Celebrating Every Day is a lovely idea, isn’t it? It’s something that we should all do because each day is precious. In the delightful family cookbook of the same name by Melissa Johnson you will find colorful pictures accompanying 100 recipes that will happily take you from season to season through with one toothsome offering after another.
What I liked about this book was how personal it was. I truly enjoyed reading all of the food-related family stories and reminisces that she so generously shared. For someone like me who has been collecting cookbooks for a lifetime, however, there was really nothing new here. I might go so far as to say that this book reminded me of a collection of Pinterest photos and associated recipes, made charming through lovely text. That’s an observation, not a criticism. I think this would be an excellent cookbook for a young family, or couple setting up a new household. For someone like me, alas, I’ve pretty much seen it all.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for providing me with an advanced digital copy in exchange for a review.
Celebrating Every Day by Melissa Johnson is such a fun cookbook! Based on the title and the sweet-filled cover, I was expecting mostly desserts, so I was surprised to see breakfasts and main dishes. I didn’t really think those fit the “celebration” vibe, but I loved the holiday-themed appetizers and the fun walking treats—those are perfect for camping!
I can definitely appreciate the time-saving recipes that use things like Pillsbury rolls or canned cinnamon rolls, but for celebrations, I’d usually prefer something fully homemade. That said, it’s great to have quick options for when you’re short on time while planning a party.
The best part of the book? The Bunny Butt Dip—it’s so cute, and you’ll just have to check it out to see what I mean!
Such a fun book. It has super cute ideas and delicious recipes. The food is doable so that any level of expertise can do it. This book was so much fun!

I decided to make Cranberry Bliss Fudge for this review. Like many of Melissa's recipes, this one is fun and not time-consuming. I believe the recipe will be found on page 216 of this cookbook when published in April 2025. The book was beautifully written. The author made careful word choices that were very impactful. Overall, the book was well written and I did really enjoy it.
I would like to thank netGalley and William Morrow for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
I am always looking for cute simple treats to make , and this ecopy has provided just that. I loved the ease of preparation for these recipes, the ingredients are easy to find. I am looking forward to the release of this book so that I can buy it as a gift.
Celebrating Every Day includes 100 recipes for breakfast, dinner, appetizers, treats, desserts, and holidays to make every day special. Every recipe has an introduction, ingredient list, numbered directions, and icons to show what holidays the recipes would be great for. However, only around two-thirds of the recipes include photos, and most of the photos are of the desserts and holiday recipes. I appreciate it when cookbooks include a photo of every recipe because you can see what the final dish is supposed to look like, and it can help you decide if you want to make it. That said, the recipes do seem easy enough to follow, and the cookbook would be perfect for those looking for every day and holiday-themed recipes.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. This has a few interesting ideas and recipes, but not a book that I need to own.
This was a fluke request for me because I almost never request cookbooks...I am usually so disappointed but THIS one was the exact type of cookbook I was looking for...most, if not all, of the recipes have these really colorful amazing pictures to go with them and just about everything looks like something I would eat or take to a potluck or something. In fact, as soon as I was done with it I went to go look on Amazon to see if it was available yet. I will definitely be buying this one. And I would recommend it for anyone who either has small children or eats like small children :)
I received an e-copy of this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
The color scheme was giving me Chef Barbie (which is not an insult), just an observation. There were a few recipes that I would maybe be interested in, but as a whole this cookbook was not really up my alley. I think people will particularly like the holiday section, because the holiday decorated stuff seems to be big with the pinterest crowds.
I like the concept of this book, and the idea of celebrating every day. I liked the holiday icons that showed which recipes are good for each holiday. The recipes were fun yet simple. The flavors of the recipes were familiar yet done in a really creative way. The layout of the book was whimsical and added to the overall aesthetic of the book. While the recipes seem skewed more towards what children would enjoy, I feel like children of all ages really would love this book.
What a beautiful book! I immediately wanted to make a list of recipes to try. I like how the book categorizes recipes, making it easy to find food ideas based on a holiday or special occasion or just because! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. I think families with young children will really enjoy this book.
