This is the third book in this installment, and it was my first introduction to the series. I will say that while I wasn't confused per se, there were some moments that must have been acknowledgements to the previous books. This wasn't a bad thing, and definitely made me want to read the entire series. But I just wanted to throw that out there so you guys know that the world building was done in previous books, however it's easy to pick up on and you won't feel lost. And can we all take a moment to appreciate the beautiful cover. The whole series is like this and flows so well together!

Maya Rosen is a very powerful mage. This world has witches and mages, and they are different with mages being more powerful. There are also vampires, demons, goblins, and other Others. She now runs a cafe called the Witch's Brew and she also deals in spells and magic. I feel like she's really living the dream. I would love to run a cafe and deal in magic in a backroom. Alas I am but a human lol.

Ravyr is a vampire who is pretty high up on the hierarchy of vampires and to top that off in this world vampires are the top of the food chain in general. However, the whole world thinks he's dead. So when he and Maya are thrown together. it shocks Maya. They knew each other in another life, and the ending to that wasn't pretty. That being said, Ravyr is willing to break his cover by saving Maya, and the two of them begin an investigation into who would want Maya dead. Turns out, kind of a lot of people.

There is so much more going on than the two of them think, and all of that hits them hard. They are hunting down someone dealing in an illegal and exotic drug, they are hunting down the assassin, or assassins plural, and trying to figure out how an old enemy fits in. The whole situation is becoming one big mess. But with two very powerful and very smart characters, we know they'll figure everything out.

The sparks between them fly at every turn, and the excitement of the mystery keeps you turning pages far into the night. Alexandra Ivy is always a win.

This is the third installment in the series and focuses on Maya. You learn about her background and the reason for her hatred of vampires. Joe, the mysterious benefactor gives some new hints about his reasons for being involved. Maya also receives a visit from her past, Rayvr, providing some slow-burn romance.

There are a couple of mysteries occurring, further information on Tia, and a hint for a possible fourth book. Suspenseful, intriguing, and a fun read.

Thank you to NetGalley, Kensington Publishing | Lyrical Press, and Alexandra Ivy, for the eARC.

A past best forgotten catches up with Maya in this suspenseful, thrilling fantasy romance.

Maya wasn't a very likable character in the first two books. She came across as quite strict and rigid, and it was a given that she had some trauma from long ago that made her that way. The past was very cleverly woven into the story of the present and gave us a chilling view into Maya's psyche. But this also gave her the determination she needed to figure out the mystery of who wanted her dead. And to face some ghosts from the past as well.

Ravyer was an indistinguishable part of her painful past. They tiptoed around each other initially, but their fascination with each other from before reignited with a bang. I loved how he just fell for Maya, went all in, and didn't question it at all. They made a great couple and an effective team.
Tia played an instrumental role in the entire affair. She and Maya shared a history of pain and suffering, and both had reason to feel resentful. Theirs was a difficult reunion, yet they had each other's backs when it mattered most. We did find out more about Joe and, as expected, he played Maya's protector, but I felt that this wasn't all there was to him.

The plot was a bit convoluted, with lots of players and possible suspects, and our heroes had to chase plenty of dead ends. It all flowed very well, and the resolution was both horrifying and satisfying. I can recommend this series if you like a steamy fantasy romance with vampires, demons, and mages. It is best to read the books in order.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

3.75stars—ETERNAL MAGIC is the third instalment in Alexandra Ivy’s contemporary, adult MAGIC FOR HIRE paranormal, romance series. This is mage Maya Rosen, and vampire Ravyr’s story line. ETERNAL MAGIC can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from several omniscient third person perspectives including Maya and Ravyr ETERNAL MAGIC focuses on the search for someone using dark magic. Approximately forty years earlier, Maya killed a powerful vampire, the man who held her captive, the vampire who almost destroyed her life. Fast forward to present day, Maya gets up close and personal with the ghosts from the past, one who is determined to claim Maya as his own-enter ancient vampire Ravyr, a vampire long thought dead and gone. Someone is targeting our story line heroine, and Ravyr has named himself guardian and protector as our couple continue to search for person in charge, someone who is taking control one demon at a time.

