This was a very good read and a slow burn which quickly got going and became a complete page turner.
This twisty psychological thriller had me guessing and second guessing what was happening and the last third of the book there is so much information to take in I had to stop myself from rushing ahead to find out what had happened and enjoy the reading.
Great plot and some twists that were completely unexpected. Highly recommend this book.

This is quite a twisty tale! I will say that the beginning of this story is slow, as you are introduced to so many characters. However, the tension and excitement certainly builds until all the secrets are revealed. I sure enjoyed this one!

An interesting premise here - two wives, one child, two husbands, or is it just one? Liv’s husband disappeared many years ago, leaving three year old Maddox to be found hiding in a cave. His father was assumed to be dead. Then we have Kait - pregnant with her first child and becoming increasingly suspicious of her husband Daniel, who is clearly not in the places he says he is. The skill in this book is joining up all the threads, which is most.y done successfully, but there are some moments of confusion. Overall, this is an engrossing read, with effective pacing a mostly plausible story and a chilling ending.

Rich, Liv’s husband, had been missing for years after failing to return home after a trip out with their son. She believes her luck will change soon.

Kait lives with her husband, Daniel and thought things were good until she finds a note that has fallen out of his pocket. She knows something isn’t right. Will she find out what’s going on?

This is my second book by this author and having enjoyed the last one I knew I needed to read this. I’m glad that I did pick it up as it ended up being a complex and very twisty read. It took some time to get going but once it did it became very intriguing and I was desperate to work out what was going on. There were lots of points of views which jumped around quite a lot and some narratives I was less interested in. Even though I didn’t fully connect to the story, I did enjoy the majority of this thriller and I really enjoyed all the little twists. 3.5 stars rounded down. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read The Married Man by K.L. Slater in exchange for an honest review.

K.L. Slater’s latest thriller is an intricate story of deception, secrets, and betrayal that will keep readers guessing. Eleven years ago, Liv’s husband, Rich, disappeared under mysterious circumstances, leaving her to raise their son, Maddox, alone. Rich convinced Liv to help stage his disappearance, promising a payout after a certain time. Now, as the deadline approaches and Liv waits for the promised money, a shocking revelation unfolds: Rich has started a new life with a different family, shattering Liv’s world once again.

Meanwhile, we meet Kait, a soon-to-be mother married to Daniel. Though Kait feels she’s in a happy relationship, she starts noticing her husband’s increasingly odd behavior. Her suspicions are confirmed when she uncovers evidence tying Daniel to Maddox’s past—leading her to question everything about the man she thought she knew.

The Married Man is an expertly crafted thriller filled with tension and well-plotted twists. Slater’s characters are deeply flawed yet relatable, making the story all the more compelling. The alternating perspectives between Liv and Kait add depth and complexity, as each woman’s journey reveals hidden motives and painful truths. The pacing is steady, building suspense until the surprising, intense climax.

This is another standout from K.L. Slater, perfect for fans of psychological suspense who enjoy stories about buried secrets and morally ambiguous characters. Highly recommended for readers who appreciate thrillers with unexpected twists and emotionally charged drama.

Well to start off what can I say, an absolutely fantastic read. Lots of twists! The plot is brilliant nothing like I've ever read before, kept me guessing, how did Rich, Maddox's dad go missing? I thought he died?! I love how the characters are portrayed, they are described well. I could really feel for the characters through the pages and especially for Maddox the teenage boy he must've felt so confused and hurt by the whole thing. The book made you think about the other characters are they lying? Are they telling the truth. I saw straight through Kait and wasn't sure on her from the beginning she was introduced. At the end I really felt for Liv, she got dragged into it all. The book was a little bit too much of a slow burner for me at the beginning and it did take a while for me to get into but there were many points of view to get through and once that was done the plot thickened and sped up!

Really glad I read this book and would definitely pick up another K.L Slater book again! Thanks very much to Netgalley for approving me to read this book.

This is a great, twisty thriller! Liv and Rich have a son Maddox who is three. But when father and son go out to fly a kite, Rich suddenly disappears. In another scenario, Kait is pregnant with Daniel's baby. Then we have two detectives looking into gang activity. There are burner phones, loads of cash, computer glitches, and mistaken identity. It's one hell of a ride!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!

