A romance book with heart in more ways than one, I cannot help but scream from the rooftops that “Any Trope But You” is THE romance book for anyone who’s lost hope in their own HEA. I instantly fell in love with all of the characters, from Margot and Forrest to their family, friends, and guests. I couldn’t help but FLY through this book. Listen. My sleep schedule is NOT my fault, blame Victoria. It’s ENTIRELY her fault that I was reading until 5 am last night when I had class at 11 and a meeting at 10. I still made it to those things but a little worse for wear. However it was 100% worth it. I loved every second of this book and the pacing was so well done. One of the few books I don’t believe should be any longer or shorter, but is perfect the way it is. I only wish this could be the beginning of an interconnected standalone series. Victoria is one of my new favorite authors and I can’t wait to see what else she writes.

Side note: I realized upon posting this review that Any Trope But You releases on my birthday and that just is so perfect for me

I am upset right now. Upset because this book does not come out for another SIX months and I have to sit and wait for the rest of the world to be able to enjoy this masterpiece. I have read a lot of rom-coms in my life, even ones where the trope is "romance author meets man who is a walking, talking book boyfriend." I can honestly say that Lavine has knocked all the tropes out of the park. I greatly appreciate her dynamic supporting characters, as well as her relatable FMC. Don't even get me started on Forrest, oooooweeee. I may have even shed a tear near the end.
I can't sing high enough praises about "Any Trope but You".

A really nice read! I don’t think anything about it stuck out to me too much, but I really enjoyed the characters and thought their conflicts were pretty realistic, expect for the situation that catalyzes the entire premise of the book. A romance author is discovered to not believe in true love and gets cancelled on the internet to the point where she needs to unplug at a remote cabin in Alaska? Is that actually how being cancelled on the internet works? Why would her fans care if she still puts out a good book? If anyone has experienced a similar situation please drop a comment below and let me know what I’m missing.

Can a person/author be a happy place? If so, I think mine is officially Victoria Lavine. Any Trope but You may be a debut novel but I would never peg it as one, and Margot and Forrest's story stole my heart. The title is quite literal in the respect that this book is jam PACKED with the standard romance tropes, and Margot as a romance author definitely thinks Forrest is too good to be true. There is some excellent sexual tension between the two and my god did things get spicy.

Not only did I ugly cry during the ending, but I also teared up multiple times and it’s kind of ridiculous how beautiful Lavine made this book. There is chronic pain rep (so important!) and a sisterly bond between Margot and Savannah that will probably make some people jealous. You can tell that the author loves the romance community, and this is basically a love letter to romance readers everywhere. I loved every minute of this moving and hilarious read, and I will definitely be buying a finished copy once it is out in the world.

I've read a lot of romance this year again--which is super out of characteristic for post-middle school me. But even still, this story and these characters are by far my favorite book I've read this year. I laughed, I cried, I swooned. ANY TROPE BUT YOU was about Margot Bradley rediscovering Happily Ever Afters but it also helped me rediscover my love for romance.

As the title implies, so many tropes are scattered throughout the pages of this book, but they feel so real. Victoria, hats off to you for your amazing ability to create such beautifully imperfect and so wonderfully human characters.

There is so much love in the words of this book that no matter which type you're reading for, you'll find it and it'll fill your heart right up.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Atria Books for an eARC of this snow-melting love story.

I really enjoyed this romantic comedy. The characters, the setting, and the plot all came together and seemed like a fresh spin on the genre.

This is my first book by Victoria Lavine and there was so much in it that I liked (the snappy dialogue was delightful!) but even more that just didn’t hook me.

Remember, just because it wasn’t my favorite doesn’t mean it won’t be yours so always give it a go!

My biggest gripe is that I felt like the whole first half of the book is the characters telling us (via inner monologue) how amazingly attractive and sooooo hot, and ‘wow, everything that I’ve ever wanted,’ but the chemistry just is not there when they interact ☹️. I really wanted to love it since the whole moose thing really grabbed me at first 🤣. Margot is just THE best writer and has no idea just how amazing she is…and the trope idea is cute but it gets tiresome by the 5th reference.

And speaking of references…3 Taylor Swift references within the first 16% of the book is too much.

Anyway, not for me. Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this one! I look forward to seeing what Victoria Lavine does in the future because I think there’s a lot of potential there!

