This is an interesting little cozy crime novella. Way upriver on the Thames, up where the river starts and isn't very wide, disgruntled American former cop Jack Brennan has taken up residence on a houseboat. Single mother Sarah Edwards is horrified to find out that an old schoolmate's body has been found in the river. The two end up investigating, and it's obvious a bit of romance is developing. I'm happy that the romance doesn't overwhelm the mystery. The atmosphere really was cozy. This is one of the few present-day mysteries where I feel like the "cozy" adjective really applies. I enjoyed this novella enough that I have purchased other installments in the series.
