kindle Unlimited!

All the Missing Pieces is book one in the Shady Cove series. It follows Ridley Sawyer and Colter Brooks.

As a lover of true crime podcasts, I ate this book up in one sitting! It was such a thrilling story with twists you would not see coming.

Ridley is a true crime podcaster who investigates missing persons cases hoping to bring peace to the families. She ends up in Shady Cove covering a case that could be connected to her sister’s disappearance. She encounters Sheriff Colter Brooks, who is less than welcoming to an outsider in town. After something happens, they soon become allies and so much more.

I love Ridley with all of my heart. She is such a strong character, and her motivation to help others find closure while not yet finding her own is really inspiring. She also marches to the beat of her own drum and does not allow anyone to tell her how to live her life. Colt, on the other hand, I wanted to hate him because he kept hurting my girl Ridley with his words, but I just couldn’t. This man is a little prickly but a protector.

This book is incredibly emotional but also has its funny moments, especially with a cat named Tater with her ‘tooth hugs’. I honestly loved how their story unfolded and how they were both able to finally heal all the missing pieces.

Also, I did NOT see the twist coming near the end, and my jaw literally dropped!

You will enjoy this book if you like the following:
- Small town
- Sheriff hero
- True crime podcaster heroine
- Forced proximity
- Grumpy x sunshine
- Enemies to lovers
- Romantic suspense

Thank you so much, Catherine Cowles and Sourcebooks, for the gifted copy!

Catherine Cowles hit this book out of the park, but I would expect nothing less from her! Her writing style blends romance and suspense so perfectly where I never feel like I need more or less of either one. I especially loved how I felt like we were trying to solve the case along with them in this book maybe more than her others. We are following Ridley, a true crime podcaster, trying to solve this cold case that she believes is connected to her own sister’s disappearance.

Colt is the town sheriff and is so protective of those he loves. First, his sister Emerson (the victim in this cold case) who managed to make it home. He doesn’t like that Ridley is reopening these wounds for Emerson. Once Ridley gets threatened though, we see him be protective of her as well. These two balanced each other well and worked great as a team. I loved every minute of both the romance and solving this crime.

I’m going to admit that I was a little nervous of Ridley being a true crime podcaster, especially as we are starting to see people in real life speak out about the misuse and exploitation of these crimes for views, but I should have trusted Catherine Cowles to handle it beautifully because she did. So if you’re worried about that, don’t be, this is a good happy medium that is represented well.

Ridley is a strong role-model, she is willing to go after what she wants, and she does it knowing the risk. She knows her limits and doesn’t enter a situation blind after what happened to her sister and with her desire to help other families find what happened to someone, she makes sure she stays safe. I truly believe Ridley and Colt are twin flames, after being changed from a similar situation, they have reacted so similarly and yet so different, like two sides of the same coin and it really helps them connect once Colt gets over his biases and prejudice against true-crime podcasters.

Colt and Ridley have such good chemistry from their introduction but it really ramps up once they become roommates. They might have been able to fight their feelings, but the close proximity really forced them to deal with the desire and chemistry head on.

The suspense plot line of this book was so well thought out, I love how it all connected, but I, like always, could not predict who the main killer was. However, once I found out I could see how all the clues led up to them and why it all makes compete perfect sense.

So in conclusion, Catherine Cowles just writes really good, entertaining, romantic suspense books!

Catherine Cowles’ Sparrow Falls series was one of my favorite reads in 2024 so I jumped at the chance to kick off my 2025 reading with her new small town romantic suspense novel, All the Missing Pieces.

Ridley Sawyer has felt like a piece of her was missing ever since her twin sister disappeared just before the two of them were supposed to go off to college. The case goes cold and Ridley’s sister is presumed dead, but Ridley’s need for answers, as well as her need to process her grief in her own way, leads her to become a true crime podcaster.

Armed with little more than podcasting equipment, a three-legged cat named Tater, and her trusty VW van, Ridley travels the U.S covering cold cases, specifically those that are similar to her sister’s. If she can’t get justice for her sister, maybe she can get it for someone else.

