The narrator almost had me wall-banging this book. Due to the vast character count, I did not feel she could keep up with the individualities and made some characters come across as whiney if not plastic caricatures with bad accents. I ended up switching back to the Kindle edition to avoid having to listen. Definitely not a narrator that I would seek out in the future.

A Fatal Feast at Bramsford Manor had a promising start with its unique blend of mystery and supernatural elements. Despite its slow middle section, the book offers humor and intriguing characters, especially Granny Mac. It’s worth a read for fans of quirky cozy mysteries, but it might not be everyone's cup of tea.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Lots of humor and just enough mystery to kaap it exciting.

This first entry in a new series is a unique premise for a cozy mystery that still allows for all of the usual elements - cast of quirky characters, house with a history, amateur detective. I thoroughly enjoyed this cast of characters and hope the author finds a way to keep them together in future books. The mystery was interesting as well.

The narration was fine. Some people seem to have an issue with the accents, but I didn't notice them much.

Thank you to #NetGalley and #TantorAudio for a free copy of #AFatalFeastAtBramsfordManor by Darci Hannah. All opinions are my own.

A Fatal Feast at Bramsford Manor is the first cozy mystery in the Food & Spirits Mysteries series. Bunny MacBride is a chef who is about to get her big break with the premiere of a new reality TV show called Food & Spirits. She’s happy to be on the show, but it’s nothing like how she expected her big debut to go. The spirits in the shows title are the ghostly type of spirits and not at all what Bunny signed on for. When Bunny and the rest of the cast arrive at Bramsford Manor to start their show they get more than they bargained for. They are there to investigate a tragic death from hundreds of years ago, but the mystery might just strike closer to home than any of them expected. Now Bunny and the rest of the cast are in a race against time to get to the bottom of the mystery before the present day killer strikes again.

I have enjoyed other mysteries I’ve read by Darci Hannah and thought this new series was worth a try. This first mystery in the series was a good set up to what will hopefully be a great series. The mystery kept me guessing until the very end and I enjoyed the twists and turns along the way. The ghostly element was a great addition to this series and I look forward to seeing what else is done with it in future mysteries. The start of this mystery was a little slow, but that’s to be expected from the first mystery in a series as the scene and characters are set up. Overall this was an enjoyable read and I look forward to seeing what else comes for Bunny and the Food & Spirits gang in future mysteries.

I listened to the audiobook and I am amazed with the narrator! She switched back and forth between characters with different accents like it was nothing! This was a great start to a new series and I highly recommend it for cozy fans, especially those that have already read other series by Darci Hannah- you may find characters you already met!

I have a new favorite whimsical cozy mystery and I can't wait for more travel and mysteries for Bunny and the "Food & Spirits" gang! The book should come with a warning though as it will make you hungry with all the great food they describe during the food part of "Food & Spirits!" The best is how they work the ghosts into the mystery with this cast of wonderful ghost hunters! This first book really set a solid foundation by introducing us to the main characters that are fun, quirky, unique and lovable. The mystery in this book is intriguing as they are trying to unravel the mystery of the ghost, but they also are in a race to unravel a current murder to salvage their show and their reputations! It's a fun read that captures you and keeps you reading. In my case, I listened to the audiobook and I am absolutely thrilled that I did. The narration was outstanding and I can definitely say that this series is now on my must listen list! It's whimsical fun that helps lift me out of reality and into a great escape!

eBook [Hoopla] - 4 Stars

This is my first Darci Hannah book, but it will absolutely not be my last!!

What I liked:
* The premise and setting. Such a fun mix of those who believe in ghosts and spirits and those who don't. I also liked how they used food to draw out the spirits as well [I hope there is more of that in book 2].
* Bunny and Granny Mac. I might have liked the "lads" more, but the narration was...[more on that later].
* The mystery. I knew who the killer was early on, but not the [VERY BIG] why, so I will take that as a win!!
* No tedious repetition [which is a real crisis in mysteries right now]. This was a GINORMOUS win for me.

