Asher Tyler, the Earl of Rowley is a confirmed bachelor with a penchant of avoiding all things commitment-related and has survived for a long time escaping the parson's noose. Now his mother has been increasingly pressuring Asher to get married and set up his nursery as soon as possible.

Mrs. Patience Moore, a young widow who was married to a soldier and followed him when he was in active service. Unfortunately, this led to her father disowning her as his daughter when she disobeyed her parents and insisted on marrying the soldier! Now back in London and living with her friend Cassandra, who wants to pay for Mrs. Dove-Lyon to find a suitable match for Patience. Mrs. Dove-Lyon insists that Patience must go to her parents and seek their forgiveness for disobeying them in the first place, which led to the estrangement.

A "chance" meeting at the Lyon's Den with Mrs. Dove-Lyon leads these two to meet and feel an instant attraction. A series of events lead them to finally realising that they are perfect for each other and finally have their HEA.

He Stumbles, But Will He Fall?

Their journey started when Patience saved Asher from falling. He stumbled, but he did not fall, or did he? His fall was not a physical one, but while Patience saved him from possible physical harm, she stole his heart. He did not intend to marry; would love change his mind? There were challenges ahead. A villain intended to harm Asher. Then, there was his brother, who also found himself falling in love with Patience. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it.

Another great story from the Lyon's Den. I loved Patience and Asher. From their first meeting to their happily ever after, they had a connection that didn't waiver. I also enjoyed the side character. It definitely added dimension and intrigue.

He is only interested in a non-commital relationship. She wants to marry for love. Can They reconcile their two beliefs into one?
I have always enjoyed the Lyons Den. This book is no different. Sherry Ewing has actually made this a series inside a series. Veery intriguiging how she has gathered all the know how into this series with cameos of the Black widow and previous club members. I have really enjoyed seeing these widows, who are best friends through their own different circumstances, become wonderfully matched in the win love stories. These can be read as standalone book but if you enjoy the book you will definitely want to read the previous Lyon books by Sherry Ewing.

Asher Tyler, Earl of Rowley, has protected himself from the marriage mart until he falls into the arms of Mrs. Patience Moore on the stairs at the Lyon's Den. They flirt, keep their names secret and fall for each other. A beautifully written story of flirtation, love, a bit of jealousy (from a n Eton foe) and appearances of characters from two previous books by Ewing in the Lyon's Den series.

Mrs. Dove Lyon's matchmaking brings Asher and Patience together, but the road is not easy., but we always get an HEA from Bessie. I'm looking forward to Cassandra's story. She's given the ladies in her Wicked Widows club their happiness, now it's her turn.

I really enjoy reading any The Wicked Widows club! The fact that the ladies are older than the usual debutante in historical romance is a plus. Patience and Asher's story, or Persephone and Hades', did not disappoint. I cannot wait yet I am sad for the final widow story.

Always a pleasure to read another Lyon's Den book. An earl has no desire to marry. A widow is ready to remarry. Mrs. Dove-Lyon has her own plans. From their first meeting there is a spark, but complications arise from his brother and an old enemy. Keep in mind Mrs. Dove-Lyon is always successful. Clean romance.

Third book on this series of friends with one more to go . This story was ok - I liked that our heroine was a nurse but there seem to be a lot of side stories going on for such a short story - vs actually building the relationship- really more of a love/lust at first sight

Mrs. Dove-Lyon does another successful matchmaking for the Wicked Widows Club in Only a Lyon Will Do. Asher, the Earl of Rowley has no intentions to marry until he finds a mysterious lady in his arms and the only name she will give him "Persephone". Sherry Ewing brings back characters from her other stories which lets you keep in touch with them. The characters come off the pages and pulled me into their tale, it's a sweet romance, with a villain that causes some drama and with an enjoyable plot that brings this read together perfectly!

Good book. Asher Tyler has maintained his carefree bachelor life by steering clear of each Season's marriage-minded misses while watching two of his best friends fall to Mrs. Dove-Lyon's matchmaking efforts. He and his friend Lucius are the only ones unwed and are determined to stay that way. Then Asher encounters a woman who catches his attention, and he can't forget her.

Patience is a widow and member of the Wicked Widows Club. She is not particularly wicked, but her reputation suffered when she eloped with her late husband and her father disowned her. She lives with her friend, Cassandra, who pays Mrs. Dove-Lyon's matchmaking fees to find Patience a husband. Patience is willing but wants to find a man she can love, a man very different than the one she encountered at the Lyon's Den.

I enjoyed watching Asher and Patience's relationship develop. The sparks between them are evident from the start, but Asher stubbornly hangs on to his bachelorhood while Patience is wary of trusting him with her heart. Mrs. Dove-Lyon does a masterful job of throwing them together without them realizing her involvement. Each encounter increases the sparks between them. Complications occur when Asher's brother, Gideon, expresses his interest in her. The possibility of losing Patience to another man opens his eyes to his feelings for her. I liked his efforts to win Patience's heart and earn her trust.

There is some trouble when an old enemy of Asher's seeks revenge. His actions add an element of danger that threatens to come between Asher and Patience. Some tense moments occur near the end, but the resolution is very satisfying.

The ending is excellent. I enjoyed Lucius's comments about preserving his freedom, especially in view of the epilogue. There, we see that Mrs. Dove-Lyon has him in her crosshairs. I can't wait for the author's next Lyon's Den book. I'd also like to see Gideon get a happy ending himself.

