This is one of those short gimmick books that you see at Urban Outfitters and give to your friend as a joke, so if you don't know who Kyle Prue is, you might be annoyed, but if you are already a fan, you'll have fun with this one. Read the audiobook, since the last half is an interview/discussion with his mom.

I was glad that this had my favorite cuts from the videos - "Oh so it's like Kohl's Cash" - and some new ones I didn't recognize.
- "'Have you ever watched Caillou?' Say this to a guy who likes Andrew Tate, since he likes bald toddlers so much."
- "'Is that a furry thing?' Say this when he says he's an alpha male."

Kyle also has a thoughtful discussion on anger and men's socialization that takes this from just a funny book of insults into a call to other men to be more.

Thank you to Netgalley and RBmedia for this audio ARC.

I’ll be honest, I picked up this book purely because of the title. I mean, how could you not? The idea of a snarky handbook with comebacks to take down annoying guys sounded like it would be hilarious. And while there were definitely a few moments that made me laugh, it didn’t quite live up to my expectations.

There were some quite funny parts, but overall the humor didn’t quite hit the mark for me. While there were a few entertaining parts, a lot of the jokes fell flat. Many of the insults are things women already know or have said before, so I didn’t really get any new material to add to my list, which I was hoping for. The concept is great, but it felt like it could’ve gone further or been sharper.

I’ve followed the author on TikTok and love their content there, but something about the humor didn’t translate as well in the audiobook. Without the visual aspect of TikTok, the delivery felt a bit flat. I think I might’ve enjoyed this more in print where I could take my time with each line, but in audio form, it just felt kind of dry.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a fun read, and if you like the author’s style, you’ll probably enjoy it. It just didn’t land for me as much as I’d hoped. Definitely some laughs, but not quite what I was expecting.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

The satire was absolutely hilarious! I really enjoyed all the clever jabs, but what stood out to me were the explanations and anecdotes. The audio was brilliant, especially since it was narrated by Prue himself; you could really sense the sarcasm and deadpan delivery in his voice. It definitely enhanced the overall experience.

I also found the Q&A session with Prue and his mother to be incredible. They explored the purpose of the book, highlighting the benefits readers can gain, while also offering perspectives on why some aspects of the book might be unsettling to others and what that means.

Ultimately, this was a great read and I believe having a physical copy would make a wonderful addition to any coffee table. Thanks to NetGalley and RBmedia for the LC!

Kyle Prue's "How to Piss off Men" is a clever mix of humor and social commentary in a short, quick read.
The book itself is about an hour long, but the audiobook version includes additional commentary and conversation with Kyle and his mom.

I love that Kyle was the narrator, because his dry delivery enhances the experience. His style brings a nice balance between entertainment, while tackling gender norms and societal expectations.

It's funny. It's not too long. It says a lot in a short period of time.

I enjoyed the ending with the chat with his mom!

I would read more from the author!

Thank you to NetGalley, Kyle Prue, his mom, and RBMedia for the opportunity to read How to Piss Off Men. I have written this review voluntarily.

I’ve been following Kyle Prue on TikTok for quite a while now, so when this book was announced I knew I had to read it. I love his deadpan delivery online, so I was happy to hear he was narrating the audiobook himself.

Truly a fun time.

The audio is the way to go. Kyle Prue should be a narrator for more books.

I laughed out loud and got choked up a bit when he talked about his grandfather.

The audio has an interview with him and his mom. It was a great addition.

Thanks to netgalley and rbmedia for an alc

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I am always pleased when I see Kyle Prue show up during mindless scrolling through Instagram reels. I find his content and general lack of affect charming. So when I saw that he had written a book inspired by his viral series “Things You Can Say to Piss Off Men”, I was intrigued. When I saw that the book had an audiobook version narrated by the author, I was even more intrigued. Would his monotonous drawl translate to long(er) form content? Yes. Yes, it does. In fact, I think Kyle Prue should narrate MORE audiobooks.
This book was not only funny, but it was also somehow insightful. I think I initially thought the book would just be a list of things to say to piss off men, or maybe, based on the title, things you could do to piss off men, but it is strangely so much deeper than that. This weird little book had me examining the root causes of male anger, questioning dominant paradigms, and laughing out loud.
I also really liked the bonus conversation with the author’s mom at the end. I honestly think it makes the audiobook a better option than print. It was heartwarming, but also really dissected some important issues that some readers might miss.
Would it be too much to say that this book is a call to arms to tear down the patriarchy? Maybe, but that’s what I’m going to call it. What a surprise. What a delight. All the stars. Bravo, Kyle Prue, Bravo.