What didn't work for me:
* The narration. Her British/Scottish is absolutely amazing and I loved those, even if she struggled to remember who had which voice [this is NOT shade. I am, as always, in awe of anyone who can do narration, even the ones that don't resonate with me. I cannot even imagine trying to keep all the characters AND their voices straight, but I would be remiss if I didn't say something about this as it did affect my listening experience], but her American voices left much to be desired [especially Giff's flamboyant "voice"] and I had a tough time connecting with the "lads" because of it. If there is a book 2, I am hoping some of this smooths out because it WAS distracting.
* The semi-rushed reveal. I will never, ever be a fan of that. Also, there were two things going on at once and we never really got to "see" how the second thing was resolved and I was really looking forward to that and to Giff having to...well, lead. ;-) That was a bit disappointing.

I do hope there is a second book because even with my issues with the narration, this was a really good read; I never once wanted to skip ahead, the mystery [even with me knowing the killer] kept me engaged, I really connected with Bunny, and that end? SO unexpected [cue: HUGE tears], but truly almost perfect.

Well done.

Fun new first in series with a slight mention to the Beacon Bakeshop Series, which is a favorite of mine.

Very character driven! The characters were easily likeable and relatable. The narrator really added something more.

I always enjoy a mystery within a bigger mystery when the past meets the present. The paranormal elements were just enough.

Look forward to more in the series.

Bunny thinks her dreams are coming true! She’s gonna be on a tv food show called “Food and Spirits”. Of course thinking the “spirits” are alcoholic drinks paired with the food she’ll be making. However, the “spirits” is ghost hunting. She’s determined to roll with it when they arrive at their first location and hear about the legend that haunts their location. And then someone ends up murdered. Bunny ends up being the prime suspect since it was her knife that was used and she found the body. She’s now in a mission to prove herself innocent while also solving the legend that is 300 years old.

This was an audio ARC. I really enjoyed the book and the premise. I thought it was well thought out and had me guessing right to the end. I was not thrilled with the narrator. It felt like some of the voices the narrator was doing didn’t seem to fit the characters. And bunny is Scottish and the narrator kept going in and out of a Scottish accent throughout the book. 😬😬 not sure if that was intentional but it was distracting. Overall an enjoyable book that I would recommend to other lovers of cozy mysteries!

Thank you to Netgalley for this audio ARC in exchange for an honest review!

The first in a new series, this cozy mystery follows TV chef Bunny MacBride. She has just landed a spot on a cooking series that, to her dismay, involves a paranormal aspect. The show's first episode is being filmed at a haunted English manor hotel, where a murder occurs shortly after filming begins. Bunny and the rest of the cast launch their own investigation, with the help of Bunny's clairvoyant grandmother, to solve the mystery and put the manor's ghosts to rest.

I enjoyed the story here, and the characters were a lot of fun. I thought the ending was a pleasant surprise. There was more to it than I expected. I'm hoping to get my hands on the next installments. I listened to the audio and thought the narrator was decent, except I found her portrayal of a couple of characters to be a bit annoying.

Bridget MacBride, aka Bunny, is a Scottish transplant to the US and is a sous chef. When she is offered her own opportunity to host a cooking show, she doesn't realize that she's signing on to be the cooking part of a ghost hunting show. The problem is she always avoids ghosts and/or anything remotely paranormal.

Chef Bunny is finally talked into doing the show assured that she will be protected.
So she teams up with ghost hunter Brett Bloom and psychic medium Giff McGrady and they are off to visit haunted site around the world. The goal is to tempt ghosts to join them for a feast!
The first feast of “Food & Spirits” is planned for Bramsford Manor, an historic manor in Hampshire, England turned into a haunted hotel.
The estate is said to be home to the Mistletoe Bride, a young woman who died in the 18th century, on her Christmas wedding night.

I loved Bunny and the story about the Mistletoe Bride – oh yes it had me curious.
Oh plus Granny Mac is a fun addition to this story.

Want to thank NetGalley and Tantor Audio for this early audiobook.
Publishing Release Day was September 24, 2024.

I really enjoyed this cozy mystery book. These are usually always my favorites to listen to. I liked this one and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I really enjoyed this audiobook. It had some intriguing characters, multiple mysteries to be solved, and greater depth than most cozy mystery books. The audiobook was wonderfully narrated and very engaging. I found the reality formatted cooking/ghost-hunting show to be a really fun backdrop for the events that took place., and the way in which the various threads came together was clever. This is the first book that I have read by Darci Hannah, but it seems that this is the start of a series, and I look forward to the further adventures of Bunny and the ghost-hunting crew! Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this audiobook.

