So this book was nothing like I have read before but I loved it! A story of 2 serial killers who finally need to settle down due to the birth of their daughter but it leaves their marriage a bit lacking. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is I felt it was a bit confusing at times although it all came together at the end. Really fun read!

This book was really quite fun, especially for a true-crime-podcast-loving gal like myself. The pacing was very good and the reveals took me by surprise. I would strongly recommend it for anyone looking for some lighthearted suspense, and more reasons to hate rich men.

A serial killer couple? Yes please! I loved this book. It was a super fun read and I had no idea what would unfold once the baby was born. I definitely recommend.

A quick-paced read that grabs you from word one. I would have given it 5 stars but the ending was too far fetched and it dragged on a bit.

Fast-paced read that has you easily hooked from the beginning. I will admit some of the plot was very repetitive, and at points I was like, "Get on with the point already." I still enjoyed this book, and the ending was worth it. I liked how the author addressed marriage and motherhood while also making this book feel like a thriller movie. It gave Dexter and Mr. & Mrs. Smith crossover vibes to me.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for providing a free e-arc of this book.

The premise of this book sounded very interesting, like it would be a fun time. However, once an author starts placing in their political views throughout a book with gross generalizations on gender, race, and jobs it turns my mind off completely from the book and makes you wonder, is the author ok? I read books to escape people's perceived perception of reality, but I digress.

Throughout the book we have the main characters who are married, serial killers, and seeming to have marital issues (mainly due to lack of communication in the marriage) which the mfc thinks that her marriage has lost it's luster as they are now living a normal, cookie cutter, boring, privegaled life with a child and without murders. The characters are very morally grey trying to justify murders by only attacking people who have wronged women in some way, which sounds great until things go wrong, disrupting the life they've developed.

The main characters are very dull, and the story was drawn out for what little it provided. There's drama in relationships/family dynamics done right, and then there's ones done wrong, which this book fell into the latter. The ending was also very over the top, which did not provide a satisfying conclusion. I really wanted to DNF the book about 40% through it, but I stuck with it, and unfortunately, it ended up being disappointing.

I would place this book in the dark rom com romance category ; meaning it has some dark elements but with a humorous spin. Fox and Haze love story definitely pulls you in .Two serial killers quitting to live a quiet life in the Suburbs , what could be more normal or not. The miscommunication, their love for family and even the plot twists along the way really came together to make an enjoyable and different rom com. It will make you laugh, and keep turning the pages to see what's next. The unexpected ending was fun with the potential to continue the story with more books😉 ( i hope). It explored how key communication is in good relationships, sticking to your core values and wanting better for those you love.

I tried to like this book, i promise i did! I did not like this book.
First, id say that books are my escape and once i start to CONSTANTLY see the author's political views, i'm turned off.
So no i'm not the intended audience for this!

Getting to the book now, it had a good premise but unfortunately it did not deliver. the last 1/3 of the book was so beyond unbelievable.
I just laughed my way to the end of it!

Mr. and Mrs. Smith meets Season 3 of You is probably the best way to describe this book! Hazel and Fox are both serial killers and they love each other. They love the glamorous jet setting life that they lead and really feel like they see each other clearly. When an unplanned pregnancy rocks their world it's goodbye jet setting and murder, hello suburban life and definitely NO murder. Obvi it's not an easy transition even 3 years later. It all comes to a head when Hazel accidentally murders someone breaking their number one rule: Don't kill in your backyard! Now Hazel is trying her best to not just hide her crime from the police, but more importantly from Fox!

I loved this book so much! It's dual pov in alternate chapters as well as jumping from the past to the present so you're able to get the full picture of who these people are. The side characters are engaging. And the relationship between Fox and Hazel is definitely a whirlwind of what I imagine marriage is after a big change and the couple growing together to find their joy again. Highly recommend this book.

Hazel and Fox live in London. They have a child together and now instead of an exciting life of travel, and excitement, they do what they must to seem Normal.

Hazel is pining for her old life. She misses it terribly and Fox is just trying to hold them together.

You see, their old life was killing bad men. Not much thrill in this new life.

This was just hilarious. I love Hazel and the story was a one day all the way through read.

Fast paced read that keeps the reader intrigued until the end. Hazel and Fox were characters that I grew to like more with every turn of the page. they are not your typical household.

I really enjoyed this book. I read the whole thing on a flight. I liked the back and forth chapters and while I didn't love the serial killing descriptions, I appreciate why they did it. It was fun and quick and I highly recommend it!

This is my favorite book of the year! I never thought I would be cheering for a serial killer but Haze is such a fun character! And her relationship with hubby Fox is so interesting. I like the notes at the end of the chapters where we get a positive message about marriage and then Hazel’s viewpoints. Such fun. This would make a great movie! I’m watching this author.

Hazel and Fox are a husband and wife serial killer team, taking delight in ridding the world of whom they deem as bad men. And after Hazel gets pregnant, Fox convinces Hazel that they need to give up that lifestyle for the sake of their newborn. But Hazel misses the thrill of the kill, and when she murders a man in self defense and hides it from Fox, she puts both their freedom (and their marriage) in peril. A Serial Killer’s Guide To Murder has an unlikely duo as killers, which has served them well as they evade detection. But the blandness of everyday life is taking a toll on their marriage, and Hazel takes unnecessary risks seeking a spark. This theme is repeated throughout the book, and their constant inner musings about the state of their marriage drags the plot, but it definitively picks up steam when their old hobby comes back into play. And when that occurs it’s an entertaining read, and the unexpected ending definitely saves the show and boosts the rating. Recommended, 3.5 stars. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a dark story of a husband and wife serial killer team. Since having a baby they have vowed off killing (or have they?) so that they can lead a "normal" life for their daughter and be a family but they soon find themselves fed up not only with the mundane day to day of life but with each other.

I thought this book was a really fun read and was entertained by all of the secrets they were each keeping from each other and wondering how this story would end up. I wasn't sure how I would like this with the whole baby aspect and slice of life but I ended up really engaged and finishing this one pretty quickly.

A fun read that was oddly compelling and stresses the importance of communication in a marriage. A nice beach read for those that prefer some darkness in their rom coms.

This was an okay read. Haze wasn't the most likable character and certain parts of this books were rather stale. I would not recommend this to anyone as the storyline is rather dull and forgettable. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Random House/Ballantine and NetGalley for the ARC of A Serial Killer’s Guide to Marriage by Asia Mackay. I thoroughly enjoyed this dark, satirical take on marriage told through the lenses of two serial killers. They have a passionate connection, and work well as a team (of murderers) and then are suddenly forced into retirement in order to protect themselves and their family. While it shared themes of the movies Mr. and Mrs. Smith and True Lies, I feel like it went deeper than that if you were open to it. Often times, marriages that start out strong stagnate due to circumstances as people change as they age, have kids, grow apart rather than together, keep secrets, etc. And, being a mom and balancing it with work or giving up your career completely can be incredibly tough especially because one loves their child so much. A Serial Killer’s Guide tells those stories too which makes it almost wholesome, if it wasn’t for the murders . . .

I would love to see this as a miniseries on HBO or Netflix. The characters of Haze and Fox seemed to be complete opposites and it didn't make sense how they would end up together. As the story evolved, it became clearer. Haze had a great voice that roared with fury and I loved the angle of her using evidence in her artworks. Fox was the quiet New England elite type who was more calculating than he let on. Add the adorable daughter Bibi and you have a formula for miscommunication galore. Jenny had the best story arc. The pacing at times was slowed down by the fighting and lack of actual conversation, but the climax tied it all together in a nice (albeit bloody) bow.
