Sable island is a Canadian island known for its remoteness, horses, seals and has the distinction of having more than 300 shipwrecks off its shores. This book focuses on the island when it was inhabited by about 35 people during the early 1940’s. It served as a weather station as well as a beacon for distressed boats. The main character Emma has lived there all her life with her father who is the superintendent of this small island . Emma is knowledgeable and loves all aspects of life on the island but as an inquisitive woman now wants to live and pursue studies at Dalhousie university . Her contacted with the outside world has been limited and this results in forming relationships quickly with two men who have come to be on the island for different reasons . This book focuses on these relationships and how they both contributed to Emma’s journey as a mother ,doctor and finally a woman who eventually finds her true soulmate.

This book had a very introspective feel to it compared to the author's previous books. The story was interesting but there was a lot of heartache within the pages. I particularly enjoyed the wild horses in the story.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.

The imagery in this book is truly beautiful, that’s probably my favorite part of it.
The decisions made in this book by the main character and also other people were frustrating to me. I didn’t love the love triangle if you will & while I am glad they found each other at the end, it was still heartbreaking.
Not the lightest or most enjoyable of reads and I didn’t love the blurred lines in relationship, not the book for me.

I really enjoyed reading this and thought the romance element worked overall. I loved the two time-periods being used and that the characters had that feel that I wanted. Julianne MacLean was able to weave a great story and can’t wait to read more from them.

All Our Beautiful Goodbyes by J. MacLean, published by Lake Union Publishing is an historical fiction novel. A story that spans decades. time and place.
Starting in the 1946ties tells the story of characters and the choices the made. A story of travelling certain roade, a slow burn, quiet book.

All Our Beautiful Goodbyes by Julianne MacLean explores roads traveled and choices made; choices individuals make and those influenced by others in a wonderfully readable story set in Canada. The important message Ms. MacLean gives is regardless of the difficulties keep moving forward and recognize blessings when they come. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.

This book was good, I liked the writing style that this author used, and how the pacing was. it was a beautiful story that evoked a lot of different emotions, and it had you rooting for the main character. It made you want them to be happy.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for this complimentary ARC in exchange for an honest review!!

This book just touched my heart in the most special way. I will forever carry this story with me forever. The character, and her heart it was just incredible. I have not read a book like this in a very long time. Highly suggest everyone adding this to your TBR this coming year.
