I had been meaning to read this book for a long time and I'm glad I finally did! I really enjoyed this unique concept and it was something I hadn't really read before. It was an interesting take on the parallel universe/alt universe without being something that was newly discovered or outside of the character's norm. I liked that it dealt with Sabine living two lives but that she always had and the book portion of her story was about her finally telling someone about it and the people who came to shape her two lives.

ONE PAST MIDNIGHT was SUCH a quick read! I easily finished it in two weekend morning reading sessions which were no more than two hours each. The constant switching back and forth between two lives meant essentially two smaller plots with one large plot so things were constantly moving forward and each break from the previous life was kind of like its own little cliffhanger -- I just didn't want to stop reading because I needed to know what happened where Sabine left off in her other life! I thought the pacing was great and each part of the story was interesting. She has challenges in both of her lives that make neither one the ideal life, essentially.

I liked the ending but I also didn't love the ending. It was surprising and jarring and yet also felt satisfactory. It kind of felt like a good way to leave things in the end because we know that life isn't perfect and people don't really get fairy tale endings like they do in some stories, so it felt realistic enough to leave it as it was but still a little wistful and hopeful.

Unique and interesting plot premise. I liked the idea of a girl living two lives literaly not that she was a high school student by day and a spy by night but for real two lives. A little predictable at the end but still overall pretty dang good.