This was great and so funny. If you follow Kyle's TikTok, many of these will be repetitive. But they're hilarious, and he's gone viral for a reason!

If you enjoyed Prue's video series, you'll enjoy this. It's a collection of funny vaguely insulting statements with descriptions of how (or why) to use them for maximum effect. I thought the ending was particularly strong when Prue describes patriarchy as a series of boxes we're all put in.

I thought the interview between Prue and his mother was a nice edition to a short audiobook.

This was a fun quick audiobook!
It was less than 2 hours, it was entertaining and funny. I do think the Q&A was more of a podcast vibe, but the "Things to say to piss off men" was so funny and I've been following Kyle on instagram and seen a lot of these videos before. I learned about the author, and liked that he was his own narrator too!

Thank you to NetGalley, the publishers, and especially the author for this ARC in exchange for my honest review of the book!!

2.5 stars.

I found some parts of the book entertaining, some of the jokes(?) fell really flat for me though, so overall I’d say this was a rather mediocre read.

Entertaining insults to say to dudes that you want to leave you alone! I think if I didn't already see Prue's comedy online this may be weird to listen to with no context.

There's the list of 106 insults, a quick how to build your own insults and what gets under men's skin segment, and then it's over. The audio does have another 50% left of the author and his mother giving advice, which was a cool touch and felt like a little podcast episode.

Very quick, very snappy, don't recommend saying these in real life unless you feel safe and have an escape plan. These are also written by and tested by a cis white guy, so intersectionality is lacking.

Like all jokes, some made me laugh, some were bad, and some were meh. Many have been used in his standup too. I will be telling all my guys at work that I love their blouses though.

Quick listen, would recommend getting this as a library loan if possible, unless you want this as a coffee table book or something, there's not much content inside it lol.

I cackled listening to this. Despite being highly entertained I don't recommend buying it. I'm rating it on pure entertainment.

Did I send an awkward amount of these to my friends going through bad relationship things? Yup. I really just don't think it's necessary to bring TikTok into print. (I was unaware this was a TT thing until after I listened to it jsyk). Good for the author for getting his bag though.

The audiobook is incredibly short and I didn't really care for the podcast extra epilogue? Idk.

Listen to it on Libby, maybe buy it as a gag for a friend who needs cheering up. it's fun.

Thank you to the author, RB and Netgalley for this audiobook. I am leaving this review voluntarily and the opinions are my own.

Thank you so much for the arc on the audio book. I have seen this author on tiktok and enjoy their content there. However, I felt like the delivery on audio felt a bit dry and deadpan and without the visuals it didn't mesh well with the comedy. All in all, I did enjoy it greatly though. I really loved the segment about his mom as well. She seems badass.

After being given the opportunity to review the print version of this book, I was excited to be able to read the author himself reading it in the audiobook. I don't know how else to say it so it doesn't come off strange... So, sorry. But I just REALLY enjoyed Kyle Prue's voice. It's the kind that doesn't put me to sleep but isn't so theatrical it takes away from the content.

Including an exclusive - HOUR LONG!!! - interview of Kyle's mom is such a great idea. Especially because I'm near 30 and my tiktok algo is cleaning, parenting, books, and lifehacks; I had no clue this is an expansion on his tiktok series of the same (or similar?) name. Maybe I would have enjoyed this more had I known that going in? And while I did enjoy the interview., it wasn't part of the book. It felt like a podcast tacked on to the end of the narration.

So, with no further ado, here's my review of the <i>content of the book</i> itself.

Unfortunately, this didn't quite live up to my expectations. I admit some of the things to say are hilarious - the problem was that the higher percentage of them were platitudinal. I was happy to find that the things that were good, were REALLY good. Good enough I think this deserves a 3/5 rating to make sure people aren't turned off by seeing a rating less than 3 (or is it just me who experiences this phenomenon?).

{Thank you bunches to NetGalley, Kyle Prue and Sourcebooks for the ARC!}

How to Piss off men was very funny! I loved the explanations and also how various insults were actually said to the author previously. Very funny
