If the Crown Fits by Leane Giliomee was a book I happened across and it grabbed my interest due to the summary. I love a fantasy that includes thieves and political games.

In this book, our fmc, Lara, is the thief and she's been put in a situation where she never really had a choice. Tasked with stealing an engagement necklace from the royal family which she finds out was actually a test, she finds herself in a situation where she has to make a choice. She can pretend to be the royal prince's sister who is betrothed to Cai, the future king of Norrandale, so that she can steal a family heirloom he has of the royal family's or she can hang for treason (for stealing from the royal family). I know, there's a lot to unpack there but weirdly, the way the story is set up, it is something they appear to be able to pull off.

Enter the mmc, Cai. As I mentioned, he is the future king of the neighboring realm and on his way to meet with the Prince's sister at their summer manor. The reason they can potentially pull of having Lara meet him in her place is that they have never actually met. The intention is to have them meet up there and have Lara steal back this heirloom while they are together. The problem is, the Prince doesn't know what it is.

As you can imagine, this doesn't really sound like a well thought out plan. On top of all of what I mentioned, there are a number of other things at play here. Lara's background, Cai's secrets, the prince's secrets...there's a lot going on. Overall, I thought this was a solid book one and I can't say a lot about the details as I don't want to give anything away as there are a few twists and turns here that will keep you turning the pages. If you're looking for a new Fantasy to pick up that has plenty of action, political games, and some romance, consider picking this one up. I'll be looking for the next book in this series when it is released.

The story centers around an infamous thief who, after being betrayed and captured by the royal prince, is unexpectedly recruited for a personal mission against a rival kingdom.

This was a great short, easy read that I could not put down!

It's really fast paced. Perhaps some parts could have benefited from being slowed down or given a little more detail but it didn't ruin the story for me.

I felt that the characters were really well developed. The romance between the MCs is a particularly slow burn but so well written! I love the banter between them!

The twist at the end was a little predictable but worked really well. I'm excited to see where this leads in the next book!

Big thanks to Netgalley and Leane for the eARC. I really enjoyed this! This book just left me wanting more. It wasn’t too heavy on the background detail which was quite refreshing.

It’s left open to a series and it does leave you wanting more. But I can see why others are giving this consistently 4 stars. It’s fast paced and easy to read, sometimes feeling a little rushed but I’m looking forward to seeing where this series goes.

Rule 1 Don't trust anyone
Rule 2 Don't get caught
Rule 3 Never break rules 1 & 2

I really enjoyed this book and flew through it.
I liked Lara and found Cai likeable they were a good match. I felt there were unanswered questions and hope these will be answered in book 2.
I will certainly read it. The story read like a fairytale Lara was a thief with a conscience a female Robin Hood.
But I have to ask where is Ray and what happened to Eloise????
Hopefully answers will be in the next book.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley.

Big thanks to Netgalley and Leane for the eARC in exchange for a review.

This story fits right into the new romantasy genre with a clean and sweet cast of characters.
There's a huge issue with women writers, sexism, and the YA category, but this book fits right into YA.

I'm giving it 4 stars.
The ending was so anticlimactic and yes, it is left open for the next book in the series, but there could have been tears, a longing goodbye, something other than ... that.
A better ending would give it 5.

A really good book that was hard to put down! It left me wanting more as it moved so quickly however it felt like it could have done with a bit more detail/background. I saw the twist coming, and would say its more of an adventure book than fantasy but still really enjoyed it overall.

Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books for a copy of this ARC!

If the crown fits is a fast paced, fun read. It's on the shorter side so a great little read when you're in the mood for something lighter. I quite liked the MC's but at times I found the dialogue didn't flow realistically and this slowed down the story a bit for me. This is the first in a trilogy and I'd like to see where the story goes. This had a Robin Hood feel to it with the roles reversed. Fun, exciting and a lovely little palette cleanser.
Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publishers for an arc in return for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books for a copy of this ARC!⁣

This was such a fun read! Right from the get go you’re thrown into the action & it does not let up & nor do you want it to! ⁣

It’s very fast paced, easy to read & captivating, but at times this strength means that some moments feel slightly rushed, or parts feel like they’ve jumped over some key background or context. I also thought that towards the ending things felt a little bit too convenient (I’m looking at the uncle & Rhen here). This said, I don’t think the speed detracted from the overall story, it just would have been nice to have had a little bit more time spent on some aspects, that’s all! ⁣

The two main characters were well-developed & I really enjoyed getting to know them through their own separate POVs, there are also some good side characters as well as some great twist & turns in the plot that kept it entertaining & gripping! ⁣

I also liked that the ending was one that you can either stop at, or, as I hope will be the case, continue with a second book! ⁣

I’m really looking forward to see how the story & romance will progress in book 2 as this has been easily one of my favourite reads of the year & I can’t wait for the next!

Full of adventure and angst, this 304-page romantasy is perfect for picking up when you don't want a chunkier read. Lara is a little firecracker, an adorable thief turned princess whose fiesty soul will have you gobbling up these pages. Cai's smooth manner is oh so appealing; the author has written both main characters, not to mention a whole band of extras, with wit and a huge sense of adventure. This first book in The Twisted Crown Trilogy leaves you excited and hungry for more!

A fun historical fantasy filled with secrets betrayals and bandits.

