EXCERPT: He had a gorgeous laugh and I couldn't help but notice that his eyes crinkled up when he smiled. It wasn't every day that you bumped into someone who got you in a bit of a tizzy first thing in the morning. Maybe today was going to be a good day.
The handsome stranger followed me to the shop and I put the pile of books on the step as I turned the key in the lock and pushed the door, propping it open with the cute little doorstopper that my friend Meredith had made me in the shape of a pile of books, before picking the pile of books up again. He followed me in and copied me as I put the pile of books on the wooden counter. It felt strange having someone come into the shop with me. This was normally my sacred time. The realisation of my dream come true.
Never being the most spontaneous of people, I don't know what made me do it but the next words came out of my mouth before I'd even really thought about it.
'I don't suppose you . . . oh, never mind.'
'No, go on.' He raised an eyebrow in anticipation.
'Well, I was going to make myself a coffee. I don't suppose you'd like to join me, would you?' I could have kicked myself. Why on earth did I just invite him to join me? What was wrong with me?
'That's very kind of you. Do you normally offer random strangers drinks in the morning?'
'Only on a Wednesday.'
He grinned back at me. Well in that case, I'd better make the most of the day and I'd love to accept and perhaps if I tell you that my name is Dennis, and my nan is Vi, then I won't be so much of a stranger.'
ABOUT 'THE BOOKSHOP AT THE CORNISH COVE': Dare to dream big…
When Nancy opened her dream bookshop overlooking the golden sands and shimmering waters of Driftwood Bay, she may have taken on a little too much. She might know all about books, but doesn’t know the first thing about business! She did however, want to do something meaningful with the inheritance money she got from her beloved Aunty Theresa.
When Dennis, visiting grandson of one of her dearest friends, offers to help, Nancy knows she can’t say no. Dennis is a high-flying businessman, with a fancy London job and a successful banking portfolio to prove it.
Trouble is, he makes the worst first impression. Nothing short of an insufferable know-it-all, Dennis takes every opportunity to remind her how out of her depth she is.
But Nancy knows her strengths, and just as much as she needs Dennis, he needs her too. There’s plenty she can teach him, and the more she shows off her world of Driftwood Bay, where the pace of life is slower and the morning sunrises are the most beautiful thing you can witness, perhaps they could become more than just business partners?
MY THOUGHTS: A sweet and cute romance with interesting characters set in a small Cornish seaside village.
I haven't read the three previous books in this series, but it didn't impact on my enjoyment at all. Each book focuses on a different character or set of characters with only a little crossover.
It would be hard not to smile while reading The Bookshop in the Cornish Cove. I smiled my way through most of it. It's one of those 'feelgood' reads where you may know what the outcome is going to be, but you have a lot of fun getting there.
Vi is the outstanding character in this novel. Dennis's nan, she is vibrant, outspoken, self-deprecating and full of life. I loved her. Nancy and Daniel's parents are also lovely characters with a strong marriage and an appreciation of the joys of life.
Dennis and Nancy definitely aren't two peas in a pod. They are about as different from one another as two people can be. Nancy is all about sustainability, wearing pre-loved clothes and taking part in the community effort to keep the beaches clean. Dennis is all about designer labels, foreign holidays and money, money and more money. Nancy can be stubborn; Dennis comes across as a smug know-it-all. Yet both have qualities that the other admires and before long, something sparks between them.
Of course it's not going to be a smooth ride. Where would be the fun in that? Even the spats and estrangements are entertaining.
One thing that niggled at me is that Nancy simply shuts her bookshop for days on end and swans off to either avoid Dennis when they are rowing, or to chase after him when they aren't. Not plausible. Especially immediately before Christmas!
All up, this is an easy and entertaining read, and I wouldn't say no to reading more from this series.

MEET THE AUTHOR: Mom to teenage son Oliver and rescue dog Roni, I have been an avid reader since I was a child. My passion is everything to do with books. I work for a publisher, I run a book club, I have this book blog and now, I'm an author too! (Source: kimthebookworm.co.uk)
DISCLOSURE: Thank you to Boldwood Books via NetGalley for providing a digital ARC of The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove by Kim Nash for review. All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own personal opinions.