Thank you NetGalley and Trantor Audio for the ARC of this audiobook for my honest review

Amazing murder mystery with delicious descriptions of food, and a really cool Scottish accent in the audio book. I wouldn’t say the American accents were at all good but Scottish and English was haha. About the book itself though I loved the characters , the location was so interesting, the mystery was so intriguing and I had no idea who it was till they told me so it was really well done. I recommend this to anyone who loves a murder mystery with some great mysteries and twists and loves food!

I'll be publishing my review on Goodreads and StoryGraph 11th October and on Tik tok most likely will add to a monthly wrap up post with review the beginning of November.

Love the combo of food and spirits (like where is this show in real life?). The characters are likeable and entertaining. Lead character Bunny is a chef and has just started a new job working on a TV show about ghost hunting and food. Unknown to her co-hosts is her personal ability to see and communicate with spirits after her own near-death experience. Looking forward to future adventures with Bunny in the Food & Spirits Mysteries series.

Thank you to NetGalley and RBmedia for the audiobook copy for review!

I read all Darci Hannah's Beacon Bakeshop Mysteries when they come out and they are always fun and clever.. The Food and Spirits series' premise seemed like it would be just as fun and I was not disappointed.
'A Fatall Feast at Bramsford Manor centers around a group of ghost hunters who have teamed up with a television food network to create a reality tv show featuring a professional chef who prepares a special dinner for the ghost hunters and the ghost that will hopefully be joining them for dinner.
Chef Bunny MacBride is well on her way to an impressive career with a regular guest segment on a top cooking show. She's fully left her past and Scotland behind, along with her family's legacy of clairvoyance. To avoid her own possible supernatural skills, she keeps as far away from everything spooky. When her scheming celebrity chef boss learns of her aversion to even the mildest allusion to the macabre she sees an opportunity to mess with the upandcoming chef's career.
That's how Bunny unknowingly ends up as a co-star to a ghost hunter rather than a mixologist on a new show called 'Food and Spirits'. On her first trip with her new show, she ends up right back in Scotland attempting to suppress the familial onnection to the sprit world she'd crossed the Atlantic to escape. Unfortunately, when she is accused of murder she must accept her gifts and her grandmother's help to clear her name and also solve a centuries old mystery along the way.
I couldn't put this audiobook down. The characters were highly entertaining and the plot was intriguing. Hannah did a really good job of weaving together the ghostly mystery and the present day mystery without letting the supernatural aspects take away from.the resolution of the main mystery. It's an easy listen with fun narration and I'll definitely be picking up the next book in the series.

"A Fatal Feast at Bramsford Manor (A Food and Spirits Mystery #1)" by Darci Hannah is the first book in, what I hope, is a new series. Bridget MacBride, aka Bunny, is a Scottish transplant to the US and a tv sous chef when she is offered her own hosting opportunity. She doesn't realize that she's signing on to be the cooking part of a cooking and ghost hunting show. The problem being that she's been avoiding ghosts and anything remotely paranormal.

We also get the guys from the ghost hunting show that visits Beacon Harbor in the "Murder at the Pumpkin Pageant (Beacon Bakeshop Mystery #4)." There also seems to be a tie in with them and Griff to Darci Hannah's other cozy mystery series, "A Very Cherry Mystery." I haven't read that series yet, so I'm not sure of what book that connects to specifically.

The mystery is much more paranormal than the Beacon Harbor ones. Bunny, and later her grandmother joins them, are able to communicate with ghosts and spirits. Bunny doesn't want to accept this about herself but a little white ghost rabbit keeps making her get involved. Together with her grandmother and the ghost guys they solve the mystery of the Mistletoe Bride and a more current murder. Are the two linked? It kept me guessing.

I enjoyed the narration of this audiobook. The reader did a great job with the different characters and accents.

I liked the unique spin on the cozy mystery but it did take me a bit of time to get into the storyline. Think I’ll need another book to see how the characters evolve.

This had everything I love in a cozy mystery (or in any book): travel to a fabulous setting with a fascinating history, mouthwatering meals that teach you more about the setting, fun characters, and ghosts; all of this made for a fantastic start to a new series. The mystery was well-paced and had me guessing the whole time. I can’t wait to see where they visit next!

The audio is well done and really draws you into the story.
