She decides to return home to England to see her brother, Michael again. She has not seen him in many years. When she returns home, she secures a job as a companion to an elderly lady.
Edward after trying unsuccessfully to locate Elizabeth at the same place, decides to return to England in the hope of finding her there. Imagine their delight when the two meet once again! Elizabeth is now the companion to Edward’s aunt Millie and the two can renew their relationship.
A sweet romance that has you routing for the couple. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I received an ARC from the publishers and NetGalley and submit my review voluntarily.
Second chance romance is the best, and this one has so much more besides. Filled with intrigue and suspense, the ups and downs of this story will keep you reading well into the night. Lizzie is a widow who meets Baron Edward Sinclair (Sin) in America when she nurses him back to health, but she is forced to return to England and the two are parted. But Providence would bring them back together, as they embark on a very rocky road to their HEA. Family, evil doers, children and pets add much to this exciting adventure.
Second-Chance, Historical Romance with Suspense and Intrigue
Lizzie saved Edward when he was at death’s door. The two fell in love; However, he had a mission; she had to leave America. Edward would find his Lizzie, but there were evil forces intent on separating them.
This story kept me turning the pages. There was Lizzie's brother to find, a group of boys, bought and sold on the streets, a smuggling ring, and more treachery and other shenanigans. There was also the second chance Edward and Lizzie could have should they survive the evil hunting for them. I enjoyed this story and look forward to what comes next by this author.
Edward is committed to finding Lizzie. He can only assume she has come back to England. Lizzie only knows whaat her brother has told her and has gone to his friends to find a position that will help her stay afloat.
I enjoyed the semi intrigue in the book you all ready know how its going to end but it is interesting how the previous players isn’t he series fit not this book and it just fits perfectly. I am so glad they found each other. I have really enjoyed this series and look for ward to more by this author. The characters are all just down t earth type of peers whom I love to follow.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with guidelines.
The fourth in the series The Rakes of Mayhem is a really enjoyable story of Lizzie and Baron Edward Sinclair, Sin as his friends call him.
Riveting and Suspenseful! The Baron's Return is one emotional rollercoaster ride from beginning to end with an evil villain that will stop at nothing to get what he wants, even murder. This book is definitely one to put on your shelf to read again. With scenes are so strikingly detailed it paints an incredible backdrop that makes you feel like you are one with the story. Anna St. Claire has written a romance that brims with tension building twists and turns, remarkable emotions, filled it with a great cast of characters that I adored, they hold your attention as their individual personalities become more than just part of the tale they come off the pages and pull you into their story that keeps you involved until the very end, with a action packed plot that will keep you guessing, and as the the danger builds and intrigue escalate with secrets abound will keep you turning the pages until the very end.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
While in America, Mrs. Elizabeth Pritchett, a widow, saves the life of a British soldier. He promises to return after his mission. She waits, but circumstances dictate that she leave America and return to England. Baron Edward Sinclair is the soldier. He returns to Lizzie's house, but she is gone. Returning to England, he hopes he can find her. How lucky they are, when he finds her as the companion for his aunt. Their relationship is put on hold to stop a traitor to England. Lizzie's brother may be the key to his identity. Everything in the plot falls into place with very little angst. A clean sweet romance.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book from NetGalley.
Once again, the author whips up a confection of romance that's as heartwarming as it is hilarious. Meet Rowan Garrison, the dashing new seventh Earl of Sexton, notorious for his wild escapades. But when an earldom falls into his lap, he's nudged towards respectability. Cue Lady Lucy Tenet/Jeffries, a lady with a scandalous history and a penchant for animal welfare. Their encounter at a soiree kicks off a chain of comical yet endearing mishaps that draw them ever closer.
The story's mix of lovey-dovey moments and chuckles had me hooked from start to finish. Watching Rowan evolve from a charming rogue to a dignified earl, and Lucy's determination to shed her scandalous reputation, was nothing short of captivating. The duo of Rowan, with his suave allure, and Lucy, with her steadfast spirit, are a match made in literary heaven.
The author's knack for snappy banter and side-splitting scenarios lends a zesty flair to the tale, and let's not forget Ashe, the adorable fox that's just the icing on the cake. The author's tales are a wholesome blend of fun and heart, consistently featuring formidable heroines who don't just stand by their man—they stand up to him. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
The synopsis, in part, reads “He crossed an ocean to find her…” which reminded me of Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992) when Gary Oldman’s main character says “I’ve crossed oceans of time to find you” which is one of my favorite lines of all time. Therefore, I was immediately interested in this.