The married Man by KL Slater, live is married to Richard and they have a three-year-old son name Maddox. When Richard takes Maddox out to fly his sonic the hedgehog kite they don’t return after live calls the police they find the three-year-old but no Richard. The reader soon learns this was planned in some form or fashion. It’s 10 years later and we meet Kate she is married to Daniel in there expecting a baby. Kate couldn’t be happier and Daniel totes on Kate and caters to her every whim but there are moments when Kate sees Daniel is worried and in deep thought about something that he’s unwilling to share with her. This is why when she finds a piece of paper with the words F Forest in a series of numbers on it that he dropped instead of giving it back to him she becomes obsessed with it. When it all leads back to Kate and now teenage Maddox, Kate assumes the worst but little does Kate know the truth is much more horrible than that. There is so much to this book gangsters fake relatives and relatives that are all too real and duplicitous theres revenge, longing, jealousy and much much more and it all makes for this great book. If KL Slater was an architect she would give Henry Lloyd right a run for his money. It is books like this that make other thriller authors look like second graders writing their first sentence. This is a banger of a book and the reason why I do not pass up a novel by this author.#NetGalley, #Bookoucher, #KLSlater, #TheMarriedMan,

K.L. Slater is a great novelist. I have read and loved many of her works, including The Silent Ones and The Mistake. I absolutely love how she can weave storylines together to create a wild and suspenseful ride for her readers. Unfortunately, The Married Man fell short of my expectations. I so desperately wanted to love this newest installment, but it ended up being rather bland with a predictable ending. I did appreciate that all the storylines were acknowledged and questions regarding the investigation were fully answered. I would have loved to learn more about what happens to Liv and Maddox in the future and how they both overcome their traumas.

‘The Married Man’ is the latest psychological thriller by author KL. Slater. The story centres around Liv who is haunted by the sudden and mysterious disappearance of her husband Rich. Eleven years ago, Rich vanished while taking their young son, Maddox, on an innocent kite-flying outing. Maddox was found, but Rich was never seen again. Liv has since suffered years of pain, unanswered questions, and financial struggle, trying to keep herself and Maddox afloat as she grapples with loss and the uncertainty surrounding her husband’s fate. Now, four years after Rich has been officially declared dead, Liv finds herself anxiously awaiting a promised financial windfall and a potential lifeline for her family’s future. Yet, it’s a windfall that others are equally, if not more, determined to get their hands on.

The novel is full of tension and suspense as Liv begins to suspect that those around her have their own agendas regarding the money she’s been waiting for. The twists and turns keep you guessing and the tension builds leaving you wondering who can be trusted. Well paced and good solid characters make this an entertaining read.

Firstly I love this authors books after discovering them over 2 years ago thanks to netgalley but this one unfortunately isn't one of my favourites. I did still enjoy it overall but I found it a bit slow and hard to get into compared to previous books. This book still had some twists in it and after while I got stuck into it , I gave this 3.5 stars but rounded up to 4 for this review. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for this arc.

I was highly excited for this one, but unfortunately it did not work for me. I did not find myself engaged in the read, I found myself confused and hard to understand. The plot is highly complicated and for me it just was not fun to follow. I could not continue. I had to DNF this one.

This was a really good twists, turns, secrets, lies and betrayal kind of book. It immediately gets you sucked in from the start and I wasn’t able to put it down because I needed to know what was happening. Very very good.

Really enjoyed this book. Several different POV running through the story, with some good twists towards the end.

A satisfying end for one character however I would have liked to have known the "outcomes" for some of the other characters as well.

Would definitely read more from this author in future.

Thank you NetGalley and publishers for the e-ARC. This is my honest review.
This one was a gripping story of a single mother and her son; it consists of many characters, who each hold their own secrets. I thought I had it figured out but that was not the case with this book. I enjoyed the plot twists which were believable yet shocking. A bit sad at times, but overall a truly thrilling tale and neatly tied together with a pretty bow at the end.
