I really enjoyed reading these stories! The idea of a society that has the ability to modify humanity, and that those that are Priors are held above those who aren't who are Imperfects, is scarily plausible, and I really enjoyed this romance between Davis and Cole!
I was apprehensive of the relationship in Rival. After all, it's not with the main guy mentioned in the synopsis of the first book. So either things went wrong because of what her rival was doing, or he wasn't as good a guy as she thought, and I was anxious about which one it was!
The first half of Feuds was mainly Davis and Cole, and their relationship. It's very much a Romeo and Juliet sort of situation, but instead of families, it's sides of whether or not you've been genetically enhanced. And they don't know who the other is at first, and when they find out, that was a pretty dramatic time for them!
The second half was more the epidemic, and how they were dealing with it, since Davis's friends are dying, and there's a good chance that she could, too. And oh, that ending was fantastic, and I need to know what's going to happen next!
I had a great time reading these, and I need to read the conclusion to the series!
Feuds by Avery Hastings is book 1 in the Feuds series. It is a young adult dystopian novel. At this point I have lost count of the amount of dystopian YAs I've read. I find it very hard to come across anything new or original in the genre and that's the issue I ended up having with Feuds. It is a perfectly fine book, it just does nothing that I haven't seen before. The plot isn't that strong primarily because the insta love romance sucks all the life out of it. Davis is a dull protagonist and borders on annoying for a lot of the novel. Cole is a pile of nothing. There is literally nothing interesting about him. With so many other YA books of this genre out there this book gets lost in the pack. It wasn't for me.
I DFNd the book. I don't think this one's for me but I'm positive that others enjoyed it. Just that, dull moments were too much to handle.
Thank You for the opportunity to review this book. Sorry, I attempted to read this book. However, I couldn't get in to it. So, I was unable to finish reading and reviewing it.
Feuds was an enjoyable but kind of predictable dystopian book, though there were some twists that were pretty good, I thought. I think I would've liked the book a bit more if it wasn't for the insta-love. I thought the relationship between Davis and Cole could've been done better because everything went so fast. And there were kisses. Lots of kisses. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Aside from the romance that wasn't really the best for me, I did like this book. I thought for a dystopian book it was pretty original because let's be honest, there are so many books in this genre so you've got to be pretty good to come up with new dystopian societies.
I loved the fact that this book had two different points of view. I loooove different povs, okay? Many don't but I do. Especially guy povs. Cole was my favorite because Davis sometimes kind of annoyed me. I liked her but I felt like she needed to get her priorities straight, which in the end she did.
I liked the concept of the mysterious Narxis disease and how only Priors get it. It gave the book a little something extra to focus on. And like I said before there are some unexpected twists. Nothing too big, in my opinion but unexpected enough to give me pause.
Feuds by Avery Hastings was likable. I didn't love it because I had wanted a little more character and world-building. But overall it was pretty enjoyable and a fast read. And I definitely want to read the next book because the ending was unexpected. Cliffhanger, people!
