I loved everything about this book. Victoria Lavine creates two characters that you want to root for! Anyone who enjoys romance novels will love all of the nods to common tropes and smile their way through every page. I will be recommending this to everyone I know, and I am so grateful to netgalley and the publisher for my advanced review copy. 5/5!!

Excuse me as I am still swooning from this novel. This book is going to take off once it is officially released. From page one I was hooked, it was everything I wanted in a romance novel. Any Trope but You is exactly all the tropes! The enemies to lovers, the perfect lumberjack, the conflict of we can't be together, the super smart, rich educated man, has it all! I loved the characters in this book, the adventures our main female goes on to get out of her comfort zone. The raw honesty of trauma, health issues, family and barriers to finding true love makes this novel so relatable yet has so many fun, giggly moments too. I found myself laughing, crying and screaming at our characters at some points (in a good way) and any book that takes a hold of my emotions and doesn't let go is a major win in my book.

This book is officially my favorite romance of the year, I said it and I stand by it! It was such an absolute joy, and will be purchasing a live copy as soon as it comes out as this is my comfort book! If you are thinking about reading this book, please do your self a favor and read it! Make sure you have a free day available because you WILL NOT PUT IT DOWN ONCE YOU START! IT WAS THAT GOOD! I’m gonna be so for real if I found out that any of my favorite romance authors had secret alternate endings where everything went terribly wrong for their characters I would be DELIGHTED. That is objectively hilarious and you cannot convince me otherwise.

That being said it was also an excellent way for Margot to get cancelled without changing OUR opinion of her so I loved it. Because Margot is an absolute treasure, and so is her sister.

Even in spite of her anxiety and horror at the situation, Margot was determined to use the time away to write. She wasn’t going to go on the excursions, but she was going to stay. And I think that says a lot about who she is - scared but also resilient.

Forrest is the quintessential romance hero, who has single-handedly taken every single romance trope possible and decorated himself with them. You can’t even fault him for his faults, because they’re so human and understandable, just like Margot’s.

Watching the two of them stumble apprehensively around each other while also juggling their complex relationships with themselves and their loved ones was so earnest and funny and also heartbreaking. Their biggest faults are their inabilities to live for themselves - and they both know that they can’t fix that in each other.

I didn’t expect this to be as gut wrenching as it was, and that is a compliment. I said “stop” out loud at one point, to myself? Or maybe to them? Idk I was crying.

Anyway you know the drill. Add it to the TBR. Don’t look at me until my eyes have dried.

This plot was clever but I really struggled with the believability of the story and therefore struggled to connect with the characters. Thanks for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Who doesn't love a romance book about a romance author? This had me giggling and kicking my feet the whole time

I really enjoyed this book! Margot is such a loveable, heartbroken character that sacrifices so much of herself for sister. We see a reflection of this in Forrest as well, except slightly different circumstances.

Having a California girl sent to Alaska?! BRUTAL but the cold was worth the reward. Every step of the way, Margot acknowledges the classic romance tropes and refuses to give in….until they do.🤭 I love their chemistry and how they bond over their mutual sacrifices for the people they love.

Knocked it out of the park for a debut novel!! This was such a fun concept for a book, and I loved the Dual POVs!! Truly felt like the most quintessential rom-com with emotion and spice and an HEA!

If I didn’t know, this was a debut novel going in I would have immediately started looking for a blacklist once I was done!
Any Trope But You is a debut that will leave you laughing and craving more from the author once finished.

With help from her sister she’s travels to Alaska to write her first Murder mystery debut… will this author who doesn’t believe in happily ever afters succeed or will our handsome MMC, Forrest, who is the epitome of all the tropes combine get in her way.
I thought this was very well written . It flowed very well. I didn’t feel that there was any pacing issues. I really enjoyed how as a romance writer. If there was a trope that came up, she felt the need to point it out. I also felt that the growth of both the characters was very well developed. I very much look forward to see what else this author does in the future.

I kind of loved this book! It’s a debut by the author, Victoria Lavine but she’s very clever to make it about tropes, a romance author who’s lost faith in romance, a fish out of water in a wilderness camp, meeting the trope of all trope men, who she’s written about in her books. Will they won’t they? They don’t start off on a good foot. So many romance tropes, but it’s on purpose and it works! Looking forward to more from her!

