Eternal Magic by Alexandra Ivy is a captivating tale of romance.
Ivy’s storytelling shines with vivid descriptions and complex characters, keeping you hooked from start to finish. The romance is intense, filled with passion and heart-stopping moments, while the plot delivers plenty of twists to keep you guessing.
For fans of paranormal romance and magical adventures, Eternal Magic is a thrilling escape into a world where love and power collide. Be prepared for a fast-paced, emotional ride that leaves you eager for more.
Eternal Magic is the third book in Alexandra Ivy's Magic for Hire series. Maya is a sort of matriarch of the mages and came across as a bit bitter in the earlier books. However, once her background is explored, her feelings become understandable. She is a good and noble person who fights for those she loves. Her chemistry with Ravyr is fantastic and the mystery they solve is fascinating. I only wish her proteges had played more of a part in the story but here's hoping they will reappear in the next book.
A fantastic next chapter in the Magic for Hire series!
Maya, for very good reason, does not like vampires. But Ravyr always had a part of her heart. Imagine her surprise when the vampire isn't dead like she had assumed all these years. The chemistry between these two was palpable and I was hooked from the beginning to follow them on their hunt to discover who blew up an underground fighting ring.
I'm so glad this series seems to be continuing - can't wait for the next installment.
A huge thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and Alexandra Ivy for providing me with an ARC of Eternal Magic in exchange for my honest review.
Eternal Magic is the third installment in Alexandra Ivy's Magic for Hire series. Despite not having read the previous two books, I found it easy to follow the story, which speaks to Ivy’s skill in crafting an accessible and engaging narrative.
The story centers on Maya Rosen, a formidable mage who runs a mage-for-hire business out of a coffee shop in New York City. Maya is a force to be reckoned with—her reputation precedes her, and the supernatural beings that populate the city, from mages to vampires and demons, are wise to tread carefully around her.
Quotes like, “Only a fool would underestimate Maya Rosen and the damage she would do to keep her friends and family safe. A dead fool,”; “Her sense of justice demanded vengeance” and “This woman had carved out her place in this dangerous city, and the demons understood the cost of challenging her” capture her essence perfectly. Maya’s sense of justice, paired with her strength and determination, makes her a compelling and layered protagonist.
The story kicks off with an attempt on Maya’s life, which brings her face-to-face with Ravyr, a powerful vampire tied to her tragic past. The plot is fast-paced, unraveling as Maya and Ravyr join forces to uncover the culprit behind the attack.
One of the standout aspects of the book for me was watching Maya’s cold, ruthless exterior soften as her relationship with Ravyr deepens. Their chemistry is undeniable, and Ivy does a fantastic job of portraying their mutual respect and growing affection. Both characters are equally powerful, yet their dynamic feels balanced and natural. Ravyr’s unwavering dedication to Maya adds a layer of intensity and romance to the story.
Memorable lines from Ravyr, such as “Nothing would have stopped him from getting her to safety”; “The only place I have to be is where you lead me,” and “I couldn’t bear to live in a world where you didn’t exist,” highlight the depth of his feelings and his willingness to protect her at all costs, even when she insists she doesn’t need saving.
The book’s pacing kept me hooked from the first page, and the spice scenes are well-written, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the story. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Eternal Magic and can’t wait for the next installment in the series.
Enemies to Lovers is written oh so well! Also, second chance romance, in a way. The tension in this book was *chef's kiss* you could feel it through the pages! I highly recommend picking up this book or any from this series!
Eternal Magic by Alexandra Ivy
This is the third book in a Trilogy. At times, I felt like I needed to play “catch up” because I was missing a lot of Maya’s backstory. It seemed to take forever (40% of book) to get any of Maya’s past and, not having read the other books, I didn’t know if the previous books told some of it.
As the MC, Maya’s attitude of superiority and her discriminatory/racist attitude to other magical beings really made me dislike her. She came across as arrogant, aloof, elitist and entitled and yet those are the exact things that she had disdain for regarding the vampires. Ravyr, our vampire hero, I liked somewhat better.
