I notice over the last number of years I tend to steer towards crime novels quite alot.
I do love contemporary fiction and the occasional romantic read. But it's mainly crime..
I was delighted however when I came across author Kim Nash some time ago. I've followed her ever since and it is so lovely to watch her grow as an author from her debut novel.
Her Cornish Cove series I really enjoy. It is light hearted but at the same time deals with everyday trials and tribulations.
What I love is how with each book is that she let's us meet new characters from the wonderful Driftwood Bay with familiar characters from the previous books popping up every so often.
How delightful that Kim incorporates a fabulous bookshop into the story in book four.
Her bookshop in Driftwood Bay is what we all dream about having.
Nancy is living our dream..
And there is something so calm and peaceful about the way of life in the bay.
We want it at some point in our life.
Wouldn't it be lovely to pack up and move to the peace and quiet.
Her character Nancy is so lovely on both the inside and out.
I feel people need love in their life and we shine when we have it bringing the very best in us out.
I loved the will they won't they story unfolding between Nancy and Dennis and it keeps us interested.
So very well worth your time..100%
Huge well done to the author..

I loved this so much. Set in Cornwall, a bookshop in a seaside village and a simmering romance. What's not to love. All the characters were interesting and this gave me a real feel for the place. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Book 77 of 2024

📖 The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove by Kim Nash

I adored this book and loved slipping back into life in the fictional seaside town of Driftwood Bay, the beautiful place where everyone looks out for each other. I loved the little mentions to the characters from the previous books.

I knew I’d love this next instalment as soon as I heard the title. Owning a bookshop is every book lovers dream so slipping into life following the owner was wonderful and found the story so beautifully written.

I feel this series gets better with each new book. As with others in the series, the characters are so well developed, you can’t help but love them. I particularly loved the camaraderie between the siblings Nancy and Dan, their close relationship with rivalry and playful banter, I love the rapport they had and loved their interactions.

Equally the wit through the book was brilliant! I’ve mentioned this in my last review with ‘Nan’ and love the little quips she makes but in this book those little comedy notes are frequent which really lifted spirits and kept me smiling throughout.

I adore this series and if you are looking for something light hearted with a touch of romance without the detailed spice then this series is just perfect for you.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'The Bookshop At The Cornish Cove' by Kim Nash.

This is the fourth book I have read by this author. It is also the fourth book in the 'Cornish Cove' series but can be read as a standalone. I have also read 'Hopeful Hearts At The Cornish Cove' (book 1 in this series) and 'Finding Family At The Cornish Cove' (book 2 in this series) and 'Making memories At The Cornish Cove' (book 3). I would highly recommend reading them all!!

Yet another absolutely stunning page turner from the extremely talented Kim!! Well done Kim on an absolutely beautiful and perfect read!! This is the ideal beach read where you could sit there and turn around and just imagine the town coming to life around you.

This book is extremely well written with beautiful descriptions that completely drew me in. The synopsis and the cover match the storyline perfectly!!