I loved Ridley fiercely. That fire in her and the way she channeled her grief for her sister into something that could help so many people just immediately had me in her corner cheering for her. I also loved everything about the small town where the story takes place, especially Colt, the grumpy sheriff love interest, and the meddlesome townsfolk. They’re so protective and want to run anyone out of town they view as a threat, but then as soon as they realize they aren’t a threat, they practically adopt them as their own.

The chemistry between Ridley and Colt is everything, and while it was fun at first watching them get under each other’s sun, I enjoyed it all the more once Ridley’s cold case heats up, and their relationship heats up right along with it! The case itself is also well done, with enough twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end.

MY HEART!!!! Oh my gosh my heart hurts in all the best ways possible!! This hit in such a way that all the Catherine Cowles books do, yet so different at the same time. I don't even know how to describe how it made me feel (in all the best ways).

Colt and Ridley were both going through their own pain, from similar traumas, but in completely different ways. One is determined to help people find the closure and healing that they need. While the other is determined to keep all the people he loves safe. But when the protective grump meets the free spirited sunshine, the two are destined to butt heads. Will it be the shared love of the same whiskey, or something two that brings them together? And will it be enough to find the answers that Ridley wants and Colt needs.

As usual, Catherine got me, and I was so WRONG!!! I was so determined that I was right this time! and I was ready to celebrate with a victory lap! Nope... I was wrong (current score Catherine 18 Kate 1). I love how the community bonds around Ridley and makes her one of her own when they were all so divided about her in the beginning! All the characters play such important roles and I couldn't seem to walk away from any of them!

Kind of sad that this is going to be a standalone because I could go for sooo much more of everyone in Shady Cove! I Want more tatter, and bear, and Bowser! Gosh this book made me so emotional, found myself holding back tears more then I will wish to admit to. (

Catherine Cowles continues to shock me to the core with her twists and turns! My jaw was on the floor during this book and I wish I could erase it from my brain just so I could read it again for the first time! I absolutely loved the premise of this book, it’s so unique from anything I’ve read before and I could have never seen the ending coming! One of the best romantic suspense books I’ve read!

The characters in this story were just so real and relatable and their story was so honest and true. From page one it caught my heart.

I have been a huge Catherine Cowles LOVERRR for a while now but she really knocked it out of the park with this new book.

Ridley is a true crime podcaster driven by her own story but when she starts stirring up dust in his town, sheriff Colt Brooks is not here for it. When their paths continue to intertwine though, Colt finds himself unexpectedly caring for & worrying about the girl who’s more than she first appeared.

If you are a true crime podcast lover (like me) and love a lil small town romance you will NOT want to miss this killer (😉) read from Catherine!

Thank you to Catherine Cowles and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC!

All the Missing Pieces had me hooked from the very beginning! I absolutely loved this small town romantic suspense! Catherine Cowles has a flair to write addictive stories mixing romance and mystery and this one was another winner!

Ridley is a true crime podcaster trying to solve the mystery surrounding her sister's disappearance years earlier by working on different similar cases. When a new cold case lands in her hands she embarks on a new adventure to Shady Cove. Colt, the town sheriff, doesn't make her feel welcome at first, but it soon changes and they become allies and more.

Ridley is such a strong and determined heroine. She's so invested in her mission that she's fearless bordering on reckless. She also shares such an undeniable chemistry with Colt. Their banter are so entertaining with the cute nicknames and underlying attraction. Colt is intensely protective and had me melting at his desire to keep Ridley safe from harm. I truly loved this couple a lot!

All the mystery surrounding Ridley's investigation had me entirely focused. I was totaly surprised by the killer's identity. This novel was great and I hope to see more of this memorable world!

This was one of my favorites from Catherine! Not only did I love the mystery in this one, but I absolutely adored the character development of both of our main characters. Colt was such a good grouch from the start (and we know I love a grouchy man) and the way he softened as he got to know Ridley was adorable.