Any Trope But You offers a dual-pov and while the premise is intriguing, the execution didn't quite work for me. I almost DNF'd a few times because of some slow moving or frustrating moments. It was a mixed bag because i found the FMC too annoying to connect with and the MMC too corny but overall the story had its entertaining moments.

This book was really cute. Margot being a romance writer that gets found out for not loving HEAs, I LOVE THAT. I am also someone who enjoys reading a HEA but I also enjoy reading sad / dark / alternate endings. So I related to her on that. I actually really liked the tropes being brought up and Margot being like what the heck every time Forrest did something cute. And they had a fun meet cute.

Mr. Hot tub seemed hot emotionally, academically, and partnership wise. Very swoon worthy.

Them both having people they loved and felt that they needed to be caregivers of was cute, but I found the plot hit a lull in the middle / towards the end that made putting the book down really easy. I’m glad the ending was to the point and the make-up was incredible. Overall, very cute read, would be great for casual romance reader or a rainy /snowy day inside! Hope you enjoy it.

I loved this story about Margot and Forrest! Margot is a romance author is who outed for not believing in happily ever afters anymore. Her sister sends her to a remote Alaskan resort to decompress from the fallout of this reveal to her readers and to reset. There she meets Forrest, a doctor who is taking care of his father after an accident and truly has a heart of gold. During Margot's visit they form an enemies to lovers eque connection and so many other romance tropes along the way.

I enjoyed the creativity of the tropes throughout this book and really felt for the characters as they find their own identity outside of caring for a family member (Margot takes care of her sister with an auto-immune disease). Overall this book was tenderhearted, slightly steamy and a fun adventure. I loved it and think you will too especially as we get into colder weather temps!

I think all romance readers will love this book. It has all the best tropes in one book, and leaves out the awful ones. I found myself squealing throughout as I read and loved how the two main characters both understood each other so well.

I enjoyed this so much!
I was so angry for Margot in the beginning when her privacy got violated. It was incredibly unfair but I’m happy with the path it led her down.
The meet-cute between Margot and Forrest was so fun. I became obsessed with them instantly.
I always love when there’s resistance on both sides and they 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒍 can’t stay away.
Being in Margot’s head was extremely entertaining. I loved how mad she was that she kept feeling like she was in one of her own romance novels. Just the way that whole plot line was written was so comical.

This book had so many funny moments but also some emotional ones too. Margot’s sister Savannah had me tearing up multiple times. Their relationship was so special.

I also enjoyed the relationship between Forrest and his dad. Both Forrest and Margot were so selfless and willing to give up anything for their family. It’s what made them understand each other so deeply and a reason why they worked so well together.

I’ll definitely be rereading this when I get my hands on the paperback next spring!

This book has a charming premise: Margot, a beloved romance author, secretly jaded by her own genre, creates more realistic alternate endings for her characters. When these endings accidentally leak online, she’s “canceled” by her fanbase. In an effort to reinvent herself, she retreats to a remote Alaskan resort, where she meets Forrest—a walking, talking romance trope in human form.

While the premise was full of potential, the execution ultimately didn’t work for me. Margot, while an interesting character, wasn’t particularly likable, and I never really connected with her. I also struggled with her lack of growth throughout the story. Forrest, though a cute idea, felt more like a stereotype than a fully fleshed-out character, and unfortunately, I didn’t feel much chemistry between him and Margot, even with the many open-door scenes (which, to be fair, didn’t appeal to me).

The central “will they, won’t they” tension dragged on too long in the second half of the book and began to feel repetitive. I can see this book resonating with many readers, but personally, it wasn’t quite the right fit.

That said, I believe Victoria Levine has a lot of talent, and I look forward to seeing what she writes next.

This story follows Margot, a romance writer who gets cancelled when the world finds out about her secret feelings about HEA (or the fact that they dont exist!). She's sent to a remote Alaskan lodge to reconnect with herself at the request of her sister. There we meet Forrest: the living embodiment of the romance tropes!
This dual POV has EVERYTHING I look for: sizzling chemistrt, perfect slow burn, witty and intense banter, crazy hijinks, and once the corner is turned SPICE SPICE SPICE. There is a scene in a sauna that is HOT for more than one reason. But what makes this shine is its roots in some really beautiful B story lines. Forrest and Margot have both sacrificed for their medically complex family, have successful careers they've had to give up, and the weight of the world on their shoulders. They've experienced real heartbreak and it shows in the cautious way they get together. It's really touching and raw. The side characters are so well developed and while I normally hate 3rd act break ups, this one just WORKED.