With mystery, danger, and action, this closed door romance kept my interest and kept me turning the pages. I adored Sin’s aunt Millie, her three cats, and Simon, Bobby, and their dog.
I enjoyed this one a lot.
Thank you to Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for the DRC
What an entertaining and well written love story. It had so much drama, action, intrigue, mystery, with other intense and exciting plot twists and turns that kept me engaged. The characters were complex and strong-willed. I enjoyed how a romance cut short found its way back despite everything and became a beautiful love. The ending was wonderful. I highly recommend reading!
A lovely tale of love, kindness, generosity and justice. The children and pets play a pivotal role.and it also has villains to add moments of danger for a wonderful evening of reading.

Very enjoyable story. Edward and Lizzie were a great couple and matched each other perfectly. Edward met Lizzie when he was on a secret mission in America. Unfortunately, he got very sick and ended up at Lizzie’s doorstep. She nursed him back to health, but he had to leave to complete his mission. When he returned back to Lizzie’s, she was gone back to London. He thought he had missed his chance with her, until he arrives back in London and finds out that she’s now his aunt’s companion. Fate has given him a second chance and he intends on not messing it up.
Baron Edward “Sin” Sinclair loves his country. But almost pays with his life on his latest mission… succumbing to the yellow fever that’s rife in this part of America. But luckily stumbles upon a home of a war widowed nurse. Who nurses him back to full strength, they grow close and Sin makes the lovely Elizabeth a promise to come back to her after he finishes his mission….
But how long do you wait? Feeling homesick, missing her brother and not being made welcome by her husband’s family. Lizzie decides to return to London and hopefully reconnecting with her brother.
Finding a job as a companion to the lovely “aunt Millie” Elizabeth settles down to London life.
By chance the pair meet up again at a Ball. And Elizabeth finds out that the old lady she’s a companion for is Sin’s aunt! What are the chances of that? She watches as debutantes flirt with Sin…..
But will they decide on just staying friends? Or will they let their feelings for one another flourish and grow into something more?
I loved all of the characters in this book. Aunt Millie made me chuckle. We have a cute dog. And a mystery or two that needs solving, we also have someone else interested in Lizzie! But she’s not interested, will they take the hint and leave her alone? Sin and Lizzie are so cute together, she’s definitely a nurturer and he’s a dashing hero.
This is a sweet story, so nothing happens on the page.
I’m definitely interested in going back to read the previous books, and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Loved it and reminds us there is always hope. One door closes and another opens. True love prevails and always will.
Well written, fast paced read. Full of love, drama, mystery, adventure, intrigue, chemistry, trust, friends, family and twists. Has a great group of characters- strong, complex, both bad and good to go along with this good storyline/plot. Edward "Sin" is in America when he gets sick with yellow fever. He seeks help at the home of a widowed woman - Elizabeth "Lizzie". He is there for awhile as she helps him recover. Before he returns to his business, he promises to seek her back out. After a period of time, she has to find a job in England and hopes to find her brother. When he returns to get her, he finds that she has left for England. She is hired to work for his Aunt Millie to his surprise. It's there that he finds her and the action and feelings between them sparks. Has some mystery and add in a villain before they get to their happily ever after. Would recommend to everyone.
I received this book and leave this unbiased, honest review.
This was a great book with great characters, children, a dog, and a some mystery. It didn't take long to read because I was engrossed in the story and wanted to know just how Blackwood was connected to Lizzie.
It starts with Edward Sinclair, known as Sin as those closest to him call him, showing up on the doorstep of Lizzie, a widow. He was sick with yellow fever and was out of his mind with his illness. She, being a compassionate soul, took him in and nursed him back to health. I do wish more time had been spent with this to show how they fell in love and also to show the extremes she went through to hide a single man in her house and the fallout from that. It is slowly revealed as the story unfolds.
But after Sin left her in Boston, Lizzie goes to England to find her brother, Michael. She hasn't seen him in years and he's her only family. He has some connection to the British military and when she inquires about him, the powers that be are evasive, making her think something is wrong.
Sin and Lizzie end up at the same ball and are reunited. Lizzie is his aunt's companion and Sin is close to his aunt. It was the perfect setup.