A bit of a different twist on the Dove-Lyon series but a lovely read even with the difference. This story is a closed door romance with a lovely widow, Patience and a confirmed bachelor, Asher. Well written and entertaining as these two are attracted to each other but maybe not yet ready to commit. Love the secondary characters as well. Dove-Lyon books are always on my favorite list and I anxiously watch for that next one.

I enjoyed this instalove romance. The plot is nice and well written, with very likeable characters, a villain, a touch of suspense and a closed-door love scene in the marital bed. Some of the secondary characters were already familiar to me from the author's previous books in the series. I really like Cassandra and am looking forward to her own story.

Once again Cassandra Vaughn from the Wicked Widow’s Club wants to restore a friend's reputation by arranging an advantageous marriage to a lord, and hires Mrs Dove-Lyon's matchmaking service to find a suitable husband for the widowed Patience Moore.
Patience lost her first husband, with whom she eloped at the time, in the war and was disowned by her family. At the time, she found shelter with her socially ostracised friend Cassandra, with whom she has lived ever since. Now she is also ready to seek new happiness in marriage and agrees to accept the help of the Black Widow of Whitehall and to to her terms to improve her reputation, including working as a nurse in a private hospital.
One evening at Lyon's Den, Patience meets Asher Tyler, Earl of Rowley, and falls head over heels in love with him.
Asher is also immediately attracted to the mysterious woman, but he has no thoughts of giving up his bachelor life or falling into Mrs Dove-Lyon's trap. But when Asher realises that Patience is the nurse his invalid brother has also fallen in love with or she might find another match, he starts to rethink his plans, in case it's not too late...

If you like hesitating rakes and widows longing for a second chance, you are sure to enjoy this book!

Asher Tyler, Earl of Rowley, has guarded his life as a carefree bachelor by avoiding romantic entanglements and the debutantes of each Season. When his world is turned upside down by a mysterious woman who saves him from a fall, Asher wishes to know her better but she refuses to reveal her identity.
Mrs. Patience Moore, a widow with a complicated past and ties to the Wicked Widow's Club, was disowned by her merchant father when she married without his consent. Now a widow, she lives with her friend, Cassandra, who pays the matchmaking fees of the infamous Mrs. Dove-Lyon, the Widow of Whitehall, to find a husband for Patience. Mrs. Dove Lyon's matchmaking brings Asher and Patience together, but the road is complicated. Asher insists he isn’t interested in marriage, his brother is vying for Patience's affection, and an enemy from Asher’s past is seeking revenge.
A well written novella & a heartwarming romance. I really liked both Asher & Patience & read their story in a sitting. The chemistry between the couple was hot but Patience took time to trust Asher. He falls hard for Patience & works hard to win her. There’s some tense moments as an enemy of Asher’s tries his best to jeopardise their burgeoning romance, I would have liked to have found out what punishment the villain received. An enjoyable romance & it was good to catch up with the other Wicked Widows

Confirmed bachelors and rakes are always a challenge to Bessie in the Lyons Den.
Asher does not wish to marry leaving his younger brother Gideon who has been wounded in the war to carry on the title of Earl in the future.
But an unexpected encounter with Patience slowly changes his mind.
Truly fun banter between Persephone and Hades aka Patience and Asher.
Enjoyable fun as Patience is the third lady that Cassandra has helped find a husband.
Sweet clean romance. Read alone or as part of series.

This heartwarming romance touched my heart as widowed Patience Moore finds her place in society once again. With the help of her close friend and supporter, together with the Widow of Whitehall, Patience finds herself at the Lyon's Den. Coming face to face with Asher, Earl of Rowley, Patience is surprised to find herself responding to him in a way that is completely unlike her. Asher has sworn off marriage, and although he moves through society with lighthearted grace, he nevertheless has generated enemies he was not even aware of. With his brother still recovering from his dreadful wartime ordeal, Asher is prepared to buckle down and take responsibility for his family, that is until he discovers that the beauty he met at the Lyon's Den in the last place he expected to find her. With Mrs. Dove-Lyon working her magic, the novel comes to a happy conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

It always amazes me how an author can knit a story together so seamlessly and have it come out so beautifully! This author does that easily! Asher and Patience have a such a chemistry that sparks the minute they meet and never lets go. It was heartwrenching to watch Asher’s brother go through his trauma both from the war and in the hospital. (Truly hope he gets his own story) I adored the scene between Patience’s family and her and the villain is truly a very creepy! A wonderful addition to the Lyon’s Den! Can’t wait to see Cassandra’s story!

I received this story for free and these are my own opinions

Hades and Persephone; Not Quite.
I am torn about just how and what to say about this Lyons' Den story.
If you like sweet, intriguing characters with cute tantalizing banter and a few sweet kisses that leads to a happy ending then consider this is a good story.
This is not the typical matchmaking high stakes game Mrs. Dove Lyon plays on the unsuspecting rake that finds himself in a very passionate highly powered romantic marriage.
I for one thought it lacking and it could have been so, so much more with just a little bit more effort in the alluring desirous situations which should have brought on a sparkling sizzling romance.
This is a very short story with sweet characters, and I really enjoyed the story, but I did feel disappointed that it is not up to par with the Lyons Den series.

Widow Patience is convinced by her friend that she must remarry. When she is at the Lyon’s Den to talk to Mrs. Dove-Lyon, she bumps into Tyler. Though Tyler denies he is looking for a wife, he can’t help his attraction to the widow. Can Patience trust that Tyler is truly ready to settle down?
