The blurb made this book sound so appealing but in reality it fell short. The characters had so much potential but for me they become increasingly annoying. There were so many repetitive phrases in the book that I almost couldn't finish. Three stars us being generous. It's probably a 2.5.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC.

“My Enemy, My Obsession” had moments that sparkled, but overall, it left me feeling lukewarm. The book promised an enticing “enemies to lovers” journey with a touch of obsession, but ultimately, it fell short of delivering the intense, dark romance hinted at by its title and cover.

Starting with the positives, I found Ethan to be the most endearing part of the story. His kindness and genuine effort to win Sofia over were sweet, and he was a character I wanted to root for. There were a few steamy moments that showcased the author’s strength in writing passion, and I appreciated the way the romantic tension built up initially.

However, the book had several shortcomings that kept me from fully enjoying it. The chemistry between Sofia and Ethan felt forced at times, and their “enemy” dynamic seemed almost non-existent. Sofia’s constant hesitation, coupled with her unfounded distrust of Ethan, made her character difficult to connect with. The story was repetitive, often cycling through Sofia’s internal conflict about whether to pursue her one-night stand with Ethan. This not only slowed the pacing but also made the narrative feel stagnant. I found myself having to force myself to continue reading, and this was very close to being a DNF (did not finish).

The much-anticipated tension between enemies felt more like an awkward misunderstanding, and the romance lacked the intensity that the title suggested. The writing style also contributed to a disjointed experience—some intimate scenes were overly prolonged while others were rushed, failing to strike the right balance in storytelling.

To top it off, the book ends on a cliffhanger, which was frustrating rather than exciting. While I appreciate a good hook for the next book in a series, the ending felt abrupt, and I was left without a sense of closure for the characters.

Overall, “My Enemy, My Obsession” had potential, but it didn’t fully realize its premise. While there were moments I enjoyed—especially Ethan’s character—the pacing issues, the forced chemistry, and the lack of true “enemies to lovers” tension made it an average read for me. I might continue the series out of curiosity, but it isn’t a priority.

Loved reading the wonderfully written story. After Sofia spends an unforgettable night of passion with Ethan, she leaves and doesn't think she will see Ethan again. Read the highly recommended and must read riveting story by the outstanding author, Lisa Renee Jones.

I've read quite a few books by this author and I'm yet to be disappointed, this is only the first book of the series so there is so much more to be developed but the first book has me really interested. Sofia is an amazing fmc she clearly cares about her father and the business and would do anything for him. Ethan was a great male lead and I can't wait to see how he explains himself to Sofia, one thing I know about this author is to always trust that the male will fix things. Like I said there's still so much to happen so I can't say much about the story yet however the first book has me wanting to know more.

Sorry, but I have to start with the fact this is a weird ARC eBook setup! The text background is dark gray with light gray text which was so hard on my eyes. My default font comes out as italics on my Kindle so I had to change the font to try and find one that might work. It made it tough for me to power-read through this one, making me sad.

The book itself was a great read. I really loved the male main character (MMC). He was sweet and kind most of the time, and I loved how they interacted. Let me tell you, this book is steamy throughout most of the story.

The female main character was great as well, until she did the thing I hate the most in the book, she lied and ran. Ugh. I get it. It helped the story flow and developed the fire, passion, and a bit of angst. Jones is great at building that fire and passion, trust me. I have devoured so many of her books.

My Enemy, My Obsession is a great story until the author decided to throw in the ridiculous ending she went with on a cliffhanger, of course.

Regardless, my favorite part of this story is Ethan. He is actually awesome and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series.

Fast paced story that ends with you wanting more, and wondering WTH? Ethan and Sophia are not really enemies in the broad sense of the word. I like both of them but don’t love them. I can see how they will have a very complicated relationship because it already is.
Their chemistry is there from the start and it doesn’t take long for them to get steamy in his hotel room. Things are not exactly what they seem though which becomes clear quickly to both of them. This is a good story that leaves you wanting more.

I’m sorry, I just didn’t like this one. The characters got annoying and things seemed really repetitive throughout the book. I couldn’t get into it and wasn’t invested in the characters.

1 star.

At first, it was okay, until it was not. This book was fine. Is it recommendable? That leaves much to be desired.

The synopsis leads you to believe that there will be many pushes and pulls between the characters, and the angst of a hate-to-love relationship should keep you coming back. Oh boy, I really wished it was such. Unfortunately, it falls flat and lacks the chemistry needed to make it truly engaging. Where were the enemies to lovers?

I noticed the entirety of the book basically tells you the plot. It hardly shows through characters and actions. There was nothing compelling me to continue... Other than the rage of how bad the entire story was. 98% smut, and the remaining 2% of the plot felt empty.

Thank you to the team from NetGalley for providing me with an advance review copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily!

Steamy enemy to one night stand that might be more, but business interferes. The heroine works hard to break into the fashion industry as her father works to expand his brewery business, and it all becomes enmeshed with one powerful man. A few tropes intertwined and a lot of confusion, musings, guessing, and lies. Good for a weekend or vacation for a steamy read.

This book is not what it seems, and unfortunately not in a good way.
While I like them, the title and cover imply some sort of dark romance with possible kinks. There is nothing dark about it, and the spice is mild at best.

So far this is just an average romance novel with a billionaire.. They're not even enemies for more than 2 seconds, and the interest he shows in her seems more like an intense crush than an all consuming obsession..
Really it felt like being let down over and over again.

Their first night is inexpertly drawn out so far, that's it's boring. The next couple of spicy scenes then feel rushed, and the writing really just didn't bring out any feeling from me.
The first time he says "I'm going to fuck you in every possible way you let me fuck you" was cringey but kinda hot, the 18th time he says it made me want to put the book down. Only for them to only have sex once that night.

While I truly understand anxiety, I don't understand her actions. Is there a term for repetitive whiplash? Because that's what I got.

The book as a whole isn't even a story, it's too long to be a novella and too short, especially with all the repetitiveness, to have a fully fledged story. While I do like the basis of the plot, this is really just the first arc of their romance, and could have easily been reduced to be a short and sweet novella. It needs a lot more tIme and work to be a proper romance novel.

This is a page turner and I couldn’t put it down. You have two very strong characters who are determined to get what they want. Sofia is determined to get her fashion line going and help save her dad’s company. Ethan is determined to do whatever it takes to get Sofia to stay with him. Will they both get what they want or will people butting in change their course? I was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

An enjoyable, forbidden-type romance. I haven't read Jones before and now I desire more. The story was entertaining, and it moved fast. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

This book was so delicious and intense, everything I look for in a book! The tension between the two characters was chefs kiss, and for a 200 pages books the author was able to make such a well thought out story which I found very impressive! Also the enemies to lovers actually made sense in this book. I hate when books are enemies to lovers but they have no reason behind it, this one delivered. Any time the fmc and mmc would literally be in the same room together and be giggling. And the ending?!?! I need the next book nowwww