The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove is another wonderful addition to the series by Kim Nash, which just keep getting better. If you haven't read this series, then I can highly recommend them all. You don't have to have read them all but some of the characters from the previous books are mentioned and it nice to hear what they are up to!
Nancy is mentioned at the end of the last book so it was lovely to focus on her and the new bookshop she has just opened. Having dreamt of this for most of her life, she is convinced it is out of reach so focuses on her life and being an art teacher. Her life changes when she receives an inheritance from her Aunt Theresa and she decides to follow her dreams and quit the job that isn’t making her happy. Although she is happy with her decision, things are a little bit slow and living in a small coastal village, her business isn’t booming as much as she would like, she knows things need to improve especially with the slower and quieter winter months approaching.
Dennis is the grandson of Vi, the heart and a big character in the village and visiting his grandmother, when he accidentally runs into Nancy, early one morning. Despite his brash character and personality, he can sense that things need to improve at the bookshop and offers to help Nancy and make the bookshop become more viable. At first Nancy is reluctant to have Dennis involved but when she mentions she doesn’t have a business plan and no idea of how to market her business, she eventually comes around and they form a bond despite them living completely different lives.
To say opposites attract is an understatement! Dennis is flash and wears the latest fashion, whereas Nancy is very much a homebody and loves her cosy village and waking up to beautiful views every morning. I loved how passionate she was with her views on protecting the environment and keeping the beaches clean which she introduces Dennis to.
The thing I really like about Kim's books are the underlying issues that she weaves into the plot. There are several in this story and they are written with consideration and not just for the sake of the storyline. I personally found the story surrounding Nancy's brother really interesting with his on/off relationship with his domineering girlfriend and his lack of confidence when faced with being on his own. Although not the main storyline, it was explored really well and am hoping that we get to here from him in further books as we get a bit of an inkling of what the future holds for him.....!
Another winner and beautifully written book from Kim Nash who just gets better with each book. It was just the type of book I needed to read.
I received an E-arc with a request for my honest review.
This beautiful romance is set in Driftwood Bay in Cornwall and follows Nancy who has just had the chance to open her own bookshop, which is her dream.
She soon realises that she knows nothing about how to run a business. When an offer for help is received, from a local’s grandson, she reluctantly agrees.
As they try to move past each other’s differences, they start to make progress not only with the bookshop, but their own lives.
Will the bookshop survive? Will romance blossom?
This romance is a beautiful read with plenty of awkward and funny moments along the way as the pair start to get to know each other.
There is a strong theme of friendship and family throughout too, as they both have a strong network of support around them.
I have heard so much about Cornwall and how lovely and beautiful it is, which this book shows even more.
Overall, a beautiful romance following the lives of characters at the Bookshop at Cornish Cove.
I'm reviewing this via NetGalley, as part of a tour with Rachel's Random Resources.
I love books about bookshops, so I thought this sounded like my kind of book, and it didn't disappoint. I pictured Driftwood Bay as a peaceful place, and was keen to know all about its residents. I really liked the protagonist, Nancy, as I felt that she was the kind of character I could identify with, the type of person I would like to be friends with. I warmed to some of the other characters too, including Dennis.
For the most part, the writing had a lighthearted tone that I loved, but I found that I was also able to connect with the story on a deeper level too. I found there were times when something about Nancy really resonated with me; the way she articulated her feelings about relationships, and life in general. I felt there were some tearjerker moments too; I became so invested in these characters that I found myself close to tears, which surprised me. I also loved the portrayals of friendship and family relationships.
This wasn't just a book about a bookshop; it was a great deal more than that. It was heartwarming, and a little bit like comfort food for the soul. I was very glad that I decided to read it.
Thank you to NetGalley, Rachel's Random Resources, Boldwood Books, and to the author, for the opportunity to read and review this.
I really loved this adorable read by Kim Nash , I was super excited by the bookshop, I loved Nancy so much she’d be me setting up my own business, lots of enthusiasm but no financial know how, but Nancy has a Dennis ! Dennis is such a star and I loved his backstory so much and how he shares it.