The world building follows several paths including the the building relationship between our story line couple; the betrayal by fellow supernatural powers; and the search for life ever lasting. The past has returned, and is determined to take back his power and control.

The relationship between Maya and Ravyr is one of second chances of a sorts. Ravyr fell for our heroine years before but Ravyr stayed under the radar, letting everyone believe he was buried and gone. Maya is struggling to trust the people in her life, including our story line hero, and the betrayal possibly coming down from the top. The lone $ex scene is passionate.

We are introduced to several supernatural creatures and characters including Maya’s mentor Tia, mage Alison, vampire Batu, and the return of vampire king Valen.

ETERNAL MAGIC is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, magic and obsession. The premise is intriguing and enchanting; the romance is subtle; the characters are determined and charismatic.

Maya Rosen has plenty of experience with vampires, demons, and danger. She wears the scars that prove it. But she established Witch’s Brew, her bookshop and mage’s office, as a cozy place of safety and protection. When the brutally handsome vampire Ravyr appears, decades after she thought he died in the ruins of her master’s lair, Maya is prepared for a fight. Until he saves her life ...

This book was so much fun to read and I was quickly drawn into the mysterious happenings that Maya and Ravyr were trying to unravel. This had the feel of a Stephanie Plum novel, if Stephanie was a witch and Joe Morelle was a Vampire. The banter and heat between the two was fun to watch unfold. I had not read the previous two books in the series but will certainly be going back to read them now!

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC!

I received a free copy in advance in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.
This is the third book in the series, and in this one, we’re following Maya and Ravyr, her thought to be long dead flame. We get a glimpse into their shared past, and the parts of Maya hinted at in the last two books. Of course, we’re going to see our previous happy couples in the process of getting through these challenges, and get through this all together.
In all seriousness, I have fun with this series, and this is no exception. We get coffee, chaos, inter-witch drama, and a little second chance romance and heart mending. Though each of these books can be read separately, they do have a good story arc binding them together, and though the original three women are now complete, I know we haven’t seen the last of them, or their friends. I’m not 100% on the next FMC, but the set up for Tia is pretty solid, and her story looks like it could be meaty if done well.

📖 Title: Eternal Magic -Book #3 Magic for Hire

👆🏾POV: 3rd person, dual

⚠️TW: slavery-h, abuse-h

🌎 Setting: Linden, NJ

Summary: Maya has run the Witch's Brew-a coffee shop, bookstore, and magic for hire office for twelve years. Her BFFs Peri and Skye left after finding their mates. A vampire from her past, Ravyr, reappears after being thought dead the past forty years. Maya hates vampires after being held as a slave by the cabal leader in Cambodia (Batu). She and Ravyr have a common enemy and attempt to solve a string of murders.

👩🏾 Heroine: Maya Rosen-a powerful mage

👨🏾 Hero: Ravyr-1200-year-old-vampire spy

🎭 Other Characters:

* Batu-a vampire who kept Maya and Tia as slaves
* Tia-a mage who was Maya's mentor now they are enemies.

* Peri and Skye-Maya's BFFs and co-owners at The Witch's Brew
* Joyce-a human who works at The Witch's Brew
* Valen -rules the NYC territory, a powerful member of the cabal

🤔 My Thoughts: The plot was a little jumbled and ridiculous. Courtney used an app to get assassin -for- hire jobs. Every time they questioned a demon; someone came along and killed them. I did like the reveal about Joe after three books of wondering what/who he was.

The third book in the series, Eternal Magic, focuses on the mage, Maya. I've been waiting for her story to learn more about her benefactor and her relationship with Tira (which we did). We learned quite a bit about Maya's past and why she likes to take young mages under her wing. I liked the fact that Ravyr was from Maya's past so it didn't feel so much like love at first site. I enjoyed this story.

Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Publishing for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Since the first book in the series introduced the fiery, strong, vampire-hating mage, I was eager to get Maya’s story. Alexandra Ivy’s Magic for Hire world is full of fun and sexy supernatural beings and rousing good action. Eternal Magic promised to be more of the same and I dove in with confidence.