I really enjoyed this book! I thought that Margot and Forrest were such great main characters and love interests for each other; I found that they balanced each other out while not being polar opposites, which I liked. I always enjoy books about jaded romance authors, so I figured this would be right up my alley, and I'm happy that it was! I also really enjoyed the plot and the mini adventures the whole group went on, and I loved watching the development of Margot and Forrest's relationship. The side characters were also really fun, and overall, I would definitely recommend this book! :)

I really liked this book! It was charming and endearing! I enjoyed the overall story and the characters seemed relatable and genuine. The loss of Star is due to roughly 3/4s of the way through the book, the momentum seemed to taper off and I had to push a bit to finish.

Thank you NetGalley for the arc!

Romance author but hates HEA! When her world gets turned upside down her sister sends her to a remote Alaskan vacation for 6 weeks.

Of course the owners son and her have every romance trope known to man during these 6 weeks. Will they work it out or will they be left with a happily never after?

This book was a hallmark feel good book

A fun romance that is a love letter to "romancelandia" and the tropes it celebrates. Margot and Forest and genuinely likeable, though flawed characters, and seeing through their perspective is a delight. The conflicts come from practical issues, and the couple is not kept apart by miscommunication, but rather by their priorities and values, that each other respect. So refreshing and charming, with real heart at its core.

This was such a great romcom, I loved every minute of it! One of those books that makes you kick your feet with giddy. I however made the unfortunate mistake of reading the last few chapters of this book in public (in the airport and on the airplane). I was fighting for my life trying to keep the tears holding on to the corners of my eyes from turning in to full on sobs. Sad tears and then joyful tears. Literally the best combination :)

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

This was the perfect chilly weather read!! It had the perfect mix of spice, romance, coziness, and a really great love story! Especially one for someone like the FMC who doesn’t believe in HEA endings!

The banter between the two characters was phenomenal, and I most definitely had some tears slipping down my face a few times. (I’m a sucker and cry even if it’s a good cry lol).

I cannot wait to dive in and be on the journey with the author as she writes more books, because she will definitely be an automatic read!
A BOOK THAT BROUGHT ME OUT OF MY SLUMP

This hit a lot of marks for me. I loved the characters, the banter was unreal. It hits every trope you can hope to expect in a romcom read, but does it in a way that is both hilarious, real, and far from cheesy. I am so looking forward to seeing this book get hyped up because it was absolutely the cozy winter read we all need in our lives.

Margo is a romance author who doesn’t believe in love. Her sister sends her to Alaska, where she meets sexy Forrest, who turns out to be the embodiment of the perfect hero from her book.
The story touches on themes of health, as the heroine cares for her sister, and the hero cares for his father. It explores the challenges faced by those close to loved ones with health issues, making this not only a story about love but also about loyalty and self-sacrifice.
This book is filled with both humorous and heartbreaking moments. I absolutely loved the winter atmosphere—it felt like I’d visited Alaska myself.
I can’t believe this is the author’s debut novel! I can’t wait to read more stories from Victoria Lavine.

Tropes:
enemies to lovers
forced proximity
only one tent
Alaska setting
injury

Big thank you to Simon and Schuster and Net Galley for this ARC! 🧣❄️🫶🏻🤍✨

I loved this book so much! It’s finally starting to get cold outside, and this book was the perfect cozy read! I personally loved the style of writing in the book! I think that Victoria Lavine might be an instant read author for me! I loved the characters, and I also loved the humor throughout the book! There were several parts where I was genuinely laughing out loud! Not only was this book funny, but it also was sweet and moving — I definitely teared up a couple of times and fully cried at one point 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would definitely recommend this book, especially if you want a cozy book that will make you laugh!

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC! If you are a romance girly, this book is for you! Imagine all the cheesy tropes wrapped into one love story, a romance readers dream come true!! Margot is a jaded romance author who has had her fair share of heartbreak, when she gets canceled for a leaked file she goes to remote Alaska to try and reinvent herself. From the minute she meets Forrest, it is one romance trope to the next. Absolutely loved reading about the adventures they go on, the character development & the love story they are both hesitant to dive into. Romance girlies HAVE to put this on the TBR.

A romance author that doesn't believe in romance? Shocking! An amazing book by Victoria lavine. I thought it was fun, witty, and charming all in the set quaint town of Alaska that brings charm and the sense of hope. This book is a big message to romance, to love. and those who need a little hope in their life. One thing I loved was the picturesque scenery that makes you want to pack your bags to move to Alaska and figure out your life and finding your joy. This book feels like an absolute warm hug. I really enjoyed it!

My first & definitely won’t be my last Victoria Levine book. I got swept away with Margot & Forrester and going on their journey. Not an easy journey to their happily ever after, but worth it.

I voluntarily reviewed this book.