I also love the emphasis on sustainability and being green, but it’s not just a passing interest I loved how it showed up across the book in beach cleans to recycling. Showing the reader they can make a difference just like the characters, wonderful read.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a wonderful book. I enjoyed it from the very first page.
If I want a book that allows me to escape from reality fully, then I reach for one by Kim Nash.
This authors way with words is heavenly, and the characters that are created in her stories I can picture clearly in my mind. Alongside a beautiful setting and a heart warming storyline, this book had everything I needed and more!
This is the fourth book in the Cornish Bay series and it can easily be read as a standalone. I absolutely love this series and one of the things that made me want to read this book was the gorgeous cover. After Nancy receives an inheritance from her Aunty Theresa she decides to follow her dream and opens a book shop. For an avid reader like me I couldn’t think of anything better , imagine your own book store where you could spend all day selling books and of course reading them as well.
It was so lovely to be back in Driftwood Bay and catch up with characters we have met in previous books and new ones as well. I adored Vi with her way with words and some of her comments had me laughing out loud. Whilst this is an easy read it’s also one that absorbed me from the very start. Kim Nash is one of my go to authors and she has again written a book that made my heart sing at times. A perfect book for these colder nights curled up on the sofa with a hot chocolate in hand ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was such a delightful heart warming story. I loved the characters. The Bookshop sounds magically and like a place I'd love to spend time. This so definitely a book to gove you thr warm and fuzzies.

My Opinion
It was nice to visit Driftwood Bay again, it is always nice to visit old friends. Who doesn’t love a book that contains a book shop? Kim Nash is an author that I have only recently discovered but I have yet to find a book that I haven’t enjoyed.
The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove was a delightful book with some very relatable characters. Nancy and Dennis must work together to help make Nancy’s bookshop a financial success. The Cornish Cove series by Kim Nash really is a must-read series. I sat and read this book in one sitting as it was difficult to put down.
Rating 4/5
The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove is the fourth book in the Cornish Cove series by Kim Nash.
Nancy loves books and she has gotten some inheritance money from her aunt and decides to open a bookshop. She does not have much if any skills in running a business, and this causes her to have troubles.
The community is close knit and everyone knows everyone. Dennis comes to visit his grandmother and soon hears that Nancy is failing with her bookstore. He is willing to help her if she lets him.
I felt close to the characters in this book even without having read the first three in the series.
I am eager now to get the other books in the series.
Thank you NetGalley, Kim Nash and Boldwood Books for the copy of The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove. This is my personal review.
I'm going to be completely honest--Dennis really irked me at first. I felt like he had absolutely no heart at all at first. And I felt like Nancy was a bit grumpy. So if you go to read this and find yourself with the same thoughts--just give it a minute.
By the middle of this book, I was loving it. And I felt that the main characters just had some growing to do. Which, is the mark of a good story, in all honesty.
Seeing Nancy's dreams of having her own bookstore comes true was inspiring and lovely. Dennis eventually opening up--both of them opening up to each other--was just a bonus to the story and made me love them.
My heart does a little happy dance when it knows Nash has written another book set in the tiny village of Driftwood Bay.
The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove is the fourth in the series and was as always an absolute delight to read. Books about books and bookshops are guaranteed winners for me!
It's always great being able to reconnect with familiar faces and to have an overdue catch up. And it's always nice to become acquainted with new faces in the community.
A beautifully written, heartwarming read that immediately envelops you in a warm hug.
Sadly my visit was over all too soon, but I do hope I get a chance to return.
My thanks to Rachel of Rachel’s Random Resources for the tour invite and to the publisher for the copy to review via Netgalley. I’ve enjoyed Kim’s books before and I have several purchased ones waiting on my Kindle.
The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove is the fourth book in the Cornish Cove series, (which I didn’t realise when I accepted the review) however this didn’t matter at all and I comfortably enjoyed this one without any prior knowledge.