Eternal Magic is the third in the closely-connected Magic for Hire series. It reads best in order since there are several mentions of people and actions that happened in the earlier books even though this does introduce a new pair to be spotlighted.

Eternal Magic’s big conflict is connected to the past. Specifically, Maya’s past when she was a young new mage sold to a vampire and mistreated until she made her escape during the vampire master’s destruction and the past of Ravyr, a vampire with the power to be the master of his own territory, but choosing to work on stealthy missions for the leader of the vampire cabal. If the latest threat to them is to be dealt with, they must reconcile with the past and trust each other in the present where someone is actively trying to kill both of them.

Ravyr was there at the vampire compound where Maya lived a miserable life under a sadistic vampire master. He was undercover for the leader of the vampires and didn’t actively harm her like the other vampires, but he didn’t stop it or help her escape. He was attracted to the fiery, courageous mage then and that hasn’t changed, but he knows he has an uphill battle convincing Maya all vampires are not evil and he wants her for his mate. He respects her as an equal since she has a power and drive that have made her a scary person to cross, but he also wants to protect her and share a trust and intimacy that he’s never experienced with anyone.

On the other side, Maya is livid that she has to tolerate Ravyr as a partner and has no idea who could possibly be behind the attacks or why more than one mage can’t stand the sight of her and would kill her as soon as look at her. Ravyr wants answers too and she reluctantly agrees his power and status make their job easier. The longer she spends time with Ravyr and hears his side of their shared past story, she realizes things aren’t exactly as she thought and he’s not exactly what she thought. Dare she trust a vampire to have her back and let him into her heart?

Like the previous books, the action scenes are exciting and the pace of the story doesn’t really let up. The reader gets to know the characters more deeply and the romance takes hold and deepens along the way as the suspenseful action happens. I love the way it all rolls along together like well-fitted machinery. The mystery of whose after Maya and Ravyr isn’t tough to work out though some of the details that fill in along the way were surprises for me. How they were going to win out was the source of biggest suspense.

I wondered if this would be the last book since the three New Jersey Witch’s Brew mages got their stories, but I’m happy to say there is at least one more book coming for the witchiest of mages and a certain mysterious Watcher. I enjoy the world Alexandra Ivy created with Mages, Vampires, Demons, and Fairies alongside the mundane humane world and taking an old-school style tone to her paranormal romance. Paranormal Romance lovers can settle back and be entertained.

Maya, talented mage and coffee shop entrepreneur, has a mission to find who is wrecking havoc in the Gyre. An old crush/vampire has come to the Gyre by following a trail of intense magic. The two work together to find the evil and resolve their feelings. It’s the third book in the series, so Maya is familiar but I don’t feel it’s necessary to read the first two to follow this one. They each involve a different mage and their mate, but the storylines are independent. The author really did her homework when planning this book as the details are very precise and the story is quite intriguing. I got to enjoy an early copy and wrote my review voluntarily.

What a fascinating and captivating novel! The third book in Alexandra Ivy’s Magic for Hire series, Eternal Magic, keeps the suspense level high in this urban fantasy and paranormal romantic suspense novel. Using contemporary Linden, New Jersey, and nearby areas as the setting, it was easy to visualize Maya’s coffee shop, bookstore, and magic-for-hire office. With a world of mages, witches, vampires, wild magic, and more, what can possibly go wrong?

Maya Rosen has experience with the various supernatural beings in this contemporary setting. She has established her business as a cozy place of safety and protection. However, with unhappy victims of her magic, explosions, and the sudden appearance of vampire Ravyr who she thought died four decades ago, Maya is in for a time of uncertainty and kept on tenterhooks. Even after deciding to team up with Ravyr to resolve several mysteries, her trust of him doesn’t come easily. She’s been betrayed in the past and even their attraction isn’t enough to allow her to fully trust him.

Maya is competent, independent, courageous, and protective of friends and family. She is also willing and able to punish those who prey on the vulnerable. However, she can also be cold, demanding, and impatient at times and feels vampires are ruthless and untrustworthy. Ravyr is strong, loyal, and wants to make a difference in the lives of his people. He has put aside his personal life and longings to pursue that. They soon learn that partnerships require work and don’t happen in an instant. It was great to watch their growth as individuals and as partners. While the story is mainly from Maya’s point of view, there are occasions for others to come to the forefront.

