This was fine. A decent listen. Total fall vibes if that is what you are looking for. A nice little ditty that entertained. I wanted to like it more but I couldn't get into the audio as much as I wanted to. Perhaps if I had read it with my eyes first?
Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Spoiler: Cute, autumn vibes, but just like the main character, it lost its spark.
This was part of a series, but could be read as a standalone too. I personally read it as a standalone, and I felt like I was missing some world-building details, for example how was a kitchen witch different from a regular witch? Was it just because her magic helped her cook better and feel the finer ingredients? Is it a regular kitchen witch or is it different in this universe? I could have used a bit more information, especially as someone who's never read about a kitchen with before.
But then again, this was not a high fantasy. It was a cute story about two people falling in love. I would have loved a bit more comedy in the book, some witty banter. Instead, I felt like they fell for each other from the start, just refused to talk about their feelings. There were a lot of outside issues keeping them apart, most of which could have been solved with a conversation. Still, it got me in a nice and cosy mood. It was filled with everything I love about autumn: pumpkins, great food and fairs. There was good plus-size representation, and I loved how confident Serena, the main character, was.
What I did not understand was this: why was so much of the plot focused on Gus' ex's wedding? I get that they were reality TV show stars, but that amount of pressure for Gus to attend the wedding and remain who he's always been was insane. I was glad his family accepted him in the end.
The narrators did a good job and they portrayed the characters well. I did, however, feel like I had to speed it up, especially during his perspective.
Overall, it was cute, cosy and a nice read for autumn.
Deja Brew is book #3 in the Elemental Love series, but can be read as a standalone book. I have not read the other books in the series.
This book is about Sirena, a chef who also happens to be a witch. She is having a horrible month and makes a wish to fix her life. Her wish leads her to repeat the whole month and to meeting Gus, a magician. Gus is working on rebuilding his reputation, which is why he moved to town. Sirena learns Gus can help her fix her magic and makes a deal with him. Gus will help her if she will decipher a magical cookbook for him.
I listened to the audiobook version of the book, which I enjoyed. I liked that there were two separate narrators. I did have to speed it up though because it was just too slow for me.
I jumped in with this after reading reviews that you could read as a stand alone. Knowing it likely followed the typical romance series where it's nice to hear about your favorite side characters, I could guess the main characters of previous stories. I still feel this can be enjoyed as a stand alone. Second chance romance trope. After a wish gone wrong, a Groundhog's Day style story takes place but Sirena is repeating the month of October. She works together with Gus to get her magic back. This was cute, cozy, just okay for me !
I loved this books!!! It was the perfect combination of spooky and whimsical and a sweet story. I loved it and loved having the opportunity to listen to it!!

Deja Brew

This was a cute spellbinding rom com that will touch your soul this autumn season. Will two witches get a second chance at romance when a spell leaves them repeating the pumpkin spice month of October again. Will Sirena be able to redo the messiest month of her life or will things turn out to be the same result. Will Gus be able to heal his broken heart or will his feelings for Sirena make him weak in the kneels again?
I loved the world building and the concept for this one. The food made me want to be in the kitchen cooking up my own Autumn favourites like butternut squash soup and pumpkin cookies. I wish that I could connect with both of the main characters a little more, I just didn’t find myself wanting to know what happened to them. Overall, it was a pretty cute rom com that was well written.
Romance: ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Spice level: 🌶️🌶️