I’m sure that like many booklovers, I’ve secretly had a dream of owning a bookshop however here 27 year old Nancy realises that dream with the help of an inheritance. The problem is that despite her excitement she has no business plan, nor any concept of how to grow the business and it looks doomed to fail. This is where Dennis comes in. Dennis is both handsome and a hot shot financial adviser who quickly susses out Nancy’s business weak spots. Unfortunately he also has rather an arrogant and condescending manner which sets sparks and friction flying between the two.
This was my first visit to Driftwood Bay and I loved the community feel that comes through. Aside from books, Nancy’s other passion is protecting the environment and sustainability; as a Beach Angel she is diligent in beach clearing and frequently gives up her time. No foreign holidays or long haul flights for her, unlike Dennis’ extravagant travel lifestyle – the two of them seemed miles apart on this alone.
Those fledgling sparks of romance had a challenging time with these two. Both had their flaws, Nancy being frustratingly stubborn whilst Dennis often came across as a smug know it all. As you can probably guess though, there is more to this fractious relationship than initially appears and the slow release of background information makes for a story with depth and compassion. Dennis’ obvious affection for his gran was heartwarming to see.
This was such a warm and engaging read which I very much enjoyed. Aside from the community pulling together, there is a deep family bond and loyalty surrounding Nancy – her brother, despite his own problems, really was a supportive shoulder. Potty mouth Vi, Dennis’ elderly grandmother, provided the humour to this thoughtful and uplifting story. I will be checking out the others in the series as I would love to return to Driftwood Bay.
Oh my DAYS, have I got a treat for you! The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove by Kim Nash has everything you need if fun is what you are after.
The FMC, Nancy, is 27, who often feels a bit like an old soul ~ owns Books In The Bay, a little bookshop with BIG heart in the seaside fictional town of Driftwood Bay. When she meets Dennis, the handsome but infuriatingly stubborn nephew of the quirky Vi, it’s a classic case of will they/won’t they, with plenty of enemies to friends to enemies to lovers deliciousness! Honestly, the chemistry between Nancy and Dennis is on point —and yes, it might just leave you shouting at the pages in true rom-com fashion, “JUST KISS ALREADY!”
No spoilers, but let me just say that Kim Nash has absolutely nailed the perfect balance between sweet romance and light humour. There are laugh-out-loud moments (the banter between Nancy and Dennis is on point!), a sprinkle of miscommunication that keeps the tension high, and more than a few heart-tugging scenes that will leave you misty-eyed.
It’s not just the romance and setting that make this book special. Nash weaves in themes of personal growth, second chances, and the importance of following your dreams and your heart. And yes, there’s even a nod to conservation and sustainability, which gave the story a lovely, grounded feel amidst all the swoony moments.
And oh, that HEA ending… you’ll just have to read it yourself, but trust me, it’s the cherry on top of an already-perfect sundae.
Would I recommend this book? Absofrigginlutely! If you’re a fan of romances that are as heartwarming as they are hilarious, with a sprinkle of bookish magic and a seaside setting you’ll never want to leave, then The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove is an absolute must-read.
Kim Nash has crafted a story that’s sure to stay with you long after you turn the final page. A feel-good escape that’s perfect for the season—highly recommended!

There are so many things that are absolutely gorgeous about this book, the title for one, the cover, Driftwood Bay and this cosy little bookshop.
Nancy is a lovely character but not so good in the business department so it's no surprise to discover that her idyllic bookshop, her life's dream come true, is not doing so well in the financial sense.
Enter Dennis, her friend Vi's grandson who is a bit of a stuffy accountant type it seems. He certainly doesn't impress Nancy either with his choice of words or actions however she does think he's a bit of a hunk despite all that.
Nancy has an official launch party coming up and needs all hands on deck and Dennis appears to be just the man for the job. Once they begin to understand each other their working relationship becomes a whole lot easier, that is until someone causes trouble for them further down the line.
I really loved Nancy and her little hobby of painting shells and felt she so deserved a happy ending. I felt as though I was in the bookshop with her alot of the time as it sounded like such a lovely place to be. I'd already fallen in love with Driftwood Bay from reading Kim's other books so it was exciting to pop back for a visit to see how everyone was getting on.
