Take a Chance on Me by Elizabeth Eulberg is a total win for any YA romance fan. British musician boyfriend? Yes, please. Strangers-to-lovers? Heck yes. First love, second chances? YES, YES, YES.After a viral video of her cheating ex goes public, Evie heads to London to escape it all. She’s staying with her estranged dad, who’s constantly switching girlfriends, and definitely didn’t plan on falling for the cute busker she keeps running into. But sometimes life works out in the best way possible. This book is everything I love about YA romance, simple plot with deep emotions. The way it handles family issues, mental health, and loss felt so real and beautifully done. I loved the found family element and how it all came together. In a sea of over-complicated YA plots, this book is a refreshing, feel-good read. It’s got all the right ingredients for a good romance! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my opinion!

Such a fun read! I enjoyed how emotional this was. I think there are a lot of big issues loaded into this book. I didn't mind too much, but, I do wish there was a little more lightheartedness in this story.

Take a Chance On Me is a sweet young adult love story. Escaping to London after a video of Evie breaking up with her boyfriend goes viral, Evie spends most of her time avoiding going home to her by exploring London. She meets Aiden and they become fast friends. Evie and Aiden develop feelings for one another and the love story is sweet and age appropriate. The book deals with abandonment and eating disorders in a responsible and healthy way. Overall, I enjoyed this book. Aiden was a great boyfriend and Evie had a lot of growth in the book.

In my mind, running away to London is *always* a good idea. And that was all the context I needed to dive into this book!
We meet Evie when she hops on a plan across the pond to escape a bad breakup and a viral video of a not so great moment. As she's settling in to her Dad's flat, with whom she does not have a great relationship with, she is also intentional about making the city her own. She runs into Aiden, a busker, and they form an absolutely sweet friendship. He brings her into the friend group and everyone hits it off. It's intl a matter of time before they can ignore the chemistry between them.
I didn't initially realize this was YA, which isn't a bad thing, it was a very sweet read, perfect for the tweens and teens. I may not be the right demographic for this story but I LOVE a YA books 99% of the time, the nostalgia is real. But this one dealt with some fairly heavy issues both on Evie's side and Aiden's. As sweet as the story was (no spice), this heavy issues by the end were not resolved in the slightest, even with the target audience it felt like there was more closure that was needed to wrap up the plot. And for all the ways it played up escaping to London, I wanted to feel more immersed in the setting and as the reader, we don't really get that.
While I enjoyed the book overall, it could have added a bit more age appropriate depth that would have made it that much more of a favorite, or a slightly more nostalgic read for those of us that grew up in the MK & A era!
Thank you Netgalley and Scholastic | Scholastic Inc for the ARC in exchange for my review!

Thank you Scholastic for the Net Galley Arc!
Imagine getting dumped in the worst way possible - like, viral humiliation levels of bad. That’s exactly what happens to Evie, and honestly? I’d be booking the next flight out, too. So, she escapes to London for the summer, hoping for a fresh start. Then there's Aiden - a ridiculously charming, swoon-worthy British musician (we love a British, musician book boyfriend). He keeps appearing everywhere she goes, and despite her very reasonable fears about love, their connection is undeniable. But this book isn’t just about romance, Evie’s also dealing with some serious family baggage, particularly with her estranged father, making this a story about second chances in more ways than one. Evie starts off guarded and a little broken (understandably!), but watching her reclaim her confidence and open herself back up to love and life made me so happy, I was rooting hard for her. Aiden, aka my new British book boyfriend. If you know me, you know I have a thing for British love interests, and Aiden absolutely delivers. He’s sweet, funny, supportive, and a little bit of a flirt, but also has his own struggles, which made him feel more real. Eulberg nailed the setting. London was the supporting actor in this story and the book was giving full "fall in love while wandering the city" energy, and I was HERE for it. You can practically hear the street musicians, smell the coffee shops, and feel the magic of discovering a new place. As mentioned, Evie is navigating more than just a romantic second-chance. The father-daughter dynamic added emotional depth to the story. Seeing Evie struggle with whether to forgive and reconnect made this book feel more layered than a typical rom-com. This book was pure joy - a mix of healing, hope, self-discovery, and a romance that makes you kick your feet. It’s got travel, music, emotional depth, and a British book boyfriend to die for.
If you love YA romance with heart, humor, and a dreamy British love interest, this book is a must-read!