This book is another absolute must read by the incredible Kim Nash. I mean the fact that it has BOOKSHOP and CORNISH COVE in the title just says it all already!! i mean I absolutely LOVE Cornwall so any books based in Cornwall always shoot straight to the top of my reading list and well, you cannot call yourself a bibliophile if the word bookshop in the title does not make you want to grip this book off the shelves and read it!!! personally, I would highly recommend that instead of wasting your time reading my review where I am going to attempt to tell you how amazing this book is even though it is impossible to put into words you go out and spend your time actually reading this incredible book!! As I mentioned this is the fourth book in the series and although I always prefer reading books in order myself if you have not read the previous 3 books in this series then there is no need to worry!! All books in this series can be read as standalones and there is a good side of starting a book later in the series and that is that while you are waiting for the next book to come out you can go back and catch up on the previous books!! I was absolutely landed to get stuck into this book after falling in love with Driftwood Bay in the first book in this beautiful series which is called 'Hopeful Hearts At The Cornish Cove'. I just knew this one was going to be just as stunning as the previous three and I was not let down!!! The storyline itself completely swept me away. I absolutely adored the storyline and getting to know the lives of so many different people, seeing their relationships and friendships change and see how they react to secrets, heartache, changes, romance and everything else that goes on in this absolutely fantastic read!! Coming back to Driftwood Bay genuinely feels like returning to a much loved holiday destination where I cannot wait to meet up with old friends and make new ones discovering more about them each and every time. I had been to holiday in Cornwall in March this year where I fell in love with it and missed it before I read this book but OMG Kim has made me want to jump in the car and go straight back now!!! Thankfully I am returning to St Ives again in April so I don't have long to wait to return even though after this book it really does feel like I have just this second returned after leaving there!!! Kim's stunning evocative writing skills ensures the readers are absolutely sucked into the stunning storyline with the atmosphere and characters coming to life all around them.. I absolutely fell in love venturing back into Cornwall and Kim portrays life in a small town absolutely perfectly. I live in a small village myself and Kim really has captivated life in a small community absolutely spot on! I became so invested in this book that it actually felt like going on a holiday and I absolutely dreaded coming to the end where I had to unpack my suitcase and get back to reality retuning to wet and dreary Wales. It was an absolutely compelling and addictive heart lifting read that kept me turning the pages until late at night. I loved discovering the pasts and histories of the characters and the town and I was absolutely swept away in the story line. The town came to life around me and I cannot wait to return in the next book in this absolutely stunning series. In this stunning storyline we delve in to Nancy's beautiful bookshop 'Books In the Bay' which Nancy set up after she was left money in her Aunty Theresa's will. However, Nancy is struggling financially Vi's grandson Dennis steps in to help. i wont tell you more about the storyline as Kim has done an incredible job of telling you what you need to know in the synopsis and you will just have to grab a copy of this page turner to find out more. i can promise that you will not regret it and if you have never read any books in this series before I can guarantee you will find yourself a new favourite author and series just like I have!! With an absolutely stunning storyline ram packed with books, friendship, books, love, community, books, stunning settings, books, romance, painting, books, family and so so much more... did I mention books?? What on Earth are you waiting for? This book really has gone absolutely everything you could ask for and much much more for a gorgeous escape to Cornwall and Driftwood Bay. This book really was a stunning read that had me hoping and wishing that Nancy's dreams continued, spitting my tea out while I laughed so much with some of the absolutely hilarious things Vi came out with, rooting for Nancy and Dennis and much more. I can honestly say that at times I was laughing out loud at so many of the things the characters came out with and I ended up spitting out my tea on so many occasions I gave up attempting to drink while reading it at all!!! I have had an absolute week from hell and this book is exactly what the doctor ordered and it's made me feel so much happier and lighter so thank you so much Kim!!! This book is escapism at its best and is a perfect way to disappear into an amazing world for a while. It is one of those books that I just could not put down and drive everyone mad by walking around reading it every chance I got and ended up devouring it in one sitting!! You really do want to clear your schedules before reading a single word as I genuinely got NOTHING done as there was NO CHANCE i could put this book down at all! This book would make an absolutely gorgeous movie which I would absolutely love to see!!

An absolutely gorgeous, page turning and addictive addition to a stunning series!! Don't even peek into this book until you've cleared your schedules as you won't be able to put it down!!

Although this is the fourth book in the series I would have had absolutely no problems reading it without the others. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.