Sin is a spy and detective of sorts and is hot on a case that involves Lizzie, unbeknownst to her. The case heads in a direction that was unexpected and involved The Man. It was kind of spooky and made this a good read as the mystery unraveled and the truth was revealed.
At the end, I asked myself who the real hero was. Was it Sin, Simon, or Bobby? They each had a significant impact on the whole story and made this an enjoyable and entertaining yarn.
*This is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone novel. With that being said, I now want to go back and read the previous books in the series, so I can get the stories of the other characters.
This is a sweet story of love, loss and second chances. Baron Edward Sinclair (sin for short) works for the crown as an agent. His specialty is finding people. While on mission in America he gets yellow fever and almost dies. His saving grace was falling into Mrs. Elizabeth Pritchett’s cottage. Lizzie took him in and nursed him for over two months with the help of the local dr. A single woman even a widow should never have done this. The town folk shun her after her solider husband is killed. She has no one so she doesn’t care and could not let Sin die on her watch. After he is barely healed, still weak and thin he has to leave to finish his mission. He promised to came back for her. They have grown very close dealing his healing. When she runs out of money and has waited for months, she has no choice but to sell everything and return to London. She is very lucky and finds work as a companion to a lovely older lady. Lady Beadle is a hoot; she has loss her hearing and her husband but still lives each day fully. She has three cats she loves like her kids. Athena, Zeus and Venus. She never had children but has always been there for her niece and nephew. Sin, did return to Lizzie cottage but it was empty and she was gone. He is heartbroken not knowing where she went or how to find her. He returns to England for another mission. There is so much going on in this story, Lizzie and Sin may have a second chance, a very evil man wants her as his own. We have two wonderful boys, brothers, Simon and Bobby and their puppy, Josie who add to the story. We also get to meet up some of the characters from the other stories in this series. The books can all be read as standalone but nice to read in order. There are twist and turns, a kidnapping and danger. You will need to get a copy to see how it all works out. This is a clean story and any age group would enjoy it. I received an ARC from the author and wish to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am freely giving it.
This story was about a man that could not forget the woman on a different continent who saved his life!
We have Edward Sinclair a Baron who was on a mission to find his friend Romney before his father passed away!
He was overtaken by Yellow fever and Mrs. Lizzie Pritchett nursed him back to life!
Once he was well enough to leave and complete his mission he searched for her! Edward even returned for her but she went to London to find her brother Michael! Michael is her last living relative!
Edward comes to England still working for Wellington in a secret capacity!
He comes to a ball and sees the woman who has haunted his dreams!
With all of these men HEA is never smooth! Another has noticed the lovely Lizzie and this man is evil incarnate!
When another rescue mission involves Michael Edward realized he can not leave Lizzie behind again!
But there is a villain who won’t be stopped? Or can he by two young boys that used to be under his cruel hand! If you live adorable puppies and spirited cats this story has it all! Bravo! Now who’s next?
A heart warming, sweet story of healing in multiple manners. First Liz spends months nursing Sin back to health. As he must continue on with his mission, they part company. Liz returns to England as a companion and they meet again. They both have things from their past that need to be healed and dealt with. Add in a villain, a mystery or two, some extra drama, a terrific auntie, a dog and two very cute kids and you have a story that is thrilling and enjoyable from being to end. I love how the characters were developed, met and interacted with each other. A really well written story.
This is an engaging story with a great plot and wonderful characters. The (H), Baron Edward Sinclair
(Sin) and the (h), Mrs Lizzie Pritchett meet in America where Lizzie saves his life. They lose contact with each other, but fate brings them together again in England. A lot of drama, deceit and a evil villain plague the couple as they fight for their HEA. The secondary characters in this book carry the the story. Children, pets, and friends always add something special to the book and this author nailed it with lovable secondary characters who made this book more enjoyable for me. I liked this sweet romance and I think you will too.

I received an ARC of this book and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The opening chapters of this novel had me worried that Lizzie and Edward, having made a strong connection, would never find one another again. As the plot evolved, the events that followed their initial parting began to emerge, filling the gaps and answering my questions. Returning to England as a widow, Lizzie tries to forget about Edward, being more concerned about her missing brother and only relative. However, fate has a way of bringing the sweethearts together, although not without hurdles along the way. The love between the main characters is one built on mutual respect, and Lady Beadle brings a lighter touch to the plot. However, two little boys and their dog are ultimately the heroes of the day. I received a copy of this novel as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
