I was enthralled with this book from the start, couldn't put it down and didn't want to stop reading it until I hit the last page and then wanted more. The characters and the story were well developed and the story left me wanting more and more. I loved the detail and the premise of the story and how the characters had to battle to survive.

This first book in The Strain series is somewhat horrific in the sense that it doesn't seem very far-fetched! The Strain introduces a terrifying pandemic in the world that results in more than just a little curse would do. This book puts an interesting spin on how vampires are portrayed in comics! Be warned that it is a gruesome story and that there is violence. It needs to be read by mature readers. I would recommend it to those readers who like The Walking Dead. I would continue this series with book two, but I like to have some time between reading the books in this series since these stories are quite intense!

This is a graphic (comic) adaptation of the bestselling Strain trilogy of novels by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. The art is amazing and the adaptation follows the novels closely. A rewarding read for horror fans, this is an epic vampire story. Don't miss it!

I've read the original book that this is based on and, despite it being way out of my normal genre, I really enjoyed it. This graphic version is an excellent adaptation of the original, obviously it's not as detailed as the novel but the illustrations add a little creepy extra. Recommended.
