When Erin’s boyfriend stands her up on their wedding day, she finds her life spiralling out of control. Having been used to planning everything, suddenly her life is not as she planned. Leaving her friend Aaron behind to make her way to New York city as a governess, Erin embraces her new life. She finds herself attracted to her employer, millionaire Daniel Goldstein, but events transpire whereby Erin begins to wonder what he is hiding from her.
It is obvious from the start that Erin is confused with her relationship with Aaron, after having broken up with her fiancé. She struggles with relationships, in part, due to the raw emotion felt from her father’s death. Her close relationship with her father, who would tell her that she was the apple of his eye, impacted her self-confidence and feelings of worth. How this impacts her is clearly evident in her relationship with both Aaron and Daniel. Without revealing the plot, this was an engaging read, even though, at times, I wished that Erin would actually reveal her inner thoughts, rather than compartmentalising her pain.
This book I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