The plot had alot of promise and I did speed through the story so I could see the end. But, all in all, this story was not for me…Too much description during heightened action which then slowed things down; a “love” story which interfered when they were in danger; a heroine who despises vampires but then wants one romantically; an arrogant heroine who despises arrogance in others….
It’s hard for me to truly like a story when I don’t really like the main character. So 3Stars from me on this advanced reader copy.
I loved this book it is so action packed with so excellent twists and turns that i didn't see coming. I enjoyed the storyline and Maya's love of helping mages learn the craft I also enjoyed Ravyr love for maya, the characters are well developed and I truly hope that she writes Tia's book I think it would be awesome.
Wow this is another great in the series, this series just gets better and better. Alexandra always manages to capture your interest and pull you into the book and he storyline. I will always auto buy an Ivy book because I know I am getting quality writing, amazing storylines and characters that grow and yet are realistic. I can't wait for book 4
4.5 - I have been honored to read all 3 books in this series. Maya has always been a strong character, so I was excited to have her story. I was not disappointed. I think this is my favorite of the series, so far.
The past is coming for you. Maya can’t believe that Ravyr is still alive. She saw him die but then again he is a vampire. Maya doesn’t need his help she can find out who wants to kill her by herself. Ravyr has missed his mage and this time he isn’t going to disappear. He has missed her and he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. They both fear that their old enemy is alive even though they both saw him die. Can they find out the truth about the past? Is there any hope for them? Is it time to stop fighting their attraction? A great read. Good characters even the mysterious Joe. Maya is a strong mage who wants to get on with her life but Ravyr has come to upset everything. Ravyr might be a old vampire but he knows that he only wants Maya and he isn’t walking away ever again. They make a good couple. Thank you Netgalley & the publisher for the copy. This is my voluntary review.
What a great writer, keeps you on the edge of your seat. When Maya the owner of the witches brew runs into Ravyr a vampire she thought long dead, the set out to find the one threatening Mayas life.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you for allowing me to review
Maya the owner of the Witches Brew is a very powerful mage with a firm dislike of vampires for a good reason. This is the 3rd book in the series and I for one was very excited to read it. Maya's life is in danger and along with Tia they need to find out quickly if the evil Batu is still alive or dead as they thought. In the process you get the chance to meet the one man or vampire that truly has Maya's heart and sole. Its a good story one that is hard to put down and leaves you wishing to read more about them.
In the mayhem that killed the evil Batu, his former slave, the mage Maya, was freed. She was quite sure the vampire Ravyr, seemingly a friend of her captor, was dead as well. Maya hadn’t known Ravyr had been undercover investigating Batu so she’s stifled the disconcerting undercurrent of attraction she had had for Batu’s guest. Forty-five years later Ravyr showed up just as an evil begins to emerge. And the evil smells like Batu. Maya and Ravyr must work together to stop it before it regains full power.
Maya is strong, a survivor. Yes, she’s scarred and vulnerable but she’s a kickass mage now. Along with being in love with Maya since he first saw her, Ravyr is proud of her, he admires her and it doesn’t take away from his Alpha maleness. In fact it makes him more attractive. Oh, and he’s hot! Luckily and most importantly for us readers their sex scenes are fierce and erotic.
Ivy does a brilliant job at world building. We meet mages and vampires and goblins and fairies all living under the radar from humans. She’s got it down perfectly in this, the third in her Magic for Hire series. However it can easily and satisfyingly be read alone. I’m sure folks will pick up the other two after having enjoyed this one!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Maya Rosen, a mage, was held captive for decades, having her magic draining by a vampire. She despises them. Now she owns the Witch’s Brew, where she serves coffee and pastries but also for select clients, magic. Someone is trying to kill her and a man who she thought was dead shows up. Ravyr is a vampire and knew Maya decades ago. Maya thought he’d perished when her master did. Ravyr is following a source of magic that leads right to Maya. He saves her from an explosion and work together to see who is trying to kill her. Maya still doesn’t trust Ravyr but with the past coming back to haunt them, he can help her.
I have no idea what to say about this story. Vampires. Mages. Demons. Secrets. Enemies. A little steamy. Good story. With some action. Enemies to lovers.