Elizabeth Eulberg's return to YA lit is triumphant! It's a fantastic, quick read rom-com with some serious undertones. Trigger Warning: eating disorders.

I have been a fan of Elizabeth Eulberg for years and was excited that she had a new book. Take a Chance On Me feels like a classic YA book. The romance was sweet and the issues while present were gently addressed. It’s a great book for young teen readers looking for a travel romance.

This book surprised me. I didn’t expect it to have such serious topics but they were handled well. It was nice to see issues within a family that were well balanced and realistic. It was also a nice mix of romance and challenges that I appreciated. Side characters were also fleshed out pretty well and made it easy to get immersed into the story. Although the story wasn’t what I expected I really liked it and would encourage others to check it out.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc

Thank you to Scholastic publishing and NetGalley for the advanced E-ARC of this title.
This is a YA book, but the characters feel older and relatable. I think that this book being set in London, where the drinking age is 18, added to the feel of them being older.
Evie runs to London to be with her dad after a humiliating betrayal by her boyfriend and best friend. While wandering around aimlessly, she hears Aiden's crooning voice, singing on the street as a coping mechanism to deal with his profound grief.
Cut to some cute banter and a lovely friendship between the two, and you have the makings of a cute YA romance. This book has some heavy topics including disordered eating, body dysmorphia, and OCD. The eating disorder is focused on Evie's dad, and it was a fascinating choice by the author that paid off well. In so many ways, Evie felt more like the adult.
This book is far more than a simple, cutesy YA novel. It has big feelings and heartfelt themes.

ake a Chance on Me is a summer romance set in London.
Evie is the kind of protagonist that’s not going to be a hit with everyone. Her sort of stream-of-consciousness first-person narration takes a while to get used to. And she’s very good at wallowing. You don’t get the full story for her betrayal until way into the story, so it can be hard to relate. Mostly, she’s messy and has a lot of baggage. And while she eventually grows, it’s a long path getting there.
Take a Chance on Me is a romance. But it’s more a study of relationships — Evie with Aiden; Evie with her dad; Evie with her new friends; Evie with her dad’s girlfriend. And truthfully, it’s Evie’s relationship with her dad that really stands out.
In this relationship, author by Elizabeth Eulberg works through a lot — feelings of abandonment, eating disorders, living up to expectations. There’s a lot to unpack and it feels deeply personal. It’s something for readers to consider should any of these topics are triggering.
Take a Chance on Me is a fast (less than 300 pages) standalone novel, that’s sweet with a bit of depth tucked in for good measure.

a lighthearted romance on a trip to London. Take a Chance on Me is a nice addition to Eulberg's teen friendly romances. The difficulty with the absent parent is relatable and I like the relationship with the father's girlfriend.

This sweet YA romance also deals with tough topics such as eating disorders and cheating. Evie fleas to London to visit her dad when a video of her telling off her cheating ex-boyfriend goes viral. She promised herself that she'd swore off guys, but quickly meets and falls for Aiden, a kind, funny, busker whose music she kind of loves. Don't miss the latest YA romance from Elizabeth Eulberg!

While I was hoping for a fun summer adventure full of heartache, healing, and maybe a few heart-eyes in between, Take a Chance on Me is a little lacking (in prose, characterization, development, descriptions, and then some). Evie's a difficult FMC to love right off the bat, since we see her deep in bitter heartache without much context. While Evi's journey is relatable and realistic, it's hard to connect with her emotionally, especially when the story relies a lot on leaving you in the dark, then TELLING you everything via Evie's first-person narration. While I loved the messy relationships and possibility for self-discovery, the execution leaves a bit more work. I did enjoy the focus on deep, important topics (body image, relationships with food, abandonment, not fitting into a family unit, etc.).

