*Contact* by Laurisa White Reyes is an intriguing science fiction novel that explores themes of communication and connection beyond the Earth. The story follows a teenager, Cassie, who discovers an alien message and becomes embroiled in a government conspiracy. Reyes does a great job blending elements of suspense, technology, and personal growth, making the novel both thought-provoking and fast-paced. The characters are relatable, and the plot keeps readers hooked with unexpected twists. While the pacing can occasionally feel uneven, the overall premise and the way Reyes explores human emotions and interactions with alien life is compelling. It's a solid choice for fans of sci-fi and YA thrillers.

Unfortunately I did not enjoy this story or the characters and it made it difficult for me to connect to the book.

The writing was well done but the overall storyline was simply not for me!

It was a fast paced read that was so well written. Reyes writing kept me hooked, and kept me guessing until the end. Mira was also a strong and beautifully written heroine.

This is a paranormal story with a relatable character and what grabbed my attention was the beautiful cover. I went into it blindly and I was surprised by the themes that are tackled in it.

Mira is a complex character with a load on her shoulders that weights even more on her heart and mind. I liked the premise and I liked the mystery even better.

There were a few things that seemed not to fit, or to be out-of-character, some twists were predictable and the romance I could have done without, but the overall story was exciting and entertaining.

This title just wasn't for me.

This book was reviewed on my blog a very long time ago. Since then I have migrated to a new blogging home and this review is either hiding in my archives or somewhere in the ether. (Sad times)