I was completely invested in the characters, along with the storyline, who were all absolutely fantastic with their own individual unique personalities, flaws, strengths, weaknesses and quirks. Every one of the characters had a part to play and they were all completely unforgettable. I absolutely loved meeting many of the characters from the first three books in this series 'Hopeful Hearts At The Cornish Cove', 'Finding Family At The Cornish Cove' and 'Making Memories At The Cornish Cove' along with some amazing new characters!!!
Each and every one of the unique characters I had previously met had already become like friends to me and it was lovely to add some more!!! I felt like I was leaving amazing people and friends and feel quite sad about that but am happy in the knowledge that this book is just the second book in this stunning series and I just can't wait to get stuck into more of these gorgeous books. I loved watching how so many characters and personalities from Driftwood develop and go from strength to strength from the first page to the last. I loved watching relationships change and develop and seeing how close knit many of them are. these are characters that Kim has done such an amazing job creating and the fact that she clearly cares about them just shines through the pages. Her amazing emotive and evocative writing skills brings them to life and you can see, feel and hear everything that each and every one of them are going through, seeing and doing. There are just so many amazing characters to meet!! I adored Nancy and her stunning bookshop, watching Dennis see that there is more to life than money, laughing out loud at the amazing Vi and many more and I could keep meeting them time and time again and never get bored. I just absolutely adore this amazing community!! There are just so many wonderful characters that I could go on and on but this review is long enough!!! They all made me laugh, swoon, smile, cry, joyous and much more!!! All of these characters work absolutely perfectly together to make this a stunning page turner and I cannot wait to return to Driftwood to meet them again!!

Congratulations Kim on yet absolutely gorgeous success!!! I'm definitely looking forward to my next holiday to Cornwall and cannot wait for the next book in this series!!! This is the exact reason you are in my favourite author club and here is to your next success 🥂 !!!

Overall this is a perfect, stunning, page turning beach or fireplace read with an amazing gang of characters that will sweep you away to the gorgeous town of Driftwood from the very first page to the end!

EXCERPT: He had a gorgeous laugh and I couldn't help but notice that his eyes crinkled up when he smiled. It wasn't every day that you bumped into someone who got you in a bit of a tizzy first thing in the morning. Maybe today was going to be a good day.
The handsome stranger followed me to the shop and I put the pile of books on the step as I turned the key in the lock and pushed the door, propping it open with the cute little doorstopper that my friend Meredith had made me in the shape of a pile of books, before picking the pile of books up again. He followed me in and copied me as I put the pile of books on the wooden counter. It felt strange having someone come into the shop with me. This was normally my sacred time. The realisation of my dream come true.
Never being the most spontaneous of people, I don't know what made me do it but the next words came out of my mouth before I'd even really thought about it.
'I don't suppose you . . . oh, never mind.'
'No, go on.' He raised an eyebrow in anticipation.
'Well, I was going to make myself a coffee. I don't suppose you'd like to join me, would you?' I could have kicked myself. Why on earth did I just invite him to join me? What was wrong with me?
'That's very kind of you. Do you normally offer random strangers drinks in the morning?'
'Only on a Wednesday.'
He grinned back at me. Well in that case, I'd better make the most of the day and I'd love to accept and perhaps if I tell you that my name is Dennis, and my nan is Vi, then I won't be so much of a stranger.'

ABOUT 'THE BOOKSHOP AT THE CORNISH COVE': Dare to dream big…

When Nancy opened her dream bookshop overlooking the golden sands and shimmering waters of Driftwood Bay, she may have taken on a little too much. She might know all about books, but doesn’t know the first thing about business! She did however, want to do something meaningful with the inheritance money she got from her beloved Aunty Theresa.

When Dennis, visiting grandson of one of her dearest friends, offers to help, Nancy knows she can’t say no. Dennis is a high-flying businessman, with a fancy London job and a successful banking portfolio to prove it.

Trouble is, he makes the worst first impression. Nothing short of an insufferable know-it-all, Dennis takes every opportunity to remind her how out of her depth she is.

But Nancy knows her strengths, and just as much as she needs Dennis, he needs her too. There’s plenty she can teach him, and the more she shows off her world of Driftwood Bay, where the pace of life is slower and the morning sunrises are the most beautiful thing you can witness, perhaps they could become more than just business partners?

MY THOUGHTS: A sweet and cute romance with interesting characters set in a small Cornish seaside village.

I haven't read the three previous books in this series, but it didn't impact on my enjoyment at all. Each book focuses on a different character or set of characters with only a little crossover.

It would be hard not to smile while reading The Bookshop in the Cornish Cove. I smiled my way through most of it. It's one of those 'feelgood' reads where you may know what the outcome is going to be, but you have a lot of fun getting there.