After her great heartbreak at the end of last school year, Evie runs away to live the summer with her estranged father in London. While her dad isn't around much, Evie meets cute busker Aiden, who she strikes up a quick friendship with. This novel tackles deep emotional issues and balances it with heartfelt and funny moments. It was a cute novel that moves quickly.

When a video of your ex cheating goes viral what do you do? You run to London for summer or at least that's what Evie does. This rom com is perfect for readers who've ever had to deal with a cheating ex.

In "Take a Chance on Me" by Elizabeth Eulberg. we follow Evie as she flies to England to spend the whole summer with her dad in hopes of out running a dramatic breakup she is leaving behind in America. While on her holiday in England she must face, the relationship-what there is of it-with her dad, the residual feelings she has about the aforementioned dramatic breakup, and new feelings she has for a guy she meets playing guitar on the streets of London. While making friends along the way, Evie spends her summer abroad finding herself.
The relationships Evie has with the people in her life and the people she meets are great and thought out. I love that she makes friends so far away from home. If I were in her position, I would not be able to just drop into a group of friends like that, go her!
I LOVED Poppy, there for a minute she was the reason I was reading. She had such good advice for Evie. Poppy was like the older sister figure Evie needed. I wanted to see more of Poppy but am thankful for what page time she did have.
I wanted to learn more about Adian too, possibly going deeper with him and his life than just the loss of his sister. But this was not Adian's book, it was Evie's, so makes sense. However, being able to see the emails they did send back and forth would have been cute.
I also LOVED every scene where Evie stood up to a bully for someone. It was very satisfying to read.
While this was a cute book, I just did not enjoy the writing overall, it could have been stronger. While Evie had some good lines, for the most part she would annoy me with her attitude. I also went into this book expecting more romance between Evie and Adian. I was intrigued by Adian being a busker, but then most of this book was just about her dad.
This book is perfect for a teen looking for a book that has deep conversations about parental abandonment, disordered eating, and a mild clean romance.

Take a Chance on Me by Elizabeth Eulberg is the kind of book that feels like a spontaneous summer adventure—filled with heartbreak, healing, and just the right amount of swoon.
Evie, our lovable (and recently humiliated) protagonist, escapes to London after a video of her confronting her cheating ex goes viral. As if that weren’t enough drama, she has to stay with the one person she resents the most—her estranged father. But then there’s Aiden, a ridiculously charming British busker who keeps appearing in her path, making it harder for Evie to keep her guard up.
This book gives off major The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight vibes, with its whirlwind romance, deep emotional moments, and an irresistible London backdrop. Eulberg perfectly balances humor, heartache, and hope, making Evie’s journey feel real and relatable. And Aiden? Let’s just say if you love a sweet, musically gifted love interest who sees Evie for who she truly is, he’s going to steal your heart.
Take a Chance on Me is perfect for readers who love stories about self-discovery, messy but meaningful family relationships, and, of course, a romance worth risking it all for. It’s heartfelt, hilarious, and full of those this could only happen in a rom-com moments that make you want to book a one-way ticket to London immediately.

Inject Elizabeth Eulberg energy directly into my veins, and get me back to England.
After an astounding blow to her personal relationships back in the States, dual citizen Evie runs to spend more than the allotted summer break with her British native father. She vows not to not let anyone in and protect herself, until a handsome British busker comes into her life.
I like how Eulberg goes towards older teens now in her YA (Also see PAST PERFECT LIFE) though sometimes her forays into children's lit sometimes bleed through in how her older characters speak in moments of stress. This book doesn't shy away from heavier topics (dad with possible ED, daddy issues, both of which almost made me put the book down at some points), though Eulberg did her homework.
The storyline with her dad is never really totally resolves in my mind, but I'm also not sure what else she could have done. Overall, I liked it.
Thanks, NetGalley!

A sweet romance set in England with an adorable golden retriever love interest. It's a romance, but delves into deeper issues of grief, eating disorders, and family pressure.
