This is the second book by Randy Rainbow and I have really enjoyed them both. He is very funny and also very honest. I also love that he brought his mother back again for a chapter. She is hilarious too!

Randy Rainbow is one of my favorite comedians! I was highly anticipating his second book, and it certainly did not disappoint! Anyone who comes into the library looking for a good laugh, I always recommend him. The audiobook was definitely the way to go!
Audiobook received for free through NetGalley
A good listen. Glad I came across this one. Much like his Instagram video with, of course, way less singing.
I knew nothing about Randy Rainbow prior to reading this book. I just liked the cover and title. He’s very witty and funny. I could have done without a few of the chapters that were not narrated in his voice. More like they were short stories written from say his cats perspective. Lots of talk of politics, which is not a topic I enjoy reading about. I hadn’t realized he did political satire prior to reading this though.
I absolutely adore Randy and appreciate his uniquely wonderful take on satire and political commentary. As a musical theatre kid myself, I absolutely adore anything and everything that Randy does. And his new book is no exception. A wonderful peek into his world, this is a great second book. I highly recommend the audiobook, which he narrates.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advance audio copy of this title. I love Randy Rainbow on Instagram, and as live entertainment! However, I don't think there is enough substance for a book. His musings are entertaining, but became somewhat repetitive.
Im a HUGE RR fan (seen him in concert too!)
Reading Low Hanging Fruit was just as much fun as reading his first book. And Gurlllllll, when he dives into D Jessica T, it is a too much in a good way....a true laugh out loud! All I can say is Read This Book! It is a very fast read, and trust me when I say you will be SOOOOOO happy you did!
Bravo to you Randy Rainbow, on another brilliant piece on theatre!
Thanks to Macmillan Audio for an advanced listeners copy of Low-Hanging Fruit by Randy Rainbow in exchange for my honest opinion. I am entertained by Randy's "content" (he has an issue with that word in this one!) and I really enjoyed his previous book, Playing with Myself. I thought the audio was especially engaging, as it's narrated by Randy himself. Each chapter is a short essay on something that Randy feels strongly about
My favorite chapter included how distracting the process of age-googling is. Age googling is when you're watching a show or movie and you start to google the ages of the actors at the time of filming and then get so distracted by their wikipedia that you don't know what is happening in the show. I definitely do that a lot!
If you know and enjoy Randy, I think you'll like this. If you don't know his work, I don't think this is a good intro to it - Playing with Myself is your go-to for that.
As a huge fan who adore Randy's videos I was excited to see he had a new book. I'd read his first title & decided to try this one in audio form which I think was the right choice. He has an easy breezy way about him & listening to this was like hearing your best friend tell you stories over cocktails or coffee depending on your drink of choice.
He also got a little help from mom Gwen--this chapter was one of my favorites & Pamela Adlon as his kitty & this chapter was also totally adorable!
Each chapter is a short essay so it's easy to listen to in small bursts if finding time to read is an issue. Listen while washing the dishes or riding the exercise bike. Enjoy a little bit of Randy & add some cheer to your day!
Both casual & more serious fans will adore this book & I can't recommend the audio version highly enough! It was a fun listen.
Thanks to Macmillan audio for the opportunity to listen to an advance audio copy.
Randy Rainbow’s videos were one of the few highlights for me during Covid and, having attended on of his shows, I was delighted to receive an advanced listener copy of this book. It didn’t disappoint. I enjoy his writing style and listening to him narrate the book definitely added to the enjoyment. The stories were funny, even when they had the air of vulnerability. I love his humor and it was great to listen to these essays and see that humor applied to more than the political arena. Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for this chance.
I follow Randy Rainbow on Instagram. He has given me plenty of chuckles. This book is such a fun ride through a plethora of hot topics. Low-hanging fruit is not for everyone. Randy's humor can be raunchy and over-the-top, which I sheepishly adore. Don't waste your time reading this; you need to listen to the audio version and sit back and enjoy every minute.
