An incredibly powerful read on the pretendians issue that is becoming more and more evident in todays society.. The story was not only about two sisters trying to navigate their relationship with their narcissistic mother who stole their identities (and their fathers’), and made a career out of pretending to be a member of a marginalized community, but it was also about acceptance and healing. Learning that moving on isn’t about giving up on receiving closure but caring about yourself more than the person who hurt you. There was generational trauma, healing, and connecting with your community and culture.
