The worldbuilding and storyline here are really engaging! The plot keeps you interested as it develops, and it's much more than just a straightforward revenge story. It's nicely written, has a quick tempo, and uses descriptive language that keeps a reader immersed with the story.

Unfortunately I had to put this book down at the 30% mark as I was really struggling to stay engaged. The opening idea of a school under attack was interesting, however it stretched out for a long time and we did not find out enough about the characters for me to care about their wellbeing. The pacing was odd - at some points fast but overall quite slow, and it felt like all the action was quite repetitive. The main characters we were following also felt inconsistent - how can a student and an adult who mentions that they haven’t fought in years take down so many people? Overall this had promise but felt like it needed another draft to tighten it all up.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review!

This was a well written book! It was hard to keep reading at slow times of the book, so I would like it if it had a better pace overall. I did like the writing style other than that, and I enjoyed the way the characters were written and how they evolved throughout they story. I think the premise was also super interesting and had me intrigued from the start!

Thank you to NetGalley, the publishers, and especially the author for this ARC in exchange for my honest review of the book!!

I was invested in what was happening in this universe, it had that overall feel that I was expecting based on the world and description. The characters were everything that I was looking for and that it had that element that I wanted from them. Charles Carfagno Jr. wrote this in a way that kept the reader going through and glad it was so well written.