I also loved Ridley's motivation throughout the book. I appreciated that she was relatively self-aware of herself and didn't let people bully her into being different. And of course I always love to see the sunshine-y girl make the grouchy guy turn into mush.

Once again, my guess was wrong. Catherine, you stumped me once more and I won't forget it!

Thank you to Catherine for an early copy of this book! My opinions are my own.

If you are a romantic suspense fan this is the book for you!
It is no secret that I am a huge Catherine Cowles fan and this was another huge win! I’M OBSESSED! I was hooked from the first page. The way Catherine grips you and doesn’t let you go is so impressive. The setting, the characters, and the plot line were all so well done and hold you hostage in this story never wanting to put the book down.
As a huge fan of shows like Criminal Minds (in another life I would have studied criminology) the suspense plot in this book was one of my all-time favs from Catherine. I NEEDED to know the answers. I was constantly making guesses and was truly suspicious of everyone. When things were finally revealed I was screaming, I got it so wrong!
The romance was also incredibly well done and so balanced with the suspense. I didn’t feel like either one overtook the other. Ridley and Colter matched so well. The banter and chemistry was perfection.
The audiobook is so well done. Catherine always picks the perfect narrators for her characters.

Definitely make sure to pick this book up when it releases on January 7th!!

✨book review✨

Catherine Cowles is a master. I honestly would read the woman’s grocery list.

All The Missing Pieces
Author: @catherinecowlesauthor
Rating: 5⭐️

Well, I have read this book twice before it was even released And it was even better the second time. I obviously knew who the bad guy was the second time around but it was so much fine trying to see if there were any clues that I missed. Spoiler alert: there were no breadcrumbs.

Catherine just has a way of hooking us from the beginning. I mean, in this one, we had a sweet podcaster who is just trying to help solve a cold case. She had no idea that the grumpy sheriff would be so intertwined with the story. But every move she made seemed to make him mad.

I loved Ridley and her determination to solve this mystery. I loved how confident she was in herself and her ability to solve it. I loved how she would not let anything or anyone (ahem, Colt) in her way.

Colt was obviously protective of this case because it was his sister. But once he got off his high horse, I loved that he and Ridley worked together. The love story in this one: absolute perfection. We went from strangers to enemies to lovers and I ate it all up. I squealed when Colt offered for Ridley to come stay at his house. Forced proximity- YES PLEASE!!

Now, Catherine, I know you said this is going to be a stand alone. But what would you say about an Emerson and Trey story… please? Brother’s best friends is my jam. I’d honestly even take a novella.

Thank you, Catherine, for an ARC. And thank you @libro.fm for an ALC.

Now tell me, are you adding this to your TBR?

Catherine has done it again.

If you are a true crime podcast fan who also loves romance this is the book for you. I can always count on Catherine to deliver a book that will keep me wanting more and keep me up at all hours of the night so I can figure out what's next in the book. This book was no different, this book easily reminded me of listening to my favorite true crime podcast at one point I had a note started in my phone with my theories as to who did it. I will say this was the only time I've ever been right. All the Missing Pieces is a perfectly executed suspenseful small town mystery romance, Catherine is known for her twists and turns and while I did guess the twist this time, I still was in awe- the pieces to the puzzle were there all along and a few times I was thinking to myself no it couldn't be that person, or could it? I love books that keep you on the edge of your seat throughout and this felt like I was alongside both Ridley and Colt the whole time.

Ridley is a character that I simply adored. I loved that she dropped essentially everything for vanlife and to go solve crimes while doing so on her podcast. She used her own pain and trauma to help others and their families in their time of need and honestly her meeting Colt was meant to be. He truly is what you'd describe as a grump, but once you get to know his character and his walls break down they are the perfect balance for each other. The spice was not at all too much and it honestly added so much to the story, the "fuck it" moment was everything.

All in all this book is perfect for romance lovers who enjoy a true crime podcast or two. I hope that Catherine writes more books in this series because I'd be all in for it. This was a truely fun book to read, I read it both physically and listened to the audiobook I loved it that much.

Thank you to Catherine and team for the ARC/ALC- it was a blast to read and listen to.
