Want encourage your child to be kind to others? Well follow Kiki as she starts off her week by being unkind to those around her. She tries all kinds of ways to spoil everybody else is fun. She even eats beans to toot and scare away the boys. She would laugh at kids and hide their toys. No one wanted to play with her because of the unkind things she did. Then a little squirrel decides to step in and teach her about being kind. This is the turning Point in Kiki‘s week, she finally learned to be kind and leaves all her troubles behind.
There’s also a page that shares several different examples of what children can do to show acts of kindness. The graphics are colorful and simple, not to busy, enough to keep a child’s attention. There’s also a place on the last page of the book where you can help your child to think of and write down more acts of kindness that they can do.
Cheeky Kiki Learns to be Kind was a super cute and helpful read that I enjoyed sharing with my niece and nephew. I loved the lessons taught by the squirrel. I always feel including animals in children's books helps kids get more excited about the story.
This book also encourages kids to engage with the story by adding their own ideas on how to be kind.
This was an all around good story with adorable illustrations that I think all children can enjoy.
I found the book to be delightful as it echoed the not-so-kind behaviors of Kiki, similar to the "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed" series. It held my 6-year-old's interest, and we appreciated Kiki's opportunity for self-improvement. The concise storytelling was a plus.
