This was a fun, second chance.

It had a lot going on, but it had all the right pieces for success. And I think that's my biggest gripe, is that it had a lot of life going on for this girl, and I wanted her to suffer less. Maybe I enjoy a fluffier read, but there was a lot going on, and there were no trigger warnings to let me know what was coming.

Otherwise, it had all the things I needed for a successful romance. The narrators did an amazing job making the characters come to life.

Thank you to Black Odyssey, RB Media, and Netgalley for an e-copy.

Anna Black’s Love Delayed is an emotional rollercoaster packed with drama, heartbreak, and a healthy dose of second chances. From the first page, I was pulled into Zamora and Marcus’s world, feeling every ounce of tension and unresolved emotion between them.
Zamora’s journey from heartbreak to success is inspiring, and her determination to pursue her dreams—even at the cost of love—makes her a relatable and admirable character. On the other hand, Marcus is a complicated blend of pride and vulnerability. Watching him wrestle with his decisions and their impact on his life and relationships was frustrating and captivating.
The setting adds a vibrant backdrop, particularly their chance reunion in Las Vegas. The delayed flight and their night of reconnecting felt serendipitous and perfectly set the stage for their rekindled feelings. Their chemistry is undeniable, and their dialogue crackles with unresolved tension and longing.
The drama made this book stand out for me—it’s intense and sometimes messy, but it felt authentic. Both characters make mistakes, but their growth and willingness to confront the past make the story rewarding.
If you enjoy tales of love lost and found, sprinkled with emotional upheaval and a touch of glamour, Love Delayed is well worth the read. It’s a dramatic and heartfelt story that keeps you hooked until the last page.

Zamora taking off to pursue her dreams was cool but she didn’t see anything wrong with including Marcus in her plans until the last minute. Marcus laughing her off in the beginning left me feeling some kind of way as well. The timeline threw me off throughout the book. I found it hard to enjoy and connect with characters because of how the time jumps. With all that being said, this second chance romance had the potential to be one of those soul stirring reads that have you rooting for the couple. Although it was not a favorite for me I will still read more from this author.

I enjoyed reading this book so much! This was a new to me author and the author didn't disappoint me at all. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. This book was giving everything that I was looking for in a book. I couldn't put my kindle down until I finished reading this book. I would definitely recommend and read another book by this author.

In life when one wants to live their dream, they must realize that sacrifices must be made.

Zamora Hill has always dreamed of being a chef and once she gets the opportunity to realize her dream, she never expects her boyfriend to end their relationship. Marcus Coleman believes in family, loyalty and loves hard. He inherits the family hotel business and found the love of his life in Zamora. Imagine life is going great and Zamora makes a decision without consulting him. Upset and bruised ego, Marcus ends the relationship and Zamora takes off for culinary school. Fast forward ten years have gone by, and fate lands Zamora and Marcus on the same flight home, and the flight gets delayed and then cancelled. As they reacquaint themselves, feelings that were dormant arise. Can Zamora and Marcus get their second-chance to rekindle their love?

This was my first read by Anna Black and I really enjoyed this second chance love story. Although ego and pride allowed Marcus to make rash decision and break up with Zamora, Zamora was portrayed as a woman who was very independent and did not shy away from proactively going after her dream. Lack of communication with this couple caused them to go ten years, and failed relationships before fate brought them to the same city and then on the same cancelled flight. As they catch-up, they both realize they were still in love. However, there are challenges and obstacles in their path as both can’t immediately rekindle their relationship.

Ms. Black did great with character development as well as crafting a storyline of love lost and fate allowing that love to blossom. I did feel Marcus was blinded to some events but eventually saw the light. There are several secondary characters, readers will immediately distrust and with good reason. I truly enjoyed reading Zamora and Marcus’ journey.

Thanks to NetGalley and Black Odyssey Media did this read. This was well writing but I didn’t enjoy this book as I thought I would. It seems a bit flacky. I really don’t know how to describe it. I know the other has other great books but this one was not for me.

I liked the 2 POV but found the timeline annoying. To go back to a small encounter just to say the other character thoughts seemed repetitive and unneccesary.

