3.5 stars.
For decades, Meddlesome Marge has been spying on her neighbors Doris and Bob, reporting every sordid thing she sees to her husband, Harold. Flamboyant Doris and boring Bob are an odd couple, but as Marge watches their comings and goings, she starts to wonder if there’s more than meets the eye. Soon enough, Marge learns that digging into her suspicions means digging herself into a very deep hole.
Fun, short and sweet! This was part of the Busybodies collection of quirky mysteries featuring amateur gumshoes who stumble upon peculiar cases, and was super short at less than one-hour listening time.
While I’m not usually a fan of short stories, this one captured my attention immediately, and I was hooked. I couldn’t guess where it’d go at all. Of course, I finished it in one sitting! I’d recommend this for a quick listen during your commute (just don’t miss your stop!)
3.5 ⭐️ this one was so so fun! one of my favorites from this collection of novellas so far. senior nosy/bickering neighbors turned murderous? this had me giggling and was a fun listen. i would recommend if you need something quick & easy to meet your reading goal, also the narrator did a perfect job and made the book really come to life
I really enjoyed this short story and the audio narration was also excellent. However, I felt like the ending (intentionally!) left a bit to be desired or was a bit open-ended though in a chilling way! I can just see how it won't work for everyone.
Classic elderly busybody!! If you love Molly, you'll love Marge, although this one is darker than the Molly series. Doris asks Marge to watch her house while on vacation, which works perfectly since Marge has been spying on her for years. I laughed out loud and would love to see a full-length story about Marge and Doris! I love Sherri Slater's performance as the elderly neighbors! 4.5 ⭐️
I didn't really care for this one to be honest, nothing spectacular, it didn't wow me or impress me. The idea was good, but I wanted more in the execution.
This was a short and sweet story in typical Prose fashion. I enjoyed the humor and the characters and like the easy mystery at the heart of the story.
Marge is the meddlesome neighbor spying on all around her. When Marge’s long-time neighbor Doris takes up a new hobby, Marge grows concerned something far more sinister afoot.
Coming in at around 30 pages, this short story packs a mighty powerful punch! While Prose usually writes cozy mysteries, this had a little more of a thriller/Hitchcock vibe that worked so perfectly in this story. The characters were insanely well developed for a short story and the ending was chef’s kiss. Definitely give this one a listen!

Marge is always keeping an eye on her neighbor Doris’s home. Doris is a little extra, and her husband Bob is very much…not. When they head to Spain for flamenco dancing lessons, Marge watches their house and notices some things…amiss.
This was a quick and fun story! I loved Marge and her intense neighborhood watch. I was excited to see Nita as a part of this series because I just love her and this short story was the perfect addition to her books. I enjoyed this short story immensely!
The narration is spectacular but as with the rest of this series, I was bored and didn’t connect with nor care about the characters or what was happening at allll
I'm not always a fan of short stories, but I've been picking up the stories in this collection to fill a little time and haven't read them together.
And OMG I live next to a Marge. Needs to know everyone's business. She's a quirky old lady meddling in her neighbor's business.
If you like a little dark humor with a little intrigue, this should entertain you.
Sherry Slater narrated this one and she fit the quirky dark humor and sounded like I imagined Marge.

This was an entertaining quick read about a nosy neighbor, but which neighbor exactly is the nosy one? 🤔
Marge and Doris have lived near each other for over 50 years and they love to hate each other. Marge sees everything Doris and her husband Bob do, and reports it to her husband, Harold. One day, Doris informs Marge that she and Bob are going on a trip and asks her to watch the house. Marge is very happy to oblige. She’d love to get a look inside Marge and Bob’s home.
Marge’s nosiness is working! She has discovered something and has to report it immediately. The rest is for you to find out once you read this quick, fun, mysterious little gem. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator, Sherri Slater, is so good! She sounds just like a little old nosy lady! Perfect as a palate cleanser between books. It’s about one hour on audio.

If you like cozy mysteries featuring nosy neighbors who are seniors and a bit of anamosity between neighbors for no reason other than they are both nosy, definitely pick this one up and give it a shot! It was such a fun little short story and would definitely recommend!
“The Nosy Neighbor” is one of six short stories featured in the “Busybodies Collection” from Amazon Original Stories and Brilliance Publishing. I absolutely adore Nita Prose’s “Molly the Maid” series and was so excited to find this new short story. In 24 pages—just 57 minutes on audio—Prose delivers a fun mystery with an enjoyable plot and surprising twists. Of the six stories, this was probably my favorite. The audiobook narrated by Sherri Slater really set it apart. She was the perfect voice for Marge, and her tone and pacing built suspense and captured Prose’s humor.

I love a good short story collection.
Particularly, when there’s a good theme throughout.
While I don’t think that’s how anaphylaxis works, The Nosy Neighbour by Nita Prose was tight, funny, and DARK.
Homicidal tendencies aside, I’d definitely have got along better with Doris, over Marge.
Thanks to NetGalley and Brilliance Publishing for this tasty morsel.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
This is classic busy body behavior. Always watching out the window, always speculating. Fits perfectly in this series. It was narrated by Sherri Slater but I swear I thought it was Sally Field at times.
Thank you Brilliance Audio for the audiobook!
This one was super fun and maybe my favorite of the 6 in the series. They do not need to be read in order and can be read as standalones!
Nita always writes the most fun and lovable characters (like Molly the maid) and I'll read anything she writes
The narrator did a great job at making this a fun and easy listen!

The Nosy Neighbor by Nita Prose is part of Busybodies - a collection of short, quirky mysteries.
I'm a big Nita Prose fan so I was excited to see her featured in this series. The Nosy Neighbor did not disappoint. I love that the story was focused on older women. I definitely didn't see the final twist coming.
If you're into dark humor, cozy mysteries and amateur sleuths, this one's for you.