Lara is the masked their who is tasked with stealing a priceless necklaces from the corrupt royal family. This is no ordinary job and Lara ends up employed by the Prince to impersonate the kingdoms princess. While in disguise Lara must gain the trust of the rival kingdoms prince, so she can steal a most precious artifact.
Not everything is as it seems and secrets change lives.

This story was a great ride. The characters of Lara and Cai had a real spark. Lance was also well developed and felt exceptionally sinister, his motivations always unclear and I never quite knew if he was mad or not.
I feel the last third of let this book down a little, it was very rushed and large periods of time were skipped over. This book is Alresford relatively short and fleshing out the ending would have been beneficial. These at a few times a character randomised appears to give information (out of nowhere and without explanation). The first being when Cais mother is sick and he decides he must leave, this seems to happen mid battle? How did this information even arrive? The second is Lara bring told her uncle is dead, this also happens without explanation of who killed him just that he is dead (right after a scene he was just in). These just feel very convenient.
That not to say that this wasn't a good book or that I won't be read the next one. It's a complement that readers want more of this world.

If the crown fits is the first book in the twisted crowns trilogy. I really enjoyed this book. I read it in a day, I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry that was forming between the two main characters and the banter between them was just amazing. This book was definitely a SLOW burn. This book very much reminded me of powerless and a court of thorns and roses. The tension was great. I can’t wait to read the next one and see what happens with them in the other two books.

This is book #1 in the Twisted Crown trilogy - a new series by author Leané Giliomee. It is told in alternating chapters between two main characters: Lara & Cai. Lara is like a female Robinhood, stealing from the rich to help the poor. Cai is the prince from the rival kingdom, who is supposed to marry the princess in the Kingdom of Everness. Lara is hired to steal something from the prince, but winds up stealing more than she bargained for - his heart. I really liked the idea of a female Robinhood-esque character. She was so spunky, and you couldn't help but love her. I am interested to see where the series goes from here.

The twisted crowns trilogy 🤗
I really enjoyed this book so much so that I couldn’t put it down.
I really loved the chemistry that was forming between the two main characters and the banter between them but be warned it’s very much a SLOW burn.
I also felt like I was back reading Sarah j mass books.
I can’t wait to see what happens with them in the other two books.

Thank you NetGalley and team for the ARC.

This is a magical book which has a bit of everything from family, politics, romance, a bit of the Robin Hood in there too. The characters really make the story come to life and with the twists and intrigue the story builds well and kept me interested and reading. I like the thought that it is part of a series/trilogy and I look forward to reading the next book in the series (soon I hope).

A great read, fun, entertaining, magical and more.

Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Not bad at all !!! A romantasy book that starts a series of political intrigue, family ramifications with a series of twists, and a forbidden romance between e thief, pretending to be a princess, and a prince. I really enjoyed this book. Lara and Cai’s dynamic reminded me a lot of Lara and Aren from the Bridge Kingdom series only younger and less spicy. The tension was there. The build up was there. Plus, add the fact that she was sent to him, pretending to be his fiancée only to steal from him … loved that. The narrative was flawless and it made it easy for me to read the book in one sitting. The characters are extremely likeable and you fall in line with what is happening to them pretty soon. The author made it also really effortless to get into the story and follow, step by step, what Lara and Cai were thinking and the experiences that they were having. I had a really good time and the last pages definitely left me with a cliffhanger worth the name and a necessity to read more ASAP !!

This is book 1 of what appears to be a trilogy! Lara (the masked bandit) makes her living from stealing from the rich! But when she’s hired to steal from the palace is the offer too good to be true? This is a SLOOWWWW burn! And by that I mean by the end of the book it’s still slowly burning haha!
I enjoyed the ease at which I could read this, it’s an easy read but the storyline is still there and seems to be going at a good pace, in a good direction.

With this one,I was expecting fantasy with a sprinkling of hijinx and high stakes and that’s exactly what I got. I love the bandit medieval vibe that was going on, which was my favorite part of the story. The world setting was really fun and gave me a mix between Robin Hood and King Artur. However, I do think the world building could have been a bit better as I feel like we were kind of thrown into the story head first and had to figure everything out as we read, which isn’t bad just felt a bit rushed. As well as some of the plot points and twists did feel predictable. I do think that this was a me problem and not a writing problem as I’m particularly picky and the author’s writing was great. I never felt bored, in fact, I was engaged throughout the entire book (even during the parts I didn’t like that much) which is attributed to a great writer.

I think if you want a light, fast paced fantasy novel this is the one for you. You won’t be able to put it down and you’ll have fun the whole way through.

👑 Royalty
💎 Hidden Identity / Undercover
👑 Heist
💎 Enemies to Lovers
👑 Arranged Marriage
💎 Bandits

This book is an absolute whirlwind of a story! You have a fast paced adventure, with the slowest of slow burn romances. Hidden identities and scheming royalty where you never quite know who is ‘good’ or ‘bad’. Plus the plot twists, while you can definitely guess the twists and turns they still made for an interesting read!

If the Crown Fits follows Lara, the Masked Bandit who is undercover as a Princess, and her fiancé the Prince of a rival kingdom, Cai. The tension between these two completely hooked me, they are just so witty and stubborn!

This was without a doubt an engaging read! I would have loved for some parts, especially the end, to have a little more detail. Quite a few of the twists were revealed quickly and then brushed over, which didn’t have quite as much impact. Even with this I was hooked, the twists were interesting and the characters lovable. I’m so intrigued to see what happens next in this trilogy!
