I was hooked from the cover and so glad I was able to read this, it had that fantastical world in a way that I was hoping for. The characters felt like they were supposed to and worked with this world overall. I thought the way Nathan C. Ashford wrote this worked overall and left me wanting to read more in this world and from Nathan C. Ashford. It uses the war element perfectly.
