While the advice for many may be exactly what they want/need to hear, I found the choices the author made a little too self serving. While it is important to keep your goals and dreams front and center, it may lead some to be selfish. with a lack of regard to relationships and the benefits of some personal sacrifice to serve and honor those we are in relationships with.

This one just wasn’t quite a fit for me although there are some moments where getting out of a bad situation is important. Feeling empowered to do so may be perfect for others.

Interesting and inspiring read. The author shares her own stories and how she's learned and grown to step into living her first-choice life. Also gives tips on how you can do the same.

The beautifully serene cover of this book drew me in, and the subtitle: Advocate for Your True Self and Live Your Dreams, promised an exciting experience. I found that the book focused heavily on the writer’s experiences, and didn’t seem to pertain to me. The questions and advice might be more suited to those with limited experience reading self-help books, who may better accept and appreciate the author’s viewpoint.

Thank you Greenleaf and Netgalley for an ARC of this book in return of my honest review.

First-Choice Life asks the reader to consider if they are being true to themselves and living their life based on this truth and their values or if, they have become a person living their second choices. Life through second choices can occur slowly over time, and through a number of reasons including making sacrifices for others.

Each chapter has shares an example from the authors life and ends with a question/s for the reader.
I found some of the questions helpful to reflect upon. Other questions I felt impractical for what I was hoping out of the book. For example “what was your experience of school?”

This book is suited to those of faith who may be new to explore getting to know themselves better, through the lens of the authors personal experiences.

For readers who have previously read a variety of self-development books this book sadly falls short. I found the author’s examples in each chapter to be too long and overly personal , detracting from the premise of the book. I would have much preferred the book to focus on deeper questions. I personally feel this book may have been better to be marketed as partial memoir or made much shorter and more focused,
