I loved the print book and I've already started telling people about it, but I was excited to see there's an audiobook read by the author. It was even better than I thought, and I'm going to listen again before the weekend is over.
The content is hilarious, and what a great idea -- things you can say to men to piss them off. There's nothing graphic and the language is pretty clean; instead of using profanity to make a point, Kyle Prue uses simple statements and questions to devastating effect. He also explains how to ask and what kind of tone to use, and even if you never plan on doing it, it's so funny to listen to.
At the end, there's a discussion with his mother. I would have guessed he had a good relationship with his mother, because the author has a lot of self awareness. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me listen to this audiobook

“Who publishes a list of insults!? That’s Virgo shit.”

Kyle Prue’s latest is a hilarious take on dismantling the patriarchy with creativity and wit. If you’ve ever felt frustrated by mansplainers or outdated gender norms, this book offers a fresh arsenal of clever insults to spice up your retorts.

Prue’s comedic approach makes it an entertaining read, transforming what could be mundane quips into laugh-out-loud moments. The audiobook is a special treat, with Prue narrating and even including a Q&A with his mother, adding another layer of fun to this book.

I can’t wait to put all of his recommendations into action against the next annoying mansplainer I encounter.

My bestie and I read it and we both loved it. In fact, we are going to share it with our husbands, we know they’ll love it too! Only the best men will appreciate this humor.

If you’re looking for something to share with friends or just need a good laugh, this book is a must-read!

I was surprised that this book was written, and red, by a man!
I expected a lot of laughter with this book. I smiled a few times but I didn't really get into it.

I'm glad I gave it a try.

Thank you to NetGalley and RBmedia for allowing me a copy of this audio book in return for an honest review.

Based on his successful TikTok page, Kyle lists 109 of his favourite ways to upset men. Additional bonus content for the audiobook includes a Q&A session with his mother.

What I liked: I’ve never heard of Kyle before but I had already seen quotes from the book popping up on social media, so I was intrigued to read it. I had been a little sceptical about the dangers of pissing off men using some of the lines but there was a responsible warning about that at the beginning of the book, and a reminder of that warning for some of the more assertive suggestions. I really enjoyed the Q&A with his mum at the end, they seem to have a really supportive and open relationship.

What didn’t work for me: I know I can’t have both worlds with an audio book of a coffee table book but I really would have liked to see the pictures. Additionally I found it hard to remember the items on the list as it went so fast. I guess I’ll have to find a copy of the physical book.

Final thoughts: A fun list of insults intended to make the recipient think.

Who would enjoy this: Mostly women, but men really should read it too.

Will be using these to piss off men ASAP.
Interview with his mom after the end of the book gave thought-provoking talking points.

So like, I totally grabbed this book thinking it was gonna be hilarious and packed with some seriously savage comebacks to make dudes crumble. And, I mean, there were a few moments where I was like, “Yaaas, queen!” but honestly? It just didn’t fully land for me. 💁‍♀️

Some of the comebacks were kinda cute, but others felt super basic, like, stuff we already say. I was hoping for some next-level zingers, you know? But it didn’t really give me anything new to add to my go-to clapbacks. 😅

If you’re looking for something with real oomph, it’s more of a quick giggle than a total LOL-fest. Definitely not as sharp as I expected, but hey, it’s not the worst. 📚✨ It’s a cute little read, just not the die-of-laughter moment I was dreaming of. 💅

Big thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

The list of things that piss off men were hilarious. I listened twice because I found them so funny. The second portion of the book was basically a Q&A with Kyle and his mother giving the background to the inner workings to his childhood and thought process. I found this very entertaining and look forward to listening to his podcasts . Thank you to NetGalley and RBmedia for this free advanced copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily

What a fun audiobook! Not only was it hilarious but it was also confidence building to women in this modern society. I enjoyed the commentary between the author and his mother at the end. Very informative on the intent of the author to break down the male ego when they’re being oppressive to sort of even the playing field. Most women don’t know how to respond when offended so hearing these suggestions helps give some ammunition just in case it’s needed later.
♥️ Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this audiobook ARC.

How to Piss Off Men is a hilarious, sharp, and unapologetic guide that flips the script on gender dynamics with wit and style. The book cleverly dissects societal expectations and offers empowering insights for women to embrace their independence while calling out toxic behaviors. It's both entertaining and thought-provoking, blending humor with powerful messages about self-confidence and defying outdated norms. A bold, fun read that will leave you feeling inspired and ready to take on the world!

I really love Kyle Prue and his TikTok series. The book was fun and I'm glad he narrated and I really liked the added bits of the stories that were behind some of his viral TikTok advice. I was surprised by how short this was - more like a short essay than a book. I do wish it had been longer!