Vi is the outstanding character in this novel. Dennis's nan, she is vibrant, outspoken, self-deprecating and full of life. I loved her. Nancy and Daniel's parents are also lovely characters with a strong marriage and an appreciation of the joys of life.

Dennis and Nancy definitely aren't two peas in a pod. They are about as different from one another as two people can be. Nancy is all about sustainability, wearing pre-loved clothes and taking part in the community effort to keep the beaches clean. Dennis is all about designer labels, foreign holidays and money, money and more money. Nancy can be stubborn; Dennis comes across as a smug know-it-all. Yet both have qualities that the other admires and before long, something sparks between them.

Of course it's not going to be a smooth ride. Where would be the fun in that? Even the spats and estrangements are entertaining.

One thing that niggled at me is that Nancy simply shuts her bookshop for days on end and swans off to either avoid Dennis when they are rowing, or to chase after him when they aren't. Not plausible. Especially immediately before Christmas!

All up, this is an easy and entertaining read, and I wouldn't say no to reading more from this series.

The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove is another wonderful addition to the series by Kim Nash, which just keep getting better. If you haven't read this series, then I can highly recommend them all. You don't have to have read them all but some of the characters from the previous books are mentioned and it nice to hear what they are up to!

Nancy is mentioned at the end of the last book so it was lovely to focus on her and the new bookshop she has just opened. Having dreamt of this for most of her life, she is convinced it is out of reach so focuses on her life and being an art teacher. Her life changes when she receives an inheritance from her Aunt Theresa and she decides to follow her dreams and quit the job that isn’t making her happy. Although she is happy with her decision, things are a little bit slow and living in a small coastal village, her business isn’t booming as much as she would like, she knows things need to improve especially with the slower and quieter winter months approaching.

Dennis is the grandson of Vi, the heart and a big character in the village and visiting his grandmother, when he accidentally runs into Nancy, early one morning. Despite his brash character and personality, he can sense that things need to improve at the bookshop and offers to help Nancy and make the bookshop become more viable. At first Nancy is reluctant to have Dennis involved but when she mentions she doesn’t have a business plan and no idea of how to market her business, she eventually comes around and they form a bond despite them living completely different lives.

To say opposites attract is an understatement! Dennis is flash and wears the latest fashion, whereas Nancy is very much a homebody and loves her cosy village and waking up to beautiful views every morning. I loved how passionate she was with her views on protecting the environment and keeping the beaches clean which she introduces Dennis to.

The thing I really like about Kim's books are the underlying issues that she weaves into the plot. There are several in this story and they are written with consideration and not just for the sake of the storyline. I personally found the story surrounding Nancy's brother really interesting with his on/off relationship with his domineering girlfriend and his lack of confidence when faced with being on his own. Although not the main storyline, it was explored really well and am hoping that we get to here from him in further books as we get a bit of an inkling of what the future holds for him.....!

Another winner and beautifully written book from Kim Nash who just gets better with each book. It was just the type of book I needed to read.

I received an E-arc with a request for my honest review.

This beautiful romance is set in Driftwood Bay in Cornwall and follows Nancy who has just had the chance to open her own bookshop, which is her dream.

She soon realises that she knows nothing about how to run a business. When an offer for help is received, from a local’s grandson, she reluctantly agrees.

As they try to move past each other’s differences, they start to make progress not only with the bookshop, but their own lives.

Will the bookshop survive? Will romance blossom?

This romance is a beautiful read with plenty of awkward and funny moments along the way as the pair start to get to know each other.

There is a strong theme of friendship and family throughout too, as they both have a strong network of support around them.

I have heard so much about Cornwall and how lovely and beautiful it is, which this book shows even more.

Overall, a beautiful romance following the lives of characters at the Bookshop at Cornish Cove.

I'm reviewing this via NetGalley, as part of a tour with Rachel's Random Resources.