3.5 stars rounded up.
I'll admit I've never heard of Randy Rainbow (real last name!), but I was presented with the opportunity to listen to this audiobook and took it because of the fun cover. Overall, it did not disappoint!
If you are a liberal millennial like myself, this book will speak to you and make you laugh out loud. Listening to Randy is like brunching with your gay bff who gives you his witty perspective on life, dating, and politics.
I appreciated listening to Randy as the narrator to make it more personal, but I had to speed it up because the narration was too slow otherwise. Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the audio ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Randy Rainbow has created an audio version of his book worthy of his in person shows, which are always a hoot. He narrates his own quasi auto biographical vignettes in bite size chapters that are great for listening to in short spurts or for long periods of time. I listened on a long car drive and just loved hearing his voice !
The chapters are diverse. He discusses childhood memories, Amazon deliveries, politics ( Donald JESSICA Trump), his own Randy Rainbow for President platform and campaign, his gay identity, and as the title suggests he very indiscreetly reveals his self image relating to his imperfect body. . Another plus was the chapter in which his mom spoke with him, rehashing some memories that made me smile. Randy’s brilliant acerbic wit shines through every word in every chapter.
All in all this was a super great almost in person Randy Rainbow show. Being a big fan of his, I just loved this book. I read the ebook version along with the audio, and was very very happy that I was able to hear his voice tell his story. Five twinkling stars for this outrageously fun experience. Publication date was October 8, 2024 so it’s available. You won’t want to miss this! Many thanks to NetGalley MacMillan audio and St Martin’s Press for providing me with both the audio and ebook version of Low Hanging Fruit in exchange for my honest review.
I’ve followed Randy Rainbow’s YouTube channel for several years now (gotta love political commentary dressed in Musical Theatre drag) and I was hoping for more of the same.
I enjoyed the insider’s look at semi-stardom, the bits with his mom, the Donald Jessica Trump ish talk, and his personal anecdotes.
I do wish he sang more and talked about his bodily fluids less, but here we are.
Thanks to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and St. Martin’s Press for this gay-ol-time ARC.
Oh, Randy - you are a gift! Thank you for your vulnerability and sharing intimate moments.
Filled with humorous stories, Randy invites the reader to glimpse some of his best and challenging moments. The nostalgia for the 90s of course - also a fellow 90s kid.
The MAGA hookup is certainly my favorite.
This book is absolutely fun. A hilarious, millennial b*tch-fest, and I loved every moment of it. Randy Rainbow provides his hilarious commentary on life, fame, his mother, fans, social media (and the trolls), travel, politics, and the general state of the country with excellent comedic timing. He’s saying the things we are thinking; and when the jokes pointed at you, you’ve got to be able to laugh at yourself!
I was only loosely aware of Randy Rainbow and had not read his previous book, but I will definitely be buying it.
The audiobook narration speed was way too slow for me, but I enjoyed it at 2x speed. Glad to hear Randy as a narrator to really drive home the jokes.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I don’t rate memoirs as a general rule. This one deserves every one of the five stars I’ve awarded it. A collection of essays, put together as a book, this encompasses everything Randy Rainbow. His narration made it feel like I was catching him at a show or on one of his social channels.
Randy’s writing is fresh, irreverent, honest, and clever. He shares his observations, pet peeves, annoyances, life lessons, and even his top 25 list with us.
I was already a die-hard Randy Rainbow fan (hello, who isn’t after Desperate Cheeto days?!?!!) and thoroughly loved listening to this.
I'm a fan of Randy Rainbow's political videos. He's got tremendous talent and imagination. I knew he had tours for live audiences. So, when I saw his second book was available, I asked for a review copy. This book has a number of chapters, each on a new topic based on his observations and his life.
If you know and enjoy Randy's humor, you will enjoy this book.
I was lucky enough to receive both an e-book and the audio version. I think having the audio book, narrated by Randy was extra special. As a notable guest, his mother joins him for a bit. Loved it.