This book was all over the damn place. I thought I was about to get a cute second chance romance story but that is not what this was at all. Everybody was cheating on everybody, people lying about whole families, and got people claiming kids that weren’t even theirs just for the hell of it. I had to go back and see what I was reading cause I thought this was a hood urban fiction book at one point. And then when the MFC said she was 2 weeks pregnant I almost threw my damn kindle. Cause wtf you mean 2 weeks pregnant, author definitely did not do their research. And that epilogue timeline was long af. How you put 2 years in one epilogue?! This book wasn’t it at all.

Why? Why does the female lead ALWAYS have to deal with infidelity in her marriage? That part alone told me this book wouldn't be for me. I know it's a second-chance romance, and I wish I could have finished it, but for my mental health, I'm going to pass. The premise of the story is why I gave it 3 ☆.

This was a good book! The storyline was interesting and the characters were well written but I was not a huge fan of the romance.

I am one that believes in the second chance at love stories. This was a great second chance at love story. I have several of this authors books on my TBR list; after reading this one, I can not wait to get started on them. Anna Black's writing style in this book wasn't over complicated, and did not drag the story out.

This just wasn’t it. The story was repetitive and dragged. The timeline was all over the place and it didn’t always add up. The description of this book is off. This was not a cute 2nd chance romance, so feel a bit cheated.

When I read the premise for this book it sounded interesting but it didn't quite deliver the way I hoped it would. While we did get an HEA with the main characters by the end, I felt it didn't really flow that well. In the beginning of the book I felt like I could have used more of a timeline between when Zamora left to pursue her culinary degree to when Marcus hears about them again, like he said it had been ten years but it was a super long time jump and the fact that we didn't know what happened with her over those past 10 years at the point it felt a little out of place.

We do find out what happened with Zamora and her life during that 10 year period where she had been away from Marcus but it was a little disjointed and I felt if the order in which things were written was different it would have flowed a little better for me. The fact that Marcus supposedly moved on but was so easily swayed once Zamora returned it was a little too easy too and I thought he should have broken things off with Eliana at that point knowing how he truly felt for Zamora.

Of course I wanted Zamora and Marcus to get their second chance so when we find out Eliana's true motives and Marcus breaks up with her I was happy about that but his mother's involvement came out of left field as it wasn't mentioned anyway else in the story so it made it a little less believable. Once Zamora and Marcus finally do get back together the story seemed to move super fast and some details that I would have liked to see more of were kind of glossed over. and Eliana's reappearance at the end served no purpose. When i got to the epilogue I felt like that could have been broken up into another chapter and everything seemed to be just thrown together and a but rushed like the author was just ready to finish writing the book.

Overall it was an okay story but I think if the author took different writing liberties it could have made it better in my opinion. Thank you to NetGalley and Black Odyssey Media for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This just wasn’t it. The story was repetitive and dragged. The timeline was all over the place and it didn’t always add up. The description of this book is off. This was not a cute 2nd chance romance.

Every red flag was ignored by both MC’s to the point where they both deserved to get played by their significant others. It was hard to connect to the characters because I felt they had no depth. There was just too many side story lines that brought absolutely no value to the book.

This book blurb promised “A second-chance love connection for book romantics,” and while it kind of delivered, I had to overlook about 90% of the actual story. The narrative was filled with messy drama that overshadowed the romantic plot, and the ending didn’t satisfy enough to make up for the meandering journey. I was left disappointed.

I am also including a content warning for sexual violence in this review.

This review may contain spoilers!

I may have misunderstood the blurb. Going in, I was under the impression that Marcus and Zamora reconnected and reignited their spark on the day of their delayed flight recollecting the past "together" and talking things through all on the same day.

That is not how it went down. Although classified as romance, I honestly didn't feel much of the romance or chemistry, some yearning and regret.
There were some flashback scenes. But most of the book was about how Zamora gets out of a marriage with a cheating spouse and Marcus realizes he's still hooked on the thought of Zamora, but he's recently engaged to Eliana. We are given Marcus' and Zamora's POV's and suddenly out of no-where get Eliaina's POV (His fiancee) . Turns out she's just in it for the money. Not to give too much away I'll stop here.

This was an nice read, for the drama 3.6 stars. But as a romance 3 stars.

Thank you to Netgalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to read and review my first Anna Black book and share my thoughts.