I really enjoyed the relationship that Nancy had with her brother, the easy way they spoke to and tormented each other was such a joy and showed another dimension to Nancy's character, it also provided lots of humour in the book as well as sentimentality and family loyalty.
Packed with friendship, romance, (I mean what could be more romantic than meeting in a bookshop,) and a cast of interesting characters, this book is a perfect, uplifting and cosy read to get you through the long cold winter nights. I thoroughly recommend but I guarantee you will be wanting to open a bookshop of your own.
Great to be back in Driftwood Bay and to have Nancy's story. I loved her enthusiasm for making her life long dream of opening a bookshop come to life even if she didn't go into it with her eyes wide open. Great the way Dennis helped her out, even he was a bit pompous about it, but his heart was in the right place. Lovely warmhearted beach read
It’s really weird to say this but I liked and didn’t like this book. It was very difficult for me to get into and then when it seemed to be getting okay it was over. I suppose the premise of the story is a good one but Dennis wasn’t as horrible of a person as he was described to be. I thought there would be more back and forth between Dennis and Nancy and it would take a lot to get them together. I just thought there could be more to this story.
For many readers, the dream of working in or owning a bookstore is real, if for no other reason that you get to read and talk about books all day! How much fun would that be?
For Nancy, that dream has come through, thanks in no small part to an inheritance that she has received. She has set up her shop in the small town of Driftwood Bay. It's fair to say that Nancy doesn't have a lot of experience running a business, but she does have every faith in the universe providing. She has a kind of if you build it they will come kind of mentality. When she isn't busy in her store, she helps keep the local beach clean, doing her bit for the environment
The person she doesn't expect to have come into her life is hotshot finance/business man Dennis. He is visiting his colourful grandmother, Vi, in Driftwood Bay. He waltzes into town wearing his designer clothes, takes one look at Nancy's store and sees straight away that she has no idea how to run a business successfully. And much to Nancy's chagrin, he's not afraid to tell her all the ways she is getting it wrong, which causes them to clash, even though she does have to admit, some of his ideas are quite good. And he is quite handsome too.
All is not as it seems with Dennis though. He is in Driftwood Bay because he is facing some challenges at work. While he gives off successful businessman vibes, he has had to work hard to get to where he is, especially given his start in life. I loved how the author chose to share Dennis's story through the mechanism of letters. It was such an effective way to do this.
Nancy has her own issues when it comes to romantic relationships, and it takes some time for her to see through outward appearances, sometimes too long maybe, so there was a time when I was inwardly begging Nancy just to talk to Dennis about what was going on.
This is the fourth book in the Cornish Cove series, all set in Driftwood Bay, and I have enjoyed them all. I loved the addition of the bookstore to the town. One thing that I really noticed in this book was the proliferation of specifically British insults and terms of endearment through the book. Maybe they were in the previous books but they really stood out this time.
One things that authors do get right so often is the vibe of small town bookstores, and this was no exception. It sounded so cute, with great special events, and unique aspects to it. I for one would love to visit Nancy's book store in Driftwood Bay.
I am sharing this review with the New Release Challenge hosted by The Chocolate Lady's Book Reviews and the Bookish Books Challenge hosted at Bloggin' Bout Books. Be sure to check out other stops on the tour shown below. Thanks to the publisher, Netgalley and Rachel's Random Resources for the review copy.
A bookshop in a Cornish seaside village sounds idyllic. It has always been Nancy's dream, and she makes it come true when she receives an unexpected legacy. However, the reality is more complex, and she starts to get into financial difficulties but is reluctant to admit she is struggling. Dennis is Vi's grandson, whom we have met in previous stories; he is a successful business expert who offers to help Nancy. His overbearing manner irritates Nancy, but he has secrets that she starts to unravel. Friendship strengthens their bond, and romance seems likely, but there's an emotional rollercoaster to ride in this heartwarming read. I like the challenges to their relationships, the diverse characters that add complexity and relatability to the story and the engaging storytelling that keeps me turning the pages.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