I love books about bookshops, so I thought this sounded like my kind of book, and it didn't disappoint. I pictured Driftwood Bay as a peaceful place, and was keen to know all about its residents. I really liked the protagonist, Nancy, as I felt that she was the kind of character I could identify with, the type of person I would like to be friends with. I warmed to some of the other characters too, including Dennis.

For the most part, the writing had a lighthearted tone that I loved, but I found that I was also able to connect with the story on a deeper level too. I found there were times when something about Nancy really resonated with me; the way she articulated her feelings about relationships, and life in general. I felt there were some tearjerker moments too; I became so invested in these characters that I found myself close to tears, which surprised me. I also loved the portrayals of friendship and family relationships.

This wasn't just a book about a bookshop; it was a great deal more than that. It was heartwarming, and a little bit like comfort food for the soul. I was very glad that I decided to read it.

Thank you to NetGalley, Rachel's Random Resources, Boldwood Books, and to the author, for the opportunity to read and review this.

I really loved this adorable read by Kim Nash , I was super excited by the bookshop, I loved Nancy so much she’d be me setting up my own business, lots of enthusiasm but no financial know how, but Nancy has a Dennis ! Dennis is such a star and I loved his backstory so much and how he shares it.

I also love the emphasis on sustainability and being green, but it’s not just a passing interest I loved how it showed up across the book in beach cleans to recycling. Showing the reader they can make a difference just like the characters, wonderful read.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

If I want a book that allows me to escape from reality fully, then I reach for one by Kim Nash.

This authors way with words is heavenly, and the characters that are created in her stories I can picture clearly in my mind. Alongside a beautiful setting and a heart warming storyline, this book had everything I needed and more!

This is the fourth book in the Cornish Bay series and it can easily be read as a standalone. I absolutely love this series and one of the things that made me want to read this book was the gorgeous cover. After Nancy receives an inheritance from her Aunty Theresa she decides to follow her dream and opens a book shop. For an avid reader like me I couldn’t think of anything better , imagine your own book store where you could spend all day selling books and of course reading them as well.
It was so lovely to be back in Driftwood Bay and catch up with characters we have met in previous books and new ones as well. I adored Vi with her way with words and some of her comments had me laughing out loud. Whilst this is an easy read it’s also one that absorbed me from the very start. Kim Nash is one of my go to authors and she has again written a book that made my heart sing at times. A perfect book for these colder nights curled up on the sofa with a hot chocolate in hand ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My Opinion

It was nice to visit Driftwood Bay again, it is always nice to visit old friends. Who doesn’t love a book that contains a book shop? Kim Nash is an author that I have only recently discovered but I have yet to find a book that I haven’t enjoyed.

The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove was a delightful book with some very relatable characters. Nancy and Dennis must work together to help make Nancy’s bookshop a financial success. The Cornish Cove series by Kim Nash really is a must-read series. I sat and read this book in one sitting as it was difficult to put down.

The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove is the fourth book in the Cornish Cove series by Kim Nash.
Nancy loves books and she has gotten some inheritance money from her aunt and decides to open a bookshop. She does not have much if any skills in running a business, and this causes her to have troubles.
The community is close knit and everyone knows everyone. Dennis comes to visit his grandmother and soon hears that Nancy is failing with her bookstore. He is willing to help her if she lets him.
I felt close to the characters in this book even without having read the first three in the series.
I am eager now to get the other books in the series.
Thank you NetGalley, Kim Nash and Boldwood Books for the copy of The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove. This is my personal review.

I'm going to be completely honest--Dennis really irked me at first. I felt like he had absolutely no heart at all at first. And I felt like Nancy was a bit grumpy. So if you go to read this and find yourself with the same thoughts--just give it a minute.

By the middle of this book, I was loving it. And I felt that the main characters just had some growing to do. Which, is the mark of a good story, in all honesty.

Seeing Nancy's dreams of having her own bookstore comes true was inspiring and lovely. Dennis eventually opening up--both of them opening up to each other--was just a bonus to the story and made me love them.

My heart does a little happy dance when it knows Nash has written another book set in the tiny village of Driftwood Bay.