3.5 Stars
I thought that this would be a cute read for the fall. It did take me longer than I had wanted to read it, I think because I mostly did it on audiobook and haven’t had too much time for listening.
It was a sweet read about a kitchen witch who made a wish and a famous magician who’s trying to get over his ex. There were some spicy moments for sure. I just couldn’t connect with these characters for whatever reason.
I did like that the audiobook had both characters voiced by different narrators. I’d still recommend this to other readers.
Thank you to Netgalley, Hachette Audio and Forever Publishing for the copies to read and review.
The title alone drew me in immediately, as did the cover. I really really wanted to love this book and I will go away and try reading it as I had issues with the narrator. I am sure it is just me and doesn't apply to anyone else, but the narrator sounded artificial, without the human emphasis I usually hear. I do not mean to disrespect anyone and am sure it just caught me on the wrong day and will try again, however it sadly just didn't work for me this time. I am so sorry.
A feel good enchanting read perfect for the Fall Season! The romance is so stinking sweet in this book!! The main female character is so relatable and that is one of my favorite things about the book.
Cozy, characters struggles with who they are, both takes steps to get out of their respective ruts, both open themselves up to the possibilities and finds more than they realized they were missing. Cute, seasonally timed book that was a fun and easy read. Felt like a magical version of a Hallmark movie and that just added to the fun of the book.
Personally, I am not interested in books that contain spice - so this book had several sections that I skipped past. It did nothing to help with the story and I don't feel like I missed anything that altered the plot of the story or the made it more challenging to understand the characters. If it had been left out the story would have been just as cozy and cute and fun. So that is why the lowered stars.
After reading the premise, I was excited about Deja Brew. I tried to give it multiple chances, but I couldn't get into it. I know others will enjoy it, but it wasn't for me. I will not be reviewing this on my bookstragram page because of the lower rating.
I absolutely adored Sirena and her story! I always find the "Groundhog Day" concept to be so interesting and for this book to have a full month revisit, I couldn't wait to see how it played out. I enjoyed seeing the sisters show up for each other and watching their side stories continue on the pages, however with that said, this story can be a standalone story as Sirena and Gus have their own unique story. Thank you to Forever Pub for an advanced audio copy! The narration was so fitting for this story and kept me fully engaged! All thoughts and opinions are my own!
This book delivered on the fall vibes. I liked the time loop aspect of the book (I feel like we don't see this a lot in romance), and I really felt for Sirena throughout the book as she tries to get to the root of the problem and get herself out of the time loop. If you're looking for a cozy, low angst fall read, this is one to check out.
Well, this was a cute read. Not what I was expecting (I didn’t know this was a cosy fantasy Romance), but once I got past the very info-dumpy first chapter, it became a fun, cute read. Perfect for autumn romance readers, but not my typical read (but I like to try new authors and genres).
The audiobook only made this better. ALL THE STARS. ALL THE STARS.
Deja Brew by Celestine Martin is a whimsical, second-chance romance novel that combines magic and love with a touch of culinary charm. It is a must-buy for fans of witchy rom-coms like Payback’s a Witch and The Ex Hex. The book creates an inviting, autumnal atmosphere with humor, heart, and delightful magical mishaps. Readers will enjoy this lighthearted, fun read filled with enchantment, featuring a time loop that repeats the month of October. Celestine has really outdone herself with this one.
Tropes:
-Friends to Lovers
-Witchy Romance
-Second Chance
-Time loop
-Elemental Love #3
Sirena Caraway makes a wish to fix her life - and then wakes up in an unexpected Groundhog Day-esque repeat of October. Something new with her October redo? Working with Gus Dearworth, magician and new to town historian.
I found Sirena and Gus’ story swoonworthy and engaging. They both needed to find something within themselves during the October redo, and it was so enjoyable to read. The audiobook was also great, thanks to superb narration by Marissa Hampton & Christopher Hampton. I highly recommend this sweet and spicy romcom!
I received an advanced reading copy, receipt of which did not impact my review.
This was a cute cosy romance filled with magic and tender moments . I loved the narrators who really bought the characters to life.
I unfortunately didn't really find myself invested in the relationship or the characters which is a shame .
I haven't read any from the series so maybe this stopped me connecting as much.
This was a magical fall read! All the October vibes with the town fair, fallen leaves and cider.
Sirena being a kitchen witch, and a struggling one at that, was fun. Liked the soul mate aspect with Gus but wish that had been more consistent throughout. Their chemistry was good and I was rooting for them.
Overall a light cozy read! Snuggle up with a warm beverage and enjoy!
Thanks to NetGalley & Hachette Audio for an ALC.
Is it even Fall if you do not read a Celestine Martin book? Martin's books have quickly become my spooky season staple. I love this witchy family and love that the author is a fellow Jersey Girl. I enjoyed the plot, the dual POV, the banter and as always the humor that I have come to expect with a Celestine Martin book. Keep them coming!

This didn’t work for me. It felt weird the whole way around. They didn’t seem interested in each other at all. Frankly, I was bored. DNF at 42%