Death, suspense, action, and drama immediately pull readers into the story, which is well-written. It kept me invested in the outcome. The plot is twisty and flows well. Both past and current enemies are woven together seamlessly in the sub-plots. There is the right amount of mystery, tension, apprehensiveness, and romance to keep readers engrossed and wondering what was going to happen next. The descriptive writing doesn’t slow the pace, but enhances the reader’s experience.
There are a couple of spicy scenes later in the book and the conclusion is satisfactory. One of the things I loved was the desire to help, teach, and protect those who need it. Themes include trust, betrayal, friendship, power, found family, revenge, murder, found family, and much more.

Overall, this is a fast-paced, intriguing, and entertaining tale with great characterization and plenty of action and danger that kept me engaged throughout the story. This series is best read in order and I believe this is the last book in the series. Will any of the other characters get their own series?

Kensington Publishing – Lyrical Press and Alexandra Ivy provided a complimentary digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own. Publication date is currently set for February 25, 2025. This review was originally posted at Mystery and Suspense Magazine.

what do you get when you add a touch of second chance, a bit of enemies to lovers, some simmering passion, a healthy dose each of suspicion, mystery and magic? you get Eternal Magic, the 3rd book in the Magic for Hire series. while I read the prior books, I believe this one could be read as a stand alone (though i do recommend the prior books). The story focuses on Maya and Ravyr with little outside intervention as they look to uncover who may be trying to kill one, or both, of them and what, what, if anything, it all has to do with their shared past. This one a little more self contained, the action more mental/intellectual than physical so that there is almost a sense of maturity in the story plot -- all in all the story reflects the main characters themselves -- calm, calculated on the surface but with hidden depths of power, passion, and strength. We get to learn some of the answers to questions from prior books about Maya's past and why dislikes/distrusts vampires so much, also how she came to gain her mysterious "benefactor". I enjoyed Maya & Ravyr's interactions, working together reluctantly at first and developing into a true team together, slowly opening up and sneaking through each others walls.

This is the third book in the Magic for Hire series. The thing I like about this series is that they are interconnected standalone so you don’t necessarily have to read previous books to read the most recent one. This book follows Maya who is another mage and friends with Peri (from the first book). A figure from Maya’s past may or may not be back from the dead. Maya needs to figure out if they are alive while trying to not die in the process. This book is an easy magic realism read where you don’t have think too hard and just enjoy the story! Also I cannot wait to see where the next story goes with the two characters that it’ll hopefully follow !

I wasn't sure how much I would like this book because Maya was so strict and closed off. This really takes the reader behind the curtain to why Maya is the way she in (plus her frenemy relationships with Joe and Tia). She was more stand-offish that I would have preferred, but she wasn't stuck standing stubborn either. She went along with Ravyr, even if it was baby steps.

I hope the thread left for a bonus book happen because I am so excited to read about that pairing.

This is a book filled with intrigue, twists and betrayal. Maya's life is full of contradictions. Joe is certainly a mystery. A powerful one. He pops up all over the place. With Ravyn and Tia's arrival all Hell in the form of Batu erupts. I fell into this book and cheerfully stayed. Truthfully I didn't want it to end.

After reading the first two books in the series, I was on tenterhooks waiting for Maya's story. Maya's story surpasses my expectations and give us an exciting finish to the trilogy though perhaps the author isn't done with this world and there are more stories to tell if the supporting characters have their say.
Maya is lonely now that her two apprentices have both found their HEA's even if they are both mated to powerful vampires. As Maya looks into the possibility of bringing in a new apprentice, she is drawn into the city and almost pulverized by a bomb intended for her.  Her savior is someone from her past, whom she thought long dead but as it turns out he's alive and well and on assignment from the vampire council.
Ravyr and Maya team up together as they go in search of the echo of the magic that Ravyr sensed when the bomb was exploded but originally when Maya won her freedom from the vampire Batu who had once kept her his prisoner. With a colorful cast of goblins, demons, witches, vampires, mages and even a necromancer the story takes readers on a thrilling ride of magic and mayhem.