The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove is the fourth in the series and was as always an absolute delight to read. Books about books and bookshops are guaranteed winners for me!

It's always great being able to reconnect with familiar faces and to have an overdue catch up. And it's always nice to become acquainted with new faces in the community.

A beautifully written, heartwarming read that immediately envelops you in a warm hug.

Sadly my visit was over all too soon, but I do hope I get a chance to return.

My thanks to Rachel of Rachel’s Random Resources for the tour invite and to the publisher for the copy to review via Netgalley. I’ve enjoyed Kim’s books before and I have several purchased ones waiting on my Kindle.

The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove is the fourth book in the Cornish Cove series, (which I didn’t realise when I accepted the review) however this didn’t matter at all and I comfortably enjoyed this one without any prior knowledge.

I’m sure that like many booklovers, I’ve secretly had a dream of owning a bookshop however here 27 year old Nancy realises that dream with the help of an inheritance. The problem is that despite her excitement she has no business plan, nor any concept of how to grow the business and it looks doomed to fail. This is where Dennis comes in. Dennis is both handsome and a hot shot financial adviser who quickly susses out Nancy’s business weak spots. Unfortunately he also has rather an arrogant and condescending manner which sets sparks and friction flying between the two.

This was my first visit to Driftwood Bay and I loved the community feel that comes through. Aside from books, Nancy’s other passion is protecting the environment and sustainability; as a Beach Angel she is diligent in beach clearing and frequently gives up her time. No foreign holidays or long haul flights for her, unlike Dennis’ extravagant travel lifestyle – the two of them seemed miles apart on this alone.

Those fledgling sparks of romance had a challenging time with these two. Both had their flaws, Nancy being frustratingly stubborn whilst Dennis often came across as a smug know it all. As you can probably guess though, there is more to this fractious relationship than initially appears and the slow release of background information makes for a story with depth and compassion. Dennis’ obvious affection for his gran was heartwarming to see.

This was such a warm and engaging read which I very much enjoyed. Aside from the community pulling together, there is a deep family bond and loyalty surrounding Nancy – her brother, despite his own problems, really was a supportive shoulder. Potty mouth Vi, Dennis’ elderly grandmother, provided the humour to this thoughtful and uplifting story. I will be checking out the others in the series as I would love to return to Driftwood Bay.

Oh my DAYS, have I got a treat for you! The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove by Kim Nash has everything you need if fun is what you are after.

The FMC, Nancy, is 27, who often feels a bit like an old soul ~ owns Books In The Bay, a little bookshop with BIG heart in the seaside fictional town of Driftwood Bay. When she meets Dennis, the handsome but infuriatingly stubborn nephew of the quirky Vi, it’s a classic case of will they/won’t they, with plenty of enemies to friends to enemies to lovers deliciousness! Honestly, the chemistry between Nancy and Dennis is on point —and yes, it might just leave you shouting at the pages in true rom-com fashion, “JUST KISS ALREADY!”

No spoilers, but let me just say that Kim Nash has absolutely nailed the perfect balance between sweet romance and light humour. There are laugh-out-loud moments (the banter between Nancy and Dennis is on point!), a sprinkle of miscommunication that keeps the tension high, and more than a few heart-tugging scenes that will leave you misty-eyed.

It’s not just the romance and setting that make this book special. Nash weaves in themes of personal growth, second chances, and the importance of following your dreams and your heart. And yes, there’s even a nod to conservation and sustainability, which gave the story a lovely, grounded feel amidst all the swoony moments.

And oh, that HEA ending… you’ll just have to read it yourself, but trust me, it’s the cherry on top of an already-perfect sundae.

Would I recommend this book? Absofrigginlutely! If you’re a fan of romances that are as heartwarming as they are hilarious, with a sprinkle of bookish magic and a seaside setting you’ll never want to leave, then The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove is an absolute must-read.

Kim Nash has crafted a story that’s sure to stay with you long after you turn the final page. A feel-good escape that’s perfect for the season—highly recommended!