I actually laughed out loud while reading this book. Listening to the audiobook while working with headphones in may not be the best approach. I am sure that people passing by thought I was crazy as I burst out laughing. This was a short but enjoyable read. Recommend!

I didn't quite know what to except with this book but it met my expectations tenfold...

Kyle Prue, you are a gem. This book was so funny and his delivery as the narrator was comedic gold. I have to buy this immediately and put it on my coffee table, put it into everyone's stockings, take it to secret santa... it just a perfectly short and digestible funny read. I also think that some of these things could actually be applicable when a guy is annoying you, however about half of them are very fandom specific.

My favorites were #8, #20, #31, #36, #52, #68, #76, #82, #97!

Thank you Netgalley and RBmedia for this arc!

I love this TikTok series, so I knew I’d like the book. Having Kyle explain that this book is such a Virgo move (“Who publishes a list of insults?”) resonated. I laughed out loud reading it. Kohl’s cash crypto, the Pink Floyd pride shirt, Let’s Go Brandon, and Team Jacob were highlights for me. I also appreciated Kyle’s heartfelt afterward.
“Will it make a self described alpha man’s head explode? What won’t?”
“If he’s gone to therapy, this likely won’t work. Which means it’s very likely to work”

Thank you NetGalley and RBmedia for the ARC of this audiobook for my honest review

Funny and short, my favorite insults were #8, #25 #26 #36 #39 #47 #52 and #58, but you’d have to read it to find out what they were. I think this could be a great series like 109 things to say to piss off Americans etc. Great funny gift for someone else but I probably wouldn’t get one for myself.

I'll be publishing my review on Goodreads and StoryGraph 13th October and on Tik tok most likely will add to a monthly wrap up post with review the beginning of November.

This is a very funny adaptation of Kyle Prue’s TikTok series, Things To Say To Piss Off Men, and it has some nice reflections at the beginning and end. While Kyle Prue does a great job narrating the audiobook, this is definitely more of a coffee table book.

Thank you Recorded Books and NetGalley for an advanced listeners copy.

Omg this was hilarious! I highly recommend listening to this book! It is very quick witted and funny. I am now following him since I definitely want to hear more from him!

According to Kyle, the key insulting a man is to find what makes a man feel important then belittle it.

This had the same vibe of Kyle’s TikTok’s with even more self awareness, as a cis-het white man. I thoroughly enjoyed this and laughed out loud multiple times.

At the end of the audiobook there was a long chat with Kyle and his mom, Kelly. They touch upon many topics but one that’s dear to my heart (as a person who pushes men to do better) that they don’t actually hate men. They want to help men get out of the box that our patriarchy[, white supremacy] society has told them they need to fit within. Kyle says to any man or person that feels anger at anything in his book/TikToks to learn to say “that hurt me” and deep dive into why.

My favorite jab that I will be taking with me… When you want to tell a man he’s being a dick, tell him: “wow you’re so sassy”

Thank you NetGalley and RBMedia for the free audiobook in exchange for an honest review!

Arc provided by @netgalley

When I started this book I was prepared for a fun little giggle listening to @kyleprue give me valuable lessons on ruining men. I’ve been an avid fan of the TikTok series so I was very excited and was not disappointed.
What I was not prepared for was the poignant break down of the detrimental impact of fragile masculinity and what that really means. The emotional dive into Prue’s own history and heartfelt anecdotes. This book gave me so much more than I anticipated and pulled out big emotions.
If you’re looking for a good time trying to figure out if you too could win in a fight with a goose to the death or a peak into the importance of kindness and open feeling in men this book is for you.

Pride gives a line that goes something like Men are always interested in the blood, but rarely in the wound it comes from. I’m not sure I’ll EVER be over it.

A million stars. Highly recommend.

I don’t necessarily think I needed a guide on how to piss off men (I seem to do a fantastic job all on my own, thank you very much), I do appreciate a good list.

I listened to this audiobook while working, and had to stifle multiple cackles as to not alarm my coworkers. I will be thinking of “you kinda give me a preemie vibe” for a long time, and will definitely find a way to use it at some point.

Although this book is a comedy, it is also a social commentary on gender norms and the effects of the patriarchy, and you can tell Prue put a lot of thought into those aspects.

Now, Kyle, even after all the analysis that went into whether or not you could win a fight to the death against a Canadian goose, I’m still convinced the goose would win.

Thank you to NetGalley, Sourcebooks, and RBmedia for providing me with an ALC in exchange for my honest review!

You look like a man who got a book deal from his social media.

BUT I LOVE YOU, good for you honey! Well deserved!

I enjoyed this immensely because it was literally just the exact thing we hear from Kyle on his social, which is EXACTLY what I want from a social media personality that was given a book. I want what they are known for. Please stop giving people who became internet famous book deals and letting them write about like, the byzantine era for no reason at all.

Five stars. Please keep giving us sayings to piss off men.
